Ubuntu :: Two Files Containing Bits Of Info That Both Need To Be Included In A Single Command?
Mar 18, 2011
I've been searching high and low for a solution to my problem, and have not had much luck as to yet!The situation is: I have two files containing bits of info that both need to be included in a single command, such as a for loop, but as separate elements. What I need to do is basically this:Code:ssh <servers in list a> ls -la | grep <items in list b>Does anyone have any thoughts on how I might do this? Is it possible to do using bash scripting alone?

I was wondering if there's any resource that explains how to use w3m. I checked the man page but this just lists the startup options. I also did some google searches but couldn't find anything useful. I was able to find bits and pieces of info on different sites (e.g. how to enter a URL, how to go back a page, etc.) but there was no site that had all this sort of information in one place.

Is there a command line utility to tell me about what's inside a video file? Say I have a .mpg file. I want to know about the video stream and the various audio streams, the codec used for the video stream, the bitrate of the video stream, and so on.

when I reformat ubuntu, I use AptonCD to save packages and then restore them without downloading anything over again. what I want to know is: I have the 32 bits ubuntu installed and then I downloaded the 64 bits version. If i reformat to the 64 bits one, would the DVD saved aptoncd packages from the 32 bits work on the 64 bits installation?

I'm quite new to linux and I recently (and courageously) upgraded the computer of my work from opensuse 11.0 32bits to opensuse 11.2 64bits.
Well, everything would be quite fine except that I still have some softwares 32 bits that have the 64 bits version available. I know that because, using YaST, I can see by the Installed software section that there are 'choices' of versions for some programs; these versions are 'i586' and 'x86_64', and many of them have the i586 version installed.
So, I wonder if there is some type of auto upgrade all programs which are i586 and have the matching x86_64 avaliable...

I am getting this error when trying to start apache. This is on a server that was functioning but now, when I tried to restart the server, this error shows up when trying to start the httpd service. The command that is causing the error is: CustomLoglogs/rosewood.access combined However, my guess is that it has something to do with either a module not being loaded or something wrong with the setup. But, as I said, this server was running so I am really not sure what changed. Server is Apache 2.0.52.

On Windows I've been using XMPlayer for that purpose. XMPlayer has got a rar plugin and it works as expected.I stumbled across this plugin for Audacious but I'm not sure it's relatedhttp://kittylambda.com/rsn_plugin_for_audaciousI've ran XMPlay succesfully with wine with the rar plugin and it actually works (a bit slower but it works). But what I'm missing is integration with nautilus since drag and drop won't work from nautilus to XMPlayer. I have to navigate to the rar file manually on the file-open window and since Nautilus puts it's mounts on /home/[username]/.gvfsit's a bit cumbersome.

About 7 years ago I setup a Redhat system with 8 serial terminals and 8 serial printers, this is still running but I need to get another system running so the original can be taken down for maintenance. The printers are ancient Newbury data dot matrix wide carriage with 7 data bits receive 8 data bits transmit Xon/Xoff flow control. Now I remember setting the transmit and receive data bits as above but after 7 years can't remember where.

I cannot install Kubuntu 8.04LTS. When I run the Live CD and click to install it gets me the box that should show me my hard drives and possible partitions but the box is empty. I get the same when booting to the Live CD and clicking on install. I have had this CD since Kubuntu 8.04 was released. So not knowing what might be wrong I figure I will ask here for what to type in a command line to install it. I know it is an old version but it is the last one with KDE 3.5.

I have an issue when running the phpinfo() command on a webpage. Occasionally the Default timezone setting shows 'utc', at others it show 'Europe/Berlin'. To prove I'm not going mad I screen captured a short video of the display changing while all I was doing was pressing F5.
The system is set to a European timezone i.e. both date and hwclock commands show 'CET'. There was an update to the Debian tzdata package which I installed at the beginning of February 2010. I'm not aware of there being a problem before that but I could be wrong about that.

NO GUI INSTALLED! i need this with straight command line...What do i need to look for to figure this out? i'm having trouble figuring this out and it's really getting annoying..
