Ubuntu :: Restore The Buttons On The Top Panel?

May 27, 2010

I deleted (by accident) the top panel in my Ubuntu 10.04 install. I got it back but I can't get the power button or the chat/user-name button back.

How would you get these things back on the panel?

In gnome-tweak-tool the button field is blank with no options.

dconf-editor also does not have the relevant field (wm) mentioned in the answers.

I've tried logging on with both gnome & gnome classic with same result.

Ubuntu :: Disappearing Apllication Buttons In Panel

Mar 21, 2011

I am current updated with latest version of 10.04.It has been running fine for several days with the new update.Today, I notice the applications did not show up on the Panel bar at bottom of screen. When I have an application up, and I click the minimize button, the entire application disappear,So I have to start a new application each time if I minimize it.In addition, application does not show up on the Panel bar at all when the application is in-focus, out-of-focus, or minimized.

And when I minimized any application, it disappear entirely. Minimize does not work at this point. So my Panel shows up but is blank!I see several posting of disappearing Panel, but my Panel is NOT missing. How do I enable display of active applications in Panel bar?I also re-ran Update manager, but it said everything is up to date.

Ubuntu :: 11.04 - No Side Panel Buttons In Regular Mode

May 8, 2011

I installed 11.04 64 bit on my Acer Extensa 4420 the other day. It was running 10.04 32bit before. When it booted up the first time it said that it had some video issue and would boot in classic mode. I rebooted and selected the regular Ubuntu and it came up with the side panel buttons. This morning it boots into classic mode and I can't seem to get it back to the regular mode with the side panel buttons! What could be wrong with video settings? When I first ran 11.04 live it came up with the side panel and didn't ask to install any video drivers.

Ubuntu :: Restore Gnome Panel

Oct 15, 2010

The other day I kind of messed up my panel and accidentally removed the exit icon from the upper right corner (in the panel). So I tried to restore the panel using this command:

Code:

It did the trick and restored the panels, however instead of saying my user name, it said root (again the upper right corner, in the panel). I realized this might be because I ran the command with sudo but if I didn't it would not succeed. AND when I reboot, it returns to its' messed up state.

I am running Ubuntu 10.10
