Basically, my email folder is in a unix folder on a system, and that system logs me into my folder when I try using evolution. The downside is that files like .bashrc, .bash_profile and other weird stuff end up in the foldertree view

So my question - There are various folders of patient MRI scans (folders called P1, P2, P3 etc) and within them are enclosed certain files that I am interested in (always called the same name in all folders, say image001). I would like a script that enables me to copy and move this image001 in all these individual folders to another folder altogether.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with fed 12 yesterday (only on a test installation) and i've hit a snag. I installed openbox and tint2, nitrogen, obconf etc so i could have a #!-style session at startup. It all worked fine until i installed pcmanfm and removed nautilus. The problem is that i can't display files in my home directory, either using pcmanfm, a reinstalled nautilus, or in terminals. Every time i try to point a file brower there it just seems to get stuck searching forever, until i kill it. Weirdly in terminator i can do an 'ls' to see visible files, but 'ls -la' causes the problem again.
ps i thought permissions might have something to do with it, so i did a 'chmod -R 777' as root. it changed permissions for quite a lot of the files but then froze again, and now the problem persists.

When I try to delete a file in the host directory (and sub-directories), I see the prompt, 'Cannot move file to trash, do you want to delete immediately?'
I googled this issue and see some solutions that require editing fstab, but not sure if that's the right approach in wubi, and not so sure what edits I would make in fstab anyway.
I am do not know what to type in the terminal to get a list of installed programs and their versions.

I want to find out what files link to a (not symlinks, mind you), assuming that this is more complicated (they are spread around to different directories).
I kind of understand about the filesystem storing links in one area and data in another, so I understand it probably takes more work to find a link from a file location than the other way around.

I would like to overwrite files in a directory tree, recursively. The ones I would like to overwrite match the filename "x_alpha*.png" and have a size exactly 456 bytes. Is there any way to search for these recursively in a directory tree, and overwrite them with a reference file, for example "e:mydirgood.png"

Even though files having MNO contains this pattern i should not exclude. Even if file ends with .txt or .doc it should not be excluded. I think as a result of a script that started duplicating files in a loop, the allotted capacity on my VPS filled up with multiple nested copies of the same files... After a reboot, I could delete most of them, but got rm stalled in certain directories...
after isolating which ones, I found this: a directory listing that lists the files, and at the same time tells me they are not there!!!

I tried to find a good subject but it was the best of mine, anyway I'll explain it here.
some time I do some thing like installing a new application in Linux terminal of my office PC but it take a long time and I have to go home during its installation or configuration process that it is not good to cancel it.My current solution is abandoning the process until next day. I wanted to know is there any way to redirect an input and out put of a terminal to another one, if it works I can continue my abandoned process by ssh to my Linux office PC and redirect that terminal to my new remote sshed terminal from my home.
