View 3 RepliesWhen I used Hulu Desktop on my old integrated VGA video output, it played fairly well. Now I got a new video card and connected my monitor and installed the latest drivers and it doesn't play as well, it buffers and I don't know how to explain the rest.

The problem is that none of the video players doesn't play video, they show only black window and play audio.
I have Fedora 11 Leonidas, fully up-to-date.
I have installed rpmfusion and livna repository.
I have installed following packages:
When I try to play video with totem, it doesn't output any error, but just doesn't play video.
with mplayer:
xine and kaffeine just say:
vlc:
I tried several different files, which works perfectly in windows and ubuntu.
I installed windows binary codecs for mplayer to /usr/lib/codec/
Hi, I m using ubuntu 9.04.I had some .wav files to play diretlly from firefox without downloading . Is there any chance for opening the files in this way?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone else struggling to play iplayer video? I've got the proprietary Flash plugin, which means it's probably not this "SWF Authentication" thing that there's been so much talk about.
I've rebooted, tried all sorts of tinkering, it loads the applet (I can see that Flash is loading OK because other things work, and right clicking on the applet gives the Flash menu)
However, clicking the play button does nothing.
I don't know why, but I can't seem to just play video files (stream them) directly through the internet using MPC or any other media player. It is a bit weird, because I think I was able to just a month ago. I have made some changes to the general setup of the apache server, but nothing major, and I have no chance of reversing it all.
Instead, when I try opening the url using "Open file" it doesn't just open it an begin playing from the internet, but instead appears to be frozen. However, If I let it be "frozen" long enough, it will eventually play the file, indicating that it has downloaded the entire file to a temp location on the hard drive.
Is it something with the permissions? Actually, I went and made everything in /var/www/ 777, as it is not known by a domain name or registered anywhere. I am just connecting though my IP address as the server is located locally. Even this didn't help.
when i try to play a video, from internet it is showing the message 'Either javascript turned off or download and install latest adobe flash player'. But eventhough I downloaded and installed adobe flash player I am unable to play any video and still it is giving the above message. what is the reason?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with Damn Small Linux 4.4.10 on my Dell Inspiron 3000 laptop for quite a while now, and this is the first time I've been downright stumped. To make a long story short, I'm trying to play 480p video on a machine with a 233 MHz Pentium processor, 112 MB of ram, and a Neomagic MagicGraph 128XD graphics card (NM2160). Crazy? Maybe, but I don't think so. I'm using MPlayer set to Xv mode with the XFree86 4.3.0 server, and so far, I've been able to get it to play 360p mpegs with minimal stuttering. However, MPlayer crashes with 480p. This is because the 128XD only has 2 MB of memory, which, after the 1024x768x16 screen takes its share, doesn't leave enough room for a 640x480 overlay.
The creators of MPlayer are aware of this limitation, and suggest adding the following line to my XF86Config file: Option "OverlayMem" "829440"
As I understand it, this is supposed to extend the video card's frame buffer into system memory, thus allowing the higher resolution video to play. However, it doesn't work, based on this output from my XFree86 log file: cannot reserve 829440 bytes for overlay...
Some other suspicious-looking lines from the log file:
The new 10.04 livecd diverts to a dialog asking if you want to go to livecd or install, which makes sense (shifting the choice away from grub, etc). However, I want to go directly to desktop: does anyone know exactly where in the boot process this diversion happens? I have a suspicion that it happens before the autologin, or somewhere thereabouts, but I haven't found anything after poking around initrd.lz. where to find the script that invokes the dialog?

All formats (AVI, MPG, MP4) do not work. When attempting to use MPlayer, VLC, Kaffine and KMPlayer. The file opens, then the program immediately closes.
Another issue is that online video's are very jerky. Before the upgrade, all of these issues did not exist.
Any thoughts or idea's on where to look? I have already tried re-installing the codec's via the restricted extra's package, and by re-installing VLC.
I installed ubuntu there is another problem iam getting is that i cant play any audio file or video file when i clicked on the file it is saying search for suitable codec when i click on search it is.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Firefox has stopped playing video, including from ...... It just shows a big image of the "play" button in the space. Moreover, in some other news sites with .flv videos it simply does not play. All I can see is the play/pause button and the volume control flickering. My understanding is that this happened after the latest system update. I would also like to know if there is a download helper extension for Chrome equivalent to the one available for Firefox that enables download of video files.
