Ubuntu :: Patched Version Of Tomboy Not Compiling?
Mar 11, 2011
I grabbed a pacthed version of tomboy from this in order to use tomboy Task manager addin created by the same developers I guess. Well I managed with the
Code:
./autogen.sh
and
Code:
./configure
scripts until I came up with a valid make file. I later ran
Code:
I'll try to make this short, esp because I don't know if this is the right place to discuss a 3rd party program like "Avidemux" I'm running the latest version "2.5.4" or so. It started giving me this problem where no matter what settings I give it, the resulting files are so small it results in an error after almost a day of encoding. ( "XYZ" was NOT saved correctly , for example.) One day I noticed the quantisizer was at max, peaking at 48-50...which made the files tiny. So, I can avoid this sort of, by limiting the maximum and minimum quantisizer in the configurations. Problem is, I have no control over target size or bitrate this way..and sometimes the results are still unplayable.
Naturally I've uninstalled and re-installed several times, and recompiled the x264 codecs using this guide: [URL]... So, I downloaded the Tar.gz of the previous version i was using (Avidemux 2.5.3), the last known thing I know that worked for me...but I have no idea how to install it. I've tried running "Make" / "Cmake" In which I was told that an "in-tree-build" was detected. And trying to run the included "bootStrap.sh" results in : "Permission denied" or file/command not found. I don't think their old releases come in the default Ubuntu/Unix package "deb" right?
All these could be small errors on my end, but It urks me. In between reading up, and everything else that needs to be done in a day, I could have been done by now... Does anyone know where i could be going wrong?
I would like to know how or given directions how to compile a newer version of synergy for PPC. Or it would be nice if someone could compile it though I want to learn how to do these things. Synergy is available for download from: [URL].
I am working on a university workstation and need to use an old version of gcc (either 4.0 or 4.1) and am currently using 4.4.2. I do not have admin rights nor can I get them so using aptitude is out of the question. I was told I should compile the old version with the current one. I am very new to this sort of thing and haven't a clue what to do or how to go about compiling my program once I have gotten the older version.
I decided I was going to compile XChat from source today for "fun." What I ended up doing was spending a few hours getting it to compile, then find out everything didn't work the way I thought it did. I was under the impression that after I ran "sudo make install" I was "upgrading", when in reality I'm just installing a seperate version alongside the old one. Apparently I have to keep the old version so every program that was compiled with it will continue to work, so how do I:
1) Force a program to use a specific version of GTK when compiling. 2) Find where my version of GTK installed to.
I've asked some people and I've just been told to "learn LD_PRELOAD". I've googled and can't figure how I could even apply that to my current problem
My laptop was not hibernating using default kernle and uswsusp. So I decided to try tuxonice from ubuntu ppa. Now hibernation and suspend is working beautifully on my laptop. But I have few doubts in my mind, since now I am using patched kernel from ppa will it affect the overall stability of system ? What if there is any kernel related update from ubuntu will I receive that update ? What if new ubuntu version is release, can I upgrade without breaking my whole system ?
if I have a kernel that does not automatically update because I installed it from a deb, will I be missing out on important security updates or the like? I installed the 2.6.34 kernel because I wanted trim support, but am very concerned that I will miss something important.
I just installed starcraft 2 using playonlinux and wine. I was able to launch it once it finished the updates. I proceeded to amp up the graphics to ultra on everything. I did that then it crashed. i now can not seem to open it. Not through wine or on the desktop.
I have scoured the web for every bit of information I can find regarding installing the ieee80211 patched driver for the realtek rtl8187, to use an Alfa AWUS036H for packet injection. Error after error after error, I have had no success, and all I can find is other people with the same setup having the same problems.
Assume I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 straight out the box, so no updates have yet been made. Is someone in the know willing to post some step by steps on how to download, install and patch the necessary driver and install necessary software, including precise info on how to blacklist or remove mac80211 version rtl8187.ko in order to replace it with the patched ieee80211 version?
I know there's a tutorial on here somewhere for installing rtl8187 in an older version of Ubuntu, and in that thread, the people with Ubuntu 10.10 all seem to be having the same problems.
I've been trying to update my base RHEL 5.4 to a 5.4 + Security fixes. Is this possible or am I left to only upgrade from 5.4 up to the latest RHEL version?
Like, is there a way to update the packages in 5.4 (sshd, kernel, librairies...)but without upgrading to a different release?
This may sound odd, but how does one report a patched file to a major dev team, like PHP? Sure, they have their bug report page, but the following bug hasn't even been reported. After a bit of googling, though, I found the solution.
As I learned from first hand experience, compiling php5-5.3.6, when ./configure --with-openssl, terminates like so code...
if one has openssl-1.0.0d installed. Apparently, OpenSSL dropped support for SSLv2 with said version, and php5-5.3.6 doesn't know what to do without it enabled.
Fortunately, the boys @ Debian figured it out & have patched xp_ssl.c previous to their latest php5-5.3.6-10.deb release, but how do you let the PHP devs know?
i'm using this guide videos - howto: debian linux kernel compilation, part 1 and the author says i need kernel 2.6.26 this version of kernel doesnt longer exist in kernel.org website and the only 2.6.26 i found is a patch here. should i use the patch? or download another version of kernel?
I currently have Red Hat 5.4 installed and subscribed to red hat network for alert updates. The updates will be done by our administrator but I will like to check if the admin has done so on a weekly basis. Is there a command that generates a report or allows me to check if certain updates has been patched? I understand running a yum update will list all applicable patches. Should we just simply update all or only certain applications applicable to our organization environment?
I am attempting to use tomboy and it does not launch giving me the following: Code: ~$ tomboy
(/usr/lib/tomboy/Tomboy.exe:3602): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times (/usr/lib/tomboy/Tomboy.exe:3602): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times [INFO]: Initializing Mono.Addins
[Code]...
installing all the packages again without comment or error, but the problem persists with exactly the same error as above.
I upgraded to 10.04, but now I cannot add tomboy to the panel. Each time I try I get this error message: The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:TomboyApplet".
I'm trying to start tomboy in the tray, but every time it starts the "Search all notes" window pops up...
How can I stop it from doing this?
If I don't have it running and run command tomboy, it starts in tray fine, running again brings up the search all notes window... If I put tomboy in the startup preferences, it acts as if it's been called twice (But if it's not in there it doesn't run at all)
I am a long-time ubuntu user, but today I installed Debian on my netbook, just because I wasn't happy anymore with Ubuntu. So the install went OK, but now I remember that all my Tomboy notes are on my Ubuntu One acct. So, I ask you.can you teach me how to access my Ubuntu One acct if I don't have Ubuntu anymore.I'm only concerned about my Tomboy backup.
My tomboy always ran very fluently until one day I tried the tomboy-image patch. When I tried to resize a big image in my note, tomboy crashed. This was the first time I experienced tomboy crashed. I felt bothered. As a result, I removed the tomboy-image. Later on, sometimes I clicked on a link to another note or when I clicked on a note and then tomboy crashed. It is not very often but bothered me a lot. Especially after I kill the process, I can't reopen it right away. I have to wait a while. I don't know if it relates to the installation of tomboy-image or not? Since I already remove it, how can it still in effect? Or tomboy normally acts not that fluent when the amount of notes become larger? (I have 6xx notes so far).
When I start Tomboy the applet comes up on the task bar and then it crashes.
I have tried re-installing Tomboy and Mono but it still happens.
I ran Tomboy --debug in the terminal and this is the output:
at Mono.Addins.Serialization.BinaryXmlReader.Skip () <0x00068> at Mono.Addins.Serialization.BinaryXmlReader.Skip () <0x00068> at Mono.Addins.Serialization.BinaryXmlReader.Skip () <0x00068> at Mono.Addins.Serialization.BinaryXmlReader.Skip () <0x00068>
My laptop has 10.4 and desktop has 10.10.My HD is damaged due a power surge. However, I was lucky to access my ubuntu home directory. How can I move my Tomboy notes from my laptop to desktop.
How to sync notes to Dropbox, but after the upgrade to 11.04, I can't get Tomboy to sync.
I get the same error as here: [url]
Where the details panel is blank.
But I don't know what hidden file he's talking about. When I press ctrl+h in all the Tomboy folders, nothing comes out, but there are a few manifest.xml files.
I've used Ubuntu one for file syncing on my work and home computer (started on 10.10 only recently upgraded to 11.04, work is XP) and while it seems a tad slow in syncing it worked okay. Though I've used alternatives because they seem more responsive.
Well I've recently upgraded to 11.04 on my comp at home and installed 11.04 on my lappy (new install). Both are 64-bit version of Ubuntu. Thought I'd start using the other sync features and see how it fairs.
Well files appear to be okay (though I haven't tested it thoroughly yet), but I cannot get firefox bookmarks or tomboy to sync at all. I've searched through the forums but it appears to be only comments about it not working, I've yet to see anyone with a solution. I've checked out .cache/ubuntuone/log and all the syncdeamon exception logs are empty. I also just threw a file into the Ubuntu One folder and it synced damn fast. so it appears the only issues is with the bookmarks and notes.
I would like to keep my Tomboy notes synced between my home computer and the LiveUSB I'm using at the classroom. I used to sync them to Ubuntu one back when I used Ubuntu, but now that I'm using Fedora their server doesn't seem to respond. Is there a way that I can sync the notes, either using Ubuntu one or any other solution?
After a prolonged absence, version 4.10, I have started dabbling with Ubuntu again. It was a HDD crashing that sent me down this path. Needless to say, the ability to backup my user data to a second HDD is an important task to me. I'm currently using Back in Time to accomplish this and all is well. However, there is one thing missing. I can't locate my Tomboy Notes data within the file system. I expected to see a "hidden" folder in my /home, but do not. Where this information is stored so I can back it up as well?
Just a small issue:I have a note in Tomboy called "Today's tasks".When I access the synchronised note on Ubuntu One, in the tabbed view it is called:"Today's tasks"Perhaps someone working on this would like to investigate it.
Is there a way to make Tomboy Notes startup in the background when Ubuntu is lunched? I added the command "tomboy --search" to startup applications and whenever Ubuntu starts, Tomboy Notes opens the [Search All Notes] window.
In the previous Ubuntu version, I used to use the Tomboy Notes applet from (Add to Panel) and it used to startup without opening any windows. This method still work on Ubuntu 10.04, but I liked the new icon for Tomboy Notes that appears in the status bar.
