So the key keyboard shortcut is:
CTRL+ALT+TAB
With it you change the focus from the desktop to the panel, and vice versa When the focus in in the panel you can move from icon to icon with TAB (to the right) or SHIFT+TAB (to the left). Then Enter key (sometimes F10 instead) makes the same as left-clicking with the mouse, and SHIFT+F10 makes the same as right-clicking with the mouse. ESC key (sometimes Enter instead) takes the menus out.

I have just installed 10.04 LTS Wubi.The thing is, I can see no obvious way of seeing my files which were created in Windows e.g.Documents, photos etc. How do I navigate to the Windows documents from within Wubi?

I brought a computer online which is operated by Ubuntu and I know nothing about it. I had an HP printer that I couldn't get to function. I was told that HP didn't have drivers (or something like that) for Linux Ubuntu. I just brought a Lexmark which showed on the box was okay for Linux but when I load the installation disc I can't figure how to get to the "Welcome" screne and follow it through the installation. I do not kow computer terms (a newbie) and will need to be taken step-by-step through the process, if it's even possible.

i installed 10.04. when i try to dial into my work pc using my work VPN which uses Sonicwall using SSL-VPN technology. It works fine using older versions of Ubuntu, other linux versions, and XP or Vista. Using 10.04, I can login just fine, but when I get into the remote desktop, my keyboard does not work. the mouse works fine. I am using the newest version of java (1.6-20) with Ubuntu 10.04. I don't think I am using this version of java in the other linux versions, so I'm not sure if this is a problem with java, Ubuntu, or something else. i got the kb to work by pressing cntl-J, typing stty sane, then ctrl-J again, which is something I remembered from a long time ago..

The machines are side by side The Ubuntu box is hardwired to my network router, and the XP machine is connected via wireless. Both get to the internet fine, and I can ping the Ubuntu box from the XP box. But, I cannot ping the XP box from the Ubuntu box, and Remote Desktop Viewer won't establish a connection to the VNC server I have running on the XP box.

I can't seem to get out of my username directory. I'm trying to access MAMP/htdocs and get those files into my git repository. I'm new to all of this. I am typing and getting this:

View 3 Replies View RelatedI ask your help to diagnose a problem. For business reasons I use a broadband internet connection via a mobile phone's connected via bluetooth [rfcomm]. Speed is not the maximum but it is more than sufficient for my work. For configuration of ppp I followed this guide Pon pulls up dialup, but I can't navigate also if resolv.conf and default route are correct. In addition I would like to use the NetworkManager that by default, does not see the device. I worked around the problem this way:
I modified the / etc / rc.local so that launch at boot time: # Rfcomm bind yes
After starting Lucid Lynx, bluetooth connects to the phone but NetworkManager does not see the modem.
When I run the connection manually, by: # Pon BluetoothDialup
NetworkManager sees the device, but can not use it because obviously it is locked by the ppp daemon.
So I close the connection with: # poff
Now NetworkManager sees the broadband modem via / dev/rfcomm0, dialup is performed properly. I can finally surf and just enable vpn with NetworkManager. all start automatically at boot, without the need to manually connect and disconnects the dialup to use, finally, the NetworkManager.
i cant't seem to find a way to do it.
I successfully add a keyboard shorcut to launch konsole manually with khotkeys, but i don't know what command to bind to move to right, left, up, down desktops like in ubuntu.
For example in ubuntu there is ctrl+alt+arrow and ctrl+alt+shift+arrow to move through workspaces and move windows between them. Not so in kubuntu.

I just installed the beta 10.04 LTS with Gnome Version: 2.29.92. I want to to create a network share but when I navigate to system>preferences>personal file sharing I can not create a share. The message indicates that the feature is not available because the required package is not installed. I tried to reinstall gnome-user-share and in reinstalled without issue but I still get the same thing. What am I missing? How can I create a network share?

Is there a way to access the desktop directly, without only one shortcut ? I was also wondering how useful are these hidden windows (sometimes, the icon in the application bar is bar after being idle for a while).
View 11 Replies View RelatedIn the past few days Ive noticed a lot of updates. Yesterday morning several times I went to click on items on my desktop and I couldnt. I thought it was just my batteries getting weak. Yesterday afternoon it got so bad I couldnt click on anything for hours at a time. I could only power offIve been reading lots of forums and threadsd there are lots of possible problems to this but they all come down to xorg file and usb issues.
An example of one possible problem: When I have the system log open I can not move the app around, make it bigger or smaller, I can only scroll on the right pane and have to use the mouse keys to navigate the left pane. And if I want to shut the app down, sometimes I can use the ctl+F to close it but sometimes I cant.After I shut the app, any app that is, the mouse pointer turns to |< and I cant click on anything for 5 min to 5 hours. It was suggested to run sudo dpkg �reconfigure �phigh xserver-xorg but when I did I didnt see anything visually or in the terminal occur.
In windows, using firefox you can use backspace key to navigate back pages in history. Now in Debian - I try and nothing happens. Does anyone know how to change that?

I would like to be able to create shortcut icons for executing keyboard commands for use with compiz. All I would have to do is click the icon and it would execute. I've been looking for a similar way to accomplish this in (KDE) Kubuntu. I know that you can right-click on a window in the Task Manager and use "To Desktop" to move a window, but I'm just curious if the same thing can be accomplished with the keyboard.
