View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to get my microphone working. All the levels are maxed, nothing is muted. I've checked pavucontrol, alsamixer, and sytem-preferences-sound, but according to all that, there is nothing muted, and all the levels are maxed. I'm running ubuntu 10.04. My mic works fine in Windows vista, but not in Ubuntu. I am thinking I may need to update my drivers or something. Also I've gone over the forums but haven't found a solution that works, many of them involve changing the levels in system-preferences-sound, but again, that doesn't work. I've posted the results of aplay -l [URL].
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new headset ("Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset")to use with some games I play but I can't seem to get it working properly. I've tested it with both Heroes of Newerth and Teamspeak 3 (Linux clients for both of them) and I get the exact same problem in both - it seems to detect the microphone and sound from it, but intermittently. When I test it, people can hear my voice but it drops in and out about every half second (So "Hello how are you" sounds like "He-- ho- -re yo-").On the other hand if I go into the sound recorder everything works fine. But the fact that it's exactly the same problem in both of those other programs suggests to me that it's a problem with the way I have my input drivers/settings set up in Ubuntu but I have no idea how to troubleshoot that. Any suggestions? I can post logs or something but I don't know what to post (I'm still pretty new to Linux).

View 6 Replies View RelatedBefore Intrepid external microphone and sound was working fine with my Creative Labs CA0106 Soundblaster audio card. Once I've installed Intrepid, the microphone ceased working but went on without it hoping that Karmic will fix this issue. Currently in Karmic, the microphone is still not working and I'm also having problems with the sound output (not using the same PC though). I have 2.1 PC speakers and it doesn't sound right, voice or other certain channels are clogged, lower in the back. Once switching on headphones, sound output is fine, clearly stereophonic.I went through the Karmic debugging, sounds problems wiki page and other HOW-TOs but still no fix for me and I would love to have my speakers music back. Attached to this message, the ALSA Information Script (.sh file) output.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to get my webcam microphone working in flash on Kubuntu 9.10.I have a Logitek Pro 9000, and video and audio work in other applications (skype), but video is all that works in flash (I have flash 10 installed). In the flash settings, it lists the only microphone option as "Linux Microphone", which does nothing. This seems to be a common problem, with a few solutions offered.
One I've tried, which seems fairly straightforward for gnome users, is here. However, whenever I run pavucontrol, I get an error reading "Connection failed: Connection refused".Does anyone know how to either get pulseaudio open, or how to get the microphone working in flash without it?
I Have a mike that will not work. Period. I have tried to record audio with both Sound recorder and Audacity.

I was able to get it to work in the Sound Recorder Application and in the System Testing function, but when I do the Skype Test Call, or call someone with Skype, while I can hear the other person perfectly well, my microphone does not appear to work at all, so it is a strictly one way conversation.
I've made sure with the ALSA Mixer that everything is turned on, and all my sound settings are fine, but microphone won't work in Skype.
I have an Acer Aspire One D255E netbook dual-booting Win7 and Kubuntu Natty, and basically the inbuilt microphone works in Windows but not in Kubuntu. I've tried running alsamixer, it's not muted. I installed pavucontrol and under input devices there are 2 options: Analogue Input and Analogue Microphone. Both of them show the volume level hovering round about nothing. But slightly above, so I dunno, noise I guess.

Most of Audio is not operational including the Mic, the drivers are ALSA and,PulseAudio, it seems the Pulse is sitting on top of ALSA, and blocking its function, the alasmixer , only displays one column, which is the MASTER.The rest of Speakers Mics etc are not there. I tried using SKYPE, the Mic does not function at all,

I have had trouble with my sound since installing. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running 9.10 and I've being using skype for months with no issues, but today my microphone isn't working. I've tested the physical microphone on another machine and it works fine. I've tried skype, sound recorder and neither gets any input. I also have webcam and the microphone on that isn't working either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP dv4 1313dx, pavilion notebook computer. The Built in webcam seems to work OK, but I have absolutely no sound registering when I speak over webchat , or over just sound recordings when I talk at the computer. I'm not sure if it's a software issue or not. I upgraded to 10.4 beta because 9.10 wouldn't let me run my wireless card. So upgrading to the new beta version solved that, but as I said I noticed the built in mic on my notebook isn't picking up any sound. This is whether I'm using Skype, sound recorder, or AMSN for webchats.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavillion dv4 1313dx that has been running Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 wonderfully, but I am getting nothing out of the microphone.
I am a VERY beginning user (All I really know how to do in terminal is copy/paste, cd, ls, and, chown) and if I can fix this easily, I'd love it.
I already know to check the sound preferences, and nothing is picked up on the microphone, but I think it's there.
The microphone of my laptop doesn't work, I'm on a HP Pavilion dv7 and neither the build-in or a microphone plugged in works.
I tried many things (like this: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78574) to get it work, but none has worked. But I'm quite sure it worked in some earlier ubuntu version.
I'm running kubuntu so it's not a problem in pulseaudio.
Can anyone please help me with this, because I really hate it I have to restart in windows every time for the mic. code...
I updated my ubuntu today from 10.04.1 to 10.10 and my microphone stopped working. I spotted a message during the loading of 10.10 that modprobe failed starting because some file was missing.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 and everything went smooth. I was originally using Ubuntu 10.04 version installed via Wubu and decided it was time to make a true install of Ubuntu and decided to use 10.10.
I installed Skype and tried to have a phone convo, but the Microphone wasn't working. I tried to use yfrog.com to record a video from my webcam and the video worked fine, but no audio. I also tried the pre-installed sound recorder to record my voice but that also failed.
I'm running Xubuntu 10.10 on an ASUS Eee 1215T; the sound hardware on the system is a Realtek ALC259, and there's also sound output through HDMI with an ATI RS690/780 HDMI chip (both according to alsamixer). I was recently fiddling with the sound settings to try to get sound output through the HDMI port. I was successful in that, but I can no longer record sound using the built-in microphone. I'm pretty sure this is something I messed up, since sound recording worked correctly when I first installed Xubuntu, but I'm not sure what I need to do to fix it. I've tried all the promising-looking settings in gnome-volume-control and xfce4-mixer to no avail, and alsamixer also shows everything, both playback and capture, at 100% volume and un-muted; alsamixer also shows that the capture is turned on. I only used these tools (gnome-volume-control, xfce4-mixer, and alsamixer) to get the HDMI output working.

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 onto a Toshiba L30-10W. The built-in speakers work and the headphone jack work, but I can't get the microphone jack to work. I've tried all of the ALSA options (e.g.- options snd-hda-intel model=laptop), but none of them work.
