Jul 31, 2011I'm experiencing a problem running Banshee 2.0 on my Ubuntu 11.04 system. Basically, I'm getting the following fatal error, the code of which is quoted hereunder. Of note is that uninstalling and reinstalling Banshee (through Ubuntu Software Centre) doesn't fix this problem. Incidentally or not, I also seem to have a problem with my other (and preferred) media player, Amarok. This is the error code:

Software :: Adept Package Manager APT Database Error On Kubuntu 6.10?
Jul 12, 2010I am running Kubuntu 6.10. I opened adept package manager to create a new repository. It opened and I created the new repository (/home/dell/repository/)it went through. I closed adept. Opened adept and a error message reading this popped up: "The APT database could not be opened! This may because by incorrect APT configuration or some similar problem. Try running apt-setup and apt-get in terminal and see if it helps resolve the problem." I ran it in terminal (I was online) for both and update and upgrade in both apt-get apt-setup, but it tells me "E: type "/home/dell/repository/" is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list E: The list of sources could not be read." I tried opening Add/Remove Programs but it did the same thing as adept. I am a linux newbie, and haven't toyed with APT database. When I added the new repository I just opened Manage Repositories and then entered "/home/dell/repository/", clicked add and it was put on the list as "Comment | /home/dell/repository/" in a grey text. I right clicked on it and clicked enable, it stayed grey. I left the program then. How can I fix the APT database?

Feb 19, 2011We purchased a new database system at work last October, ditching the old system because of a lack of support from the vendor. This is a retail Point of Sale and Backoffice database system. I am not sure what system the new one runs on, but the system we replaced was a Firebird data base. The reason I am posting is because we are now in need of the information contained in the old database which was not completely imported into the new system. Unfortunately, we parted company with the old vendor under extremely hostile conditions, and they are not a source of help for this problem, nor are the new vendors.
Basically the problem is this: The database in on a Windows XP system and I found a copy of SQL Manager Lite 2008 on the system, which after quite a bit of studying, I figured out how to extract the database into a removable file. I have this file (178MB) on a USB stick in a file called Backoffice.fbd. I can get into this database with MySQL. All I want to be able to do get into the database and create tab deliminated spreadsheet files for each of the database sections (Customers, Repairs, Sales History, stock files, etc.) Is it possible to do this with Ubuntu and MySQL and if so, can an expert suggest one or two things to get me started.

Aug 27, 2010I'm new to Linux altogether. I installed World of Warcraft and have it running, but my framerates are low. I have it set to run in OpenGL already, so I figured I'd try to update my graphics driver. I downloaded the driver and it's a .run file. I have it set to run as an executable. When I run the file, I get a window that asks for my password. I input my password and press enter. Shortly, I get a window that says I need to run this file as super user. I tried to go into the command line and I typed "sudo home/nicholas/downloads/ati-driver-installer-10-8-x86.x86_64.run". I put in my password and Konsole tells me "run: command not found". How would I run this file in Konsole using super user?
