So, I do not understand why the notification "sudo: cd: command not found", considering cd is a bash built-in command.

Feb 25, 2011I just installed node.js and it is located at /home/apantev/local/node/bin . So I added the follow to my ~/.bashrc

And this works fine if I use node normally for instance

Aug 10, 2011'' Ubuntu 11.04'' I have used G-parted to make some free space for my windows partition '' 100 GB. But before windows is installed the Grub loader is already broken . So i decided to restore the GRUB in the live CD en start with sudo grub and i get this:

Mar 5, 2010I've just installed Debian on my old iMac G3. The install seemed to go ok but failed to load to the GUI. Thats ok I'll just enter some lines into the xorg.conf and it will be fine, or so I thought. Now at the shell prompt when I type in any sudo command it says: "sudo command not found" Is there an alternate command I can use in this situation.

Jun 21, 2011so i was removing softwares using ubuntu software center.. games i don't play and cheese webcam booth because it was not working, i intended to re-install it. after my installation, half my icons (i have extensively personalized my desktop) changed to defaults. The themes page said 'theme will not be as it appears because default.kde is not installed'. i did not remove any such package. just games. and furthermore, i installed a kubuntu plasma desktop system which i read in a thread contains the file default.kde but that hasn't helped and i still don't know what do to..

Jul 30, 2010I have a guy in my office who was using an old version of ubuntu and he tried upgrading to 10 but now he's getting grub error 17. I Google this and everyone suggests reinstalling grub starting with opening a shell and typing 'sudo grub'.
However, I get 'command not found' in response to that. I've tried looking for the location of grub so I could try 'sudo /sbin/grub' and such, but I don't see it anywhere.
Also, I'm using a version 9.10 Live CD at the moment because I can't find out how to disable the drmraid option on the version 10 CD (necessary to detect the hard drives which, although they are on a raid controller are not configured as an array but separate drives).

Well I am using L.A.M.P. Server on my computer so I can host a small forums. Well for example like lets say I install Word press Blog onto my lamp server and I want to install a theme well when i go to install a theme i can not because WPB can't install the theme because of the security stuff on Ubuntu!
Well I want to know if there is some kind of command or program i can use that will get rid of all the security stuff were i can edit stuff nice and easy. Like something that can give me FULL control over the OS so no more commands because I am going to be running a Vbulliten forums which needs themes and plug ins, well i want be able to install them because this OS will not let me!

Dec 9, 2010I am experiencing difficulty in installing BABYftp server. I have cpp source code downloaded from net. I am following the instructions in readme file. The command to run is autoconf && ./configure && make
but it is giving me error (last four lines) as-

Why is such error occuring?

Mar 28, 2011Alright setting up a friends netbook, display has been a little iffy (slow. glxgears is giving like 100fps). Couple issues: xorg.conf doesn't exist (i know thats typically not an issue) and "sudo xorg -configure" and "sudo xorg --configure" both return "xorg command not found."
glxinfo say that its using Mesa for the software rasterizer and that the driver is from mesa. lspci says the VGA controller is from Intel. I'm thinking xorg is defaulting to vesa for drivers, but I need to know how to change that to the open source intel driver
