View 5 RepliesI've got Pidgin 2.4.1 on my Hardy computer, and I got the 'Off The Record' plugin working with no problems: I went to Tools > Plugins, found 'Off The Record' in the list of plugins and checked the box - and now OTR works. On my Jaunty machine I've got Pidgin 2.5.5 installed - and I can't find the OTR plugin! I go to Tools > Plugins and look through the list, but OTR isn't there!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed Pidgin and the Facebook Plugin. However is there a bug with it? Because when I try to connect it says it can't retrieve my buddy list. On Fedora 12 this works with Pidgin problems. Is this a bug and is there a work around?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a partition, with windows 2000 on one side and ubuntu 8.10 on the other. I installed the ubuntu a year ago but only started using a few days ago. I am currently busy transfering all of my activities from Windows to Ubuntu. This transfer involved, among other things, an attempt to add the skype plugin to my pidgin software on ubuntu. Here are the instructions I followed (from the site Ubuntu Geek) :
[Code]...
After installing the plugin I opened pidgin but was unable to do anything with it. I later understood the reason -- namely, that a condition for this plugin to work was that skype had to be installed and running on my system. So i installed skype (but only after having added the plugin).
In any case, now my pidgin will not start. When I try to start the program, the little pidgin window flashes briefly on the screen and then disappears. Having absolutely no experience with linux systems I don't even know where to start looking for the problem. I thought of uninstalling and reinstalling pidgin, but I get a warning that this program shares vital components with other programs, so I dare not...
I have Ubuntu 9.04. I've installed Skype on it, and I have pidgin 2.5.5. I downloaded and installed the skype4pidgin plugin, and I've restarted Pidgin, I've restarted Skype, I've restarted the entire computer, and still Skype is not appearing in the available Accounts Type list when I go to add a new account.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to add a plugin to Pidgin, but I'm not really shure how to do it... I downloaded the binairy as a shared dll (.so) and copied it to the pidgin root folder (/usr/lib/pidgin/)... I was kinda hoping that would be sufficient, but (after restarting Pidgin) I still don't see the new plugin in the plugins-list. What am I doing wrong, or what should I do next?

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:

I am using Ubuntu 9.04. After doing sudo apt-get update When I try to insatll pidgin via terminal it shows: XXX@XXX-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install pidgin Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: pidgin: Depends: libpurple0 (>= 1:2.6.0) but it is not going to be installed Depends: perl (>= 5.10.0-19ubuntu1.1) but 5.10.0-19ubuntu1 is to be installed E: Broken packages
Previously after doing aptitude upgrade, my pidgin seems broken with no gui shown. So I decided to download the latest source from pidgin website and build it from source, but I think I made situation worse because it then complained that ssl lib was needed. Then I removed the libpurple (e.g. aptitude purge libpurple0 libpurple-bin libpurple-dev) and reinstalled pidgin (aptitude install pidgin). Now it shows the error
pidgin: symbol lookup error: pidgin: undefined symbol: purple_media_element_info_get_type
I searched on the internet and can not find a solution. The clues on the internet says that's because the piding I use is the older version of libpurple. But I think I've removed all with purge and reinstalled it. Maybe some legacy binary is referenced. What or where it might be? Or where there may contain related information.
i have this-for me huge problem- xfce4-xkb-plugin wont save my keyboard setup and it wont show after startup in xfce4 panel (xubuntu 9.10): I did this:
1) i added in /etc/default/console-setup needed keyboard layouts (de,hr,rs)-because i know that after restart xfce4-xkb-plugin will not memorize my layouts.

While using Rhythmbox this morning, I was greeted by a blunt and undiscriptive error message:
Code:
Plugin Error:Unable to activate plugin Cover Art.Going to the plugin page, I was supprised to find that most of the installed plugins would not load. Without any info being offered in the player, I looked on line. Many people had problems with other plugins, and most of the time it was a problem with an uninstalled python package. But I checked on this site and I found that I had all of these packages installed. (Well, the python ones at least, to check all of them would take forever.)
Code:

After finding no help there, I ran rhythmbox -d to debug:
Code:

The following plugin is required : MPEG-4 AAC decoder
Only certain mp3s have this problem. All gstreamer packages have been installed. What package is missing anyway?

In my frustration to get adobe flash working in firefox I deleted the /usr/lib/flash-plugin folder. Now when I try to uninstall "Flash-Plugin" from YAST it fails as it can't find the sub-folder. I also cannot install the latest version of flash player as it says that it is already installed - So I am stuck in a loop.
I am running SUSE 11.2.
Is there a config file of installed programs that I can modify to remove the "Flash-Plugin" entry, or is there another way to get over this problem.
Yesterday I wasn't able to successful enable JRE in my firefox. This is what I did ,
I downloaded the rpm from the file and installed it in /usr/java Code: chmod a+x jre-6u<version>-linux-i586-rpm.bin./jre-6u<version>-linux-i586-rpm.bin This successfully installed Firefox JRE in my system now in order to make firefox know abt it
I went to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins and
Code:
ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_24/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so as said in the instruction manual. Still firefox isn't able to recognise the plugin.
I recently began at a new company that uses google apps for domains. The problem is, there are nearly 150 employees and no centralized address book to speak of. I managed to get a list of legal names and email addresses out of the HR department, but I'd like to build my google address book as well as my pidgin buddy list.Pidgin buddy lists are in the format code...
I've tried to simply edit blist.xml, but the act of actually ADDING a buddy does more than simply stick them into your list, it actually performs a server action to do mutual authentication and stuff. So my question is: Is there a way I can run a script that will "add" all these people onto my buddy list without me having to type each email address and full name by hand?
There seems to have been a change in how you add buddies in Pidgin, since I last used Pidgin in Ubuntu. When I open the add buddy window in Pidgin I get the image attached. It allows me to "search" Personal or Ubuntu One from the drop down list, but nothing is ever populated in the main text area. Similarly, when I select a group from the drop down list in the lower right corner, it never selects it. Also when I click "New Person" it simply closes the window without ever adding a new buddy to my buddy list.
