Ubuntu :: Flashplayer 10.1 Beta All Pink?
Jan 30, 2010
I installed the new flashplayer beta 10.1 and the video is good except it is all a pink haze. It seems to have problems with colors. Im presuming it is to do with a flashplayer installation problem, or could it be my video settings etc ? (eg perhaps my integrated video card can't take the strain ?)

I am trying to use Skype beta on my acer aspire one with ubuntu 10.10. The video runs brilliantly and i can also here my wife from the other end but she cannot hear me. Apparently something is fishy with my mic input. I tried alsamixer and everything is in unmute. My alsa version is 1.0.23. The only think she hears is a loud hissing noise which is normally my bat voice but she doesnt need to know that. I can record my voice in the sound recorder but nothing comes out in Skype!

So here's the schedule for 10.04:
April 8th, 2010 - Beta 2 release;
April 22nd, 2010 - Release Candidate;
April 29th, 2010 - Final release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
If I have 10.04 beta 1, could I just continue to update and not have to burn another disk to install? Or do I have to burn the beta 2 and reinstall if I want it?

I downloaded an x64 version of the latest ubuntu 10.04 desktop. Burned it to a DVD at 1x speed in DVD Decrypter and upon booting up I got a pink screen that would sometimes change colors to purple, black, or grey. I thought it was a bad DVD so I burned another copy, didn't work. Maybe my download got corrupted and re downloaded it and burned it again didn't work.
Used the universial usb installer to install the iso to my new usb key which i removed all the contents before installing. This time I get to the black menu screen, except when I go to install to hard disk I get that same error again. Pink/purple screen most the time and flickering for the bottom 3/4 of my screen. If I reboot my pc the flickering still persists even in the BIOS and windows. I have to either reinstall my nvidia driver or wait like 20mins for it to fully dissipate.
p5w-dh deluxe (latest BIOS drivers) 2TB SATA I'm trying to install it on. I shrunk the partition down by 100GB to install ubuntu and pcbsd for each 50GB. I got windows 7 x64 and xp 32bit on the same hard drive which I arragned with EasyBCD e6600 8800gtx (latest windows drivers)
After all this I installed ubuntu 9.10 x64 on a DVD and pcbsd aswell they both installed perfectly no problems at all. Ubutnu I think installed on a different hard drive because it didn't detect the free partition space. There is defiantly something at least to my knowledge with the ubuntu DVD but it only appears on my hardware and temporary BIOS flickering is beyond strange.
So I'm wondering how I can troubleshoot this? I waited till ubuntu 10.04 came out to install ubuntu and I'm stuck with 9.10. And I'm very afraid to upgrade for this reason. The last think I want is a pink screen unable to be repaired because the USB/DVD won't work. Or should I wait for a more stable release or is ubuntu 10 crap all-together?

My update manager still says "updated 3 days ago" and no updates have come through today. Does anyone know if NBR has been automatically updated TODAY from Beta 1?

what can be done to make normal windows (gtk, metacity whatever) to look like this( i mean the menu bar and stuff you know in the attachment pics) I scanned the entire gnome-look, and google to make my own emerald theme, but couldnt find any tuts! dont post<a href="www.google.com" >this</a> any normal person does a google search before posting on a thread, trust me its a lot more easier to google than to write a para describing a problem

I have an iBook G3 and about 4 months ago after Mac OSX was corrupted I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it. During the install the screen was divided and partly blacked out but when I installed it, the resolution was fine and the OS encompassed the whole screen.
After a few weeks everything on the screen started to turn pink until all the colours on the whole screen were a shade of pink! I decided that I would abandon my laptop as I had a fully functioning Ubuntu desktop which was my preferable computer to use anyway.
Following the release of Ubuntu 10.04 I decided that I would try a fresh install on my laptop. When I started the install I was disappointed to find that the screen was divided and everything was shaded pink. I went ahead with the install regardless hoping that everything would be fine once I installed Ubuntu. Once again I was let down, the screen was still divided and pink. I have included some pictures for you to have a look at.

I try to watch flash content but everything is covered with a pink layer... (see attachment file). I am using firefox 3.6.1.5 (same prob with opera!) and flash 1.0.2.r152 in ubuntu 10.10 with compiz disabled and GPU Override set to true (no difference with false..) I tried FlashAID for a clean setup and I have only flashplugin-installer on my laptop (no gnash or libswf...), I also tried it with the package "adobe-flashplugin" same problem. This and the a2dp-skips are my last problems before a perfect setup.

today while using 10.04 Lucid Lynx 64 bit I decided to do something about the low resolution boot screen, I've seen the bugs thread but I thought startup manager would be the way to go Anyway I changed the resolution and the bits to the highest they would go I rebooted and I got the normal coloured boot screen but no logo just text, then I tried disabling text and enabling the boot logo Then I rebooted and the same thing again Then I removed startup manager and the whole boot screen turned bright pink and still had a text logo!

I decided to upgrade to Firefox 7 beta. It is the same story there. When I had Firefox 5, flash worked fineMy system is an amd quad-core 3ghz with ati 4200 graphics. Flash worked until my upgrades to Firefox 6 then to Firefox 7.

Yes there are probably about 10 000 security flaws with the old one but the performance of 10.1 just does not cut it for me. I was much happier with the old version and I was stupid enough to let it get upgraded.

I installed the newest Flash player in an update a few days ago, and now ever since last night, every time I watch a Flash video I get graphics problems. It looks as if the Flash video is stuck in the centre of the screen and if anything black (text, notifications) are in the way, they show the video behind them. Hard to explain what I mean Nothing shows up when I run ps ax.
In addition, all Flash videos are now jumbled up with pixels and weird looking glitches.
- Happens with Firefox, Minefield, and Chromium.
- Using latest proprietary NVIDIA drivers available in Jockey
- NVIDIA Geforce 8400m graphics
- Restarting or using Ctrl-Alt-Backspace always fixes the problem.

I'm running Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (kernel 2.6.31-24). After booting, when the "pink screen" comes up, the login dialog doesn't appear for about a minute, and the KB and mouse are frozen. It takes another 30 seconds before the KB and mouse unfreeze and I can type in my password.

I have ubuntu version 4.10 with Mozilla Firefox as a browser. I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player plugin but I do not know how to get the plugin installed. I can navigate through the terminal a little but still learning. I do not know how to save the (.tar.gz) download to the desktop so it can be unpackaged and then copied to the usr/lib/mozilla/plugins folder. I am hoping the same procedure to install this plugin will be the same for the rest of the browser plugins.

I have downloaded FireFox 4 RC (wow - fast!) and have a Flashplayer issue - the FarmVille game which uses the FlashPlayer does not load - the message was:
Code:
If your game does not load within 10 seconds, you may need to upgrade your version of Flash. Please do so by clicking here I did just that - usually Adobe website will tell you if your FlashPlayer is already up to date for the browser you access with it, OR, give you the option to update (which I did in my case) - but after updating, it still does not bring FarmVille up, and I get the same message, click the Adobe Link, and offers me to update it again.
Anyone know a workaround - because the new Firefox has the speed like Google Chrome does, and FireFox has been my favorite for years, but I have resorted to using Google Chrome for the past several months due to its speed (I have only 1 MB DSL download speed, and it seems that FarmVille is better with such speed).
I'm using openSUSE 11.4 KDE.

I have a problem with Adobe Flashplayer 10. It seems to be incompatible with a countdown timer on a specific site. I use firefox and when I open the site firefox freezes , hangs for a while and then I get an Adobe flashplayer 10 error stating the script encountered a problem. This is how and know the problem is the adobe flash and I know it is with that countdown timer as it only started when that was added to the site. Obviously it is a compatibility problem as it doesn't hapen on my Windows pc.
My question is two parts: a. Is there another flash player I can try with Firefox and b. If yes How do I uninstall the Adobe Flashplayer and install the other one.
Ubuntu 10.04.1 64 bit with all latest automatic updates , browser is Firefox.

I am running Ububtu Linux 10.04. When I attempt to install the latest version of the Adobe flashplayer (10.0.45.2ubuntu1), the Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) tries to remove flashplugin-nonfree and install flashplugin-installer. That fails with the message
Code:
E: flashplugin-nonfree: Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal. So, then I attempted to reinstall flashplugin-nonfree package but the SPM does not allow me to either install or remove the broken flashplugin-nonfree package. I tried the same things using the Ubuntu Software Center (USC) with the same failure.
Tried:
Code:
$ aptitude show flashplugin-nonfree
Code:
Package: flashplugin-nonfree
State: partially configured
Automatically installed: no
[code].....
