I've Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome. Howto install flashplayer plugin for Firefox?
I've done the following:

# sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
but still doesn't work.
I've tried installing flash player using the slackbuild and files provided on [URL]
After installation everything looks well and good:
bash-3.1$ slocate libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib64/firefox-3.5.2/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
bash-3.1$
But flash still won't work in Firefox.
I get the following errors:
/usr/lib64/firefox-3.5.2/plugins/libflashplayer.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
The same error is also reported for both mozilla/plugin directories state above.
I want to install flash player plugin for my Mozilla firefox in terminal, so that I can watch video, what kind of command that I must type in terminal?

On my lucid install I upgraded to Firefox 6. Once I did that, I discovered that flash-player crashed. I tried flash-aid and tried every possible flash alternative.That did not work either. I decided to upgrade to Firefox 7 beta. It is the same story there. When I had Firefox 5, flash worked fineMy system is an amd quad-core 3ghz with ati 4200 graphics. Flash worked until my upgrades to Firefox 6 then to Firefox 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have ubuntu version 4.10 with Mozilla Firefox as a browser. I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player plugin but I do not know how to get the plugin installed. I can navigate through the terminal a little but still learning. I do not know how to save the (.tar.gz) download to the desktop so it can be unpackaged and then copied to the usr/lib/mozilla/plugins folder. I am hoping the same procedure to install this plugin will be the same for the rest of the browser plugins.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed the greasemonkey script "..... without flash auto" to replace the ..... player with the default totem plug-in in firefox. The script is awesome because now I don't get bogged down with flash when watching ......
Everything works as expected, but the problem is that the plugin doesn't stream, I have to wait until the video finishes loading before I can play it. Ironically, if i don't use the plugin and directly open the video cache in /tmp with totem, it was able to play even when the video wasn't finished loading.
I am not sure if this is normal, but I find it a huge annoyance. Does anyone else running this script have the same problem? I don't know if it is the script, the plugin, or my configs in general. A push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

The symptom is that I can't no more listen to my favorite Web Radio [URL] if you want get a try, very good music: ). It's a steaming with the url like "mms://web-stite-broadcasting". I swear few upgrades ago it was working. I can't remember when exactly stopped, probably with the last firefox update. What happen? I can see the Totem Browser Plugin 2.30.2 loading and then..."Stopped", he says. If I click on "open with Movie Player", Totem starts and give the error "Could Not Write to resource".
Beside curse my browser I purged/reinstalled firefox and some plugins without success. The odd thing is that other web radios seems to play when, as I can see, the (in)famous plugin-container is not executed, I don't know why.
Opening any flash video with the flash player plugin cause my CPU to go to 100% (even more but I assume that's just top reporting dual core or something. I want to watch ..... and stuff without burning up my CPU so I need to fix this.

Although I did install the package flashplugin-nonfree, in debian that I'm a little more used to flashplugin-nonfree provided libflashplayer.so and not flashplugin-alternative.so which seem to be the one all my browsers are using. However about plugins in firefox says very little except "application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash". Can I just replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so and maybe make some links or something or would that be bad?
The process using my CPU is reported as plugin-containe but it only happens with flash video and not any other plugins. If the video is playing, paused or stopped/not started makes no difference. I did replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so, it didn't help. Seems firefox was using that plugin all along, presumably from here "/usr/share/ubufox/plugins/". I can't imagine I'm the only one who wants a fix for this here, there should be hordes. I use the latest kbuntu, flash player, firefox and kernel all from the repo.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with Flashplayer 10.1 d51 screwing up the colors on a lot of videos, .....,etc. It is really strange and hard to describe. it makes the video almost like it has a pink curtain over the video and only able to see outlines of the video subject matter. When the scene changes, it while sort of clear and then spread again. I can boot into Ubuntu 9.10 and can play the video just fine.
It doesn't do it on all videos. But, it does it quite often. Plus, I have another Slack 13 system with S3 Virge that plays the same videos just fine.

I have a Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD (and I plan to keep using it as just a LiveCD); this works fine.
Firefox works fine too, and installing a flash player plugin is all right.
The problem appears when I reboot and see that Firefox no longer has the flash plugin installed.
So I tried making a persistent image USB stick for this, added the persistent keyword at the end of the boot options, and Firefox still forgets that it can actually play ..... videos.
The persistent image USB seems to be doing something, at least browsing through it shows several folders, for instance /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin which constains a file libflashplayer.so
It's just that Firefox doesn't seem to care. What else should I do?
Sometimes for web TV one is offered a menu where the video is divided into sub chapters where you can jump right to this part of the video by clicking in a chapter menu (very similar to playing a DVD). Well, this does not work for me. Clicking a sub chapter only set the video to play from start, and sliding the bar only freezes the player with a white screen. I'm running 10.04 (64b), Firefox 3.6.9, with the latest Totem-plugin.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Adobe Flashplayer 10. It seems to be incompatible with a countdown timer on a specific site. I use firefox and when I open the site firefox freezes , hangs for a while and then I get an Adobe flashplayer 10 error stating the script encountered a problem. This is how and know the problem is the adobe flash and I know it is with that countdown timer as it only started when that was added to the site. Obviously it is a compatibility problem as it doesn't hapen on my Windows pc.
My question is two parts: a. Is there another flash player I can try with Firefox and b. If yes How do I uninstall the Adobe Flashplayer and install the other one.

I am trying to install the ALEKS plugin in firefox 3.6.7. ALEKS is a math education suite type thing, and I am using it to get into college classes. In order for the ALEKS plugin to work, I need to things: Java and their plugin. ALEKS provides a linux plugin [URL]... but from the description, it looks like it hasn't been updated for quite a while (since the days of netscape I suppose.)
I contacted them and asked about the situation. They gave me the above link and told me they didn't give support for the linux plugin, but the page has instructions so I figured maybe the geniuses at ubuntuforums can possibly get it working with a little elbow grease. Now, on the driver download page it says this:
To download manually the plug-in on Linux for Netscape 7.1+, or Firefox 1.0+, or Mozilla 1.6+, you will have to download the ALEKS package file and save it on your computer in the "Java VM lib/ext" directory. For instance, with the Sun Java VM version 1.4.1, this directory is usually:
/usr/java/j2re1.4.1/lib/ext/ or /usr/local/j2re1.4.1_02/lib/ext/ I tried cd'ing to those directories but they don't exist. My main question is, what is the equivalent for the default java installation that comes with ubuntu?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSometimes in BBC iPlayer - Bigscreen the fullscreen video does not open on top, and then none of the lirc remote control commands (irxevent) function, not even Escape (nor Alt-TAB, which would bring the fullscreen on top if I used the keyboard - but sitting in the TV couch I would prefer using the remote only).
This often happens on my SuSE 10.2 partition, especially when wanting to resume a video, but never happens on my Kubuntu 9.10 partition. Both are 32-bit using KDE 4.3.5 Firefox 3.5.8 and Adobe Flash 10,0,45,2.
How can I get the fullscreen on top??
Everything worked fine until yesterday, but now when I open Firefox and I try to load a video, I simply get the black video. It's like it is loading but nothing appear and nothing happens! The page is loaded but the video is not shown
I changed anything, I tried to "reinstall" the .so flash plugin... but no luck :S
I also tried to start firefox from command line to see if there's something wrong but nothing...
It's like the loading time for the flash video is infinite.

I failed to install flash-plugin on my firefox My firefox is installed on path "/home/<<user>>/firefox"
1) I tried to install flash plugin by rpm -Uvh flash-plugin-10.0.32.18-release-i386.rpm It is not working as the files are not installed on the folder /home/<<user>>/firefox/
2) yum install flash-plugin It returns "nothing to do"
3) I extracted and copied the files in the rpm to /home/<<user>>/firefox/flash-plugin then create a link by ln -s /home/<<user>>/firefox/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so /home/<<user>>/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so When I open the firefox, it crashed.
How could I install this plugin manually?
I just installed F11KDE, and I am trying to get it to run Flash content in Firefox. I have been searching for solutions for well over an hour and have found nothing that works. How can I get my installation of the Firefox browser to play Flash content. How do I install it? I have tried

I have messed with things I shouldn't have so I am going to reinstall F14..Could someone please explain how to install the JDK from oracle and get the plugin working for firefox please?
