View 5 RepliesOn FC11 64 bit with Adobe flash plugin for Linux installed, I see segfault errors from "npviewer" in /var/log/messages. The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have xfce on my machine, running lucid lynx. For some weird reason, I can't change my firefox home page. I've changed it to the same one time and again in preferences, but every time I open firefox, it shows all the files in my home directory, including hidden ones. I uncheck the "show hidden files box", change it again in "preferences", but it still does this. And the home page in "preferences" is set to the right page I want; firefox just won't go there when I start it up. I really don't want my home directory in plain view like that; how do I make firefox recognize my settings?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to download and show a source of an webpage in stdout, but this is a https page with authentication form, which requires logging in. I tried like this:
Code:
wget -q --no-check-certificate --http-user=USERNAME --http-password=PASSWORD https://webpage.domain.com -O - However, it still downloaded only this login page, not the real webpage. Using the Firefox I can authenticate just fine. Any ideas?
I have a Canoscan LiDE 30 scanner which works fine in Linux. I haven't used it in months, and never since moving from Jaunty x86_64 to Fedora 11 x86_64. This evening I suddenly need to scan two pages to send to someone via e-mail, and the recipient is desperate to receive them. Naturally, Xsane has decided this is the moment to screw me.
The problem: I cannot figure out how to tell Xsane that the page size is 8.5 11. It insists on scanning only the left side, 3.99 x 11. I cannot find a page size anywhere in any of the buttons.
In Preview I once got it to scan the entire page, but could not figure out how to save the image to file. Subsequently I have not been able to figure out how I did it. In any event, scanning from the small main window always scans 3.99 x 11. Adjusting the scan area manually in the Preview window allows me to change the size area in the small main window to 8.5 x 11, but when I then scan from the small main window it reverts to 3.99 x 11.
I have scanned the document a hundred times at least, each time trying different buttons, but nothing has succeeded in getting the full page.
I'm using fedora 14. And I have installed apache, PHP and MySQL. I tried testing PHP with phpinfo(). But when I view it view my browser (localhost/test.php) it just shows the code itself instead of displaying the phpinfo page. This is the content of my test.php page.
<?php

When I try to install Ubuntu OS everything works well to the last step. At last step it ask me for my user name while it is installing the OS at background. Then it says "ready" but nothing change. I can move mouse over the screen but there is nothing to push like "finish installation button" or something like that. I wait for 2 hours and nothing changed. There is no error code. Then I decide to reset Pc and try to see if it installed grub or not, but there is no grub at booting page. I started to OS installation again and same problem occur for 6 trials. I have intel i3 proccessor with graph card and gigabyte h57m-usb3 motherboard. OS: Ubuntu 10.10.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI decided to install the Ubuntu Netbook remix (9.10, I believe) on this extra IDE hard drive I had (my other three hard drives are SATA.) My primary hard drive contains a Windows XP, my second contains Windows 7, and my third SATA drive is just NTFS-formatted storage. I went through the installer and choose to format and install on my 40GB IDE hard drive, which it did. Then it finished and rebooted. It apparently decided to install the GRUB bootloader onto the primary hard drive (not the one it was installed on,) which was not my intention. The bootloader froze the boot of my computer and wouldn't work. (Stuck at loading GRUB.) I couldn't even get to the BIOS. So I pulled the plug on the primary hard drive and tried to boot again. I could get into Windows 7 just fine, but that was it. The problem, though, is that the CD drive (also SATA) no longer shows up in My Computer. Also, after changing the boot order and replugging in the former primary hard drive, it wouldn't show up, either. Nor would the IDE one (though I'm pretty sure that's because Windows doesn't understand the EXT (or whatever Ubuntu uses) file system.
Does anyone know why this occurred and how to get those drives to show up in Windows again? I don't really care to get the netbook remix working here, since this isn't even a laptop, it was just an experiment. Also, I'd love to know how to remove GRUB from my primary hard disk so that I can boot from it again.
I have a laptop which have vista, fedora 12. Today i have install another operating system ubuntu in my laptop. But when i restart it, it not boot up and show black screen. how to resolve this
View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot print pdf files. I have tried using okular and xpdf. The documents display in the program, but print preview shows a blank page. Installed Fedora 12 from a DVD on clean HD. When I rebooted after the install it bought me back to the install options page. If I remove DVD it asks to put it back in so it can boot but it goes back to the install options page. What should I check or do?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm using OpenSUSE 11.2 64 bit. Sometimes boot fails and I get a black screen. It starts quite normal, but when it tries to start X and KDE, it fails and I only see a black screen. I can't switch to terminal and I can not reboot my computer by pressing "Ctrl + Alt + Del". It doesn't even shutdown by pressing the power-button. The only possibility is to switch off the computer. Then it normally starts.
The problem also occures with a clean installation of OpenSuse. And it cannot be solved by updating kernel, X-Server and KDE.
What files do you need? I'll post them.
The same computer worked fine with OpenSUSE 11.1. I think, the new radeon driver could be the problem, I have to use it because I can not use fglrx anymore as with 11.1
I take a look into my log-files, but I cannot see any error. Sometimes it seems, that /var/log/messages is partly overwritten by restarting the machine.

I'm trying to make some pages. For this I try to host them locally. However, when I have an error in my PHP code, the server shows an internal error 500 page and doesn't show on what line and what compile error it encountered. There is no such information in the error log either. What should I do about it, it's not really nice to comment all the lines and then try to uncomment them one by one. I've been googling for a while, but didn't find anything.. I forgot to mention, I;m using Fedora :P, the apache that came with it and mysql and php from the repository...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded to Ubuntu 9.1 and now my mobile broadband connection will not work. The dongle says it is connected to my provider but Firefox is telling me it cannot find the web page. Everything was working perfectly before the upgrade!

can't find a page that lists what improvements were made over 10.04lts bugs fixed, etc. My problem is scanner / print software 10.04 found my printer and prints fine. Unless there is a power outage. Then I have to manually enter in the sometimes new URL. Because 10.04 does NOT actively rescan for the printer.
But none of the software actuates the scanner. signal is sent to scan, but never actually scans and retrieves the image. Using a Epson NX515 scanner / printer all in one. Found a page on the web that supposedly has drivers etc for this, but not sure I should try to download and install. Tried all scan software listed in the Ubuntu software center none work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled fedora the other day, and it's been working just fine, apart from the internet. It shows that I have a full connection with the wireless network, but it's really difficult to actually load a page. 80% of the time it just fails and shows "Page Load Error". It's really frustrating because it is connected to the internet. In fact, the icon in the address bar even loads from the site I try to access, but websites just will not load.
I've tested my wireless internet with another laptop which is running vista, and it works perfectly on that. Also, I'm running Fedora 10 on an Acer Extensa laptop.
There is a very conspicuous inaccuracy in the output of df. I should mention, that it was noticed to to a sudden change in the amount of space that was left on the backup partition. The df -h command produces the following output.
