View 1 RepliesThe lyrics plugin doesn't work in Banshee 1.7.3. It did seem to work in one of the earlier builds but not in any of the recent builds. When I try to activate the lyrics, Banshee says 'waiting for playback to begin'. The lyrics never appear.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Banshee's alarm plugin installed. From Banshee's menu, I click on Tools → Alarm Clock → Sleep Timer. The timer looks like it should be set according to 24-hour time, so I set it for 2 minutes past the current time and click "Okay". The timer doesn't turn off the music when the designated time comes and goes. Thinking that maybe it's a countdown timer, I just set the thing to 2 minutes, but 2 minutes later the music keeps playing on and on. I go Tools → Alarm Clock → Alarm and put a check mark in "Enable Alarm" and try the sleep timer again, but still it doesn't work. I'm running 10.04 64-bit.

Banshee 1.7.5 supports the ipod touch and iphone but i can not figure out how to get it on Ubuntu. Its not in synaptic yet and i can not compile from source because it always says

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GST_CFLAGSand GST_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
I download the tar ball of banshee 2.10,after unzipping, how to install it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I installed banshee 1.6.1 from the default repository it worked fine. But I wanted the newest version (1.8.0) for its new features and so I've tried both adding their (openSUSE 11.3) repository and doing it through yast and also installing it (for openSUSE 11.3) straight from their website with the "1-click install". Both of these methods did the exact same thing, just the latter added the repository for me (much simpler/lazier). Now, after installing banshee 1.8.0, it does not show up in the application launcher menu. So, I'm not sure how to open it and/or add it to the kickoff menu.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to install the latest version on my system, so I go to the Banshee download site, and do the install for SuSE 11.0. That brings up the Yast2 installer, which tries to do the install, but barfs with message something like "banshee-1-backend-engine-gtkstreamer-1-1.5.1-1.1.i586 required, uninstallable providers bansheexxxx [OpenSUSE_11.0],Conflict resolution: following actions will be done" with a long list of actions. So I click on "OK-Try Again", but it doesn't DO anything, just endlessly repeats the same message. Is there some way to bypass this, and get it to actually install?

While using Rhythmbox this morning, I was greeted by a blunt and undiscriptive error message:
Code:
Plugin Error:Unable to activate plugin Cover Art.Going to the plugin page, I was supprised to find that most of the installed plugins would not load. Without any info being offered in the player, I looked on line. Many people had problems with other plugins, and most of the time it was a problem with an uninstalled python package. But I checked on this site and I found that I had all of these packages installed. (Well, the python ones at least, to check all of them would take forever.)

After finding no help there, I ran rhythmbox -d to debug:

I've been using linux for several years now, and given that I get banshee running I can completely do away with Micro$ux . But here is where I've run into a bit of a problem. Obviously since I'm running slackware I know that the package manager will not have every program I want. I also know that when I build a package from source there will be some dependencies I do not have, and I need to adapt and overcome. I've been working away at the dependencies for a couple hours, and one is killing me "taglib-sharp 2.0.3.7".
I downloaded that exact package (as it is the newest version) and installed from source (simple "./configure && make && make install"). Worked just fine, seemed to have installed with no errors during make and no missing dependencies during config. That would lead me to believe it installed, however the configure script for banshee is still complaining that it can't find any taglib-sharp at all. So I redownloaded the source and tried again to no avail. Below is the exact output of the banshee config (though it's just as you'd expect).

I am trying to install the ALEKS plugin in firefox 3.6.7. ALEKS is a math education suite type thing, and I am using it to get into college classes. In order for the ALEKS plugin to work, I need to things: Java and their plugin. ALEKS provides a linux plugin [URL]... but from the description, it looks like it hasn't been updated for quite a while (since the days of netscape I suppose.)
I contacted them and asked about the situation. They gave me the above link and told me they didn't give support for the linux plugin, but the page has instructions so I figured maybe the geniuses at ubuntuforums can possibly get it working with a little elbow grease. Now, on the driver download page it says this:
To download manually the plug-in on Linux for Netscape 7.1+, or Firefox 1.0+, or Mozilla 1.6+, you will have to download the ALEKS package file and save it on your computer in the "Java VM lib/ext" directory. For instance, with the Sun Java VM version 1.4.1, this directory is usually:
/usr/java/j2re1.4.1/lib/ext/ or /usr/local/j2re1.4.1_02/lib/ext/ I tried cd'ing to those directories but they don't exist. My main question is, what is the equivalent for the default java installation that comes with ubuntu?
I went to a page in firefox that I knew requires flash, and saw the little button saying that firefox was trying to install a missing plugin. I hit the button and it gave me three options on the plugin. I selected adobe flash. I then got a popup that says, "Could not find package, 'flashplugin_installer" -

I'm trying to install the GeoIP plugin for AWStats. I've installed the packages geoip-database, libgeoip1, and libgeo-ip-perl. geoip-database installs the database file at /usr/share/GeoIP/GeoIP.dat, so that's the path I'm using in my AWStats config file. When I try to run AWStats on my logs, it hangs without generating any files. No debug messages about this are printed when I enable them. I've also tried installing libgeo-ipfree-perl and uncommenting the geoipfree line in my conf file, but that didn't work either.
Possibly useful detail: I previously tried installing the GeoIP C library and Perl module manually, which didn't work, and then I tried installing the Pure Perl module manually, which also didn't work. I simply deleted them all, which I'm not sure was a good idea. I don't know anything about this stuff.
