Does anyone know the wine version needed to run the online installer of WoW? I get stuck on the End User License Agreement because I cannot click Agree. Oh and if you know, how do I go about getting that version?

I'm trying to install wine. First I'm not a hot shot Linux guy. I tried to follow the download instructions for wine.
1. I downloaded wine_gecko-1.2.0-x86.msi to /usr/share/wine/gecko and downloaded wine-1.3.17-1.1.i586.rpm to /usr/share/wine
When I try to install I get message that wine_gecko version>= to 1.1 is needed.
when I tried to install wine I got "Missing Dependency: wine-gecko is needed by package wine"so I looked for wine-gecko and download it but also when I tried to install it I got "Missing Dependency: wine-gecko is needed by package wine"it seems that I am in loop each package need the other what to do please?

I have fedora 14 installed on my dell laptop and I am trying to install wine (wine-core). I downloaded it in rpm format but when in tried to install it I got a message that I needed to install two more packages (nss-mdsn and wine-common). I installed nss-mdsn but when I tried to install wine-common I got a message that I have to install wine core for it and when I tried to install wine-core. I got a message to install wine-common first and I tried to install both of them at the same time but still it didn't work. I cant install it online with yum because of a few other problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed today's boat load of updates. During the installation a Microsoft agree to the EULA screen came up from the referenced package. Screw that I said and did not agree. The update installations seemed to run with no problems. This evening I found that the fonts used by an application which I run under wine (Forte Agent news reader) had gone to crap. All very light and hard to read.
I manually installed the offending package and agreed to the EULA. It downloaded and installed a bunch of fonts. The wine environment seems to be OK.So then I restored my OS from a recent g4l snap shot. I installed all updates except for 4 related to ttf fonts. Again the wine environment seems OK.Why is Canonical providing something which requires a Microsoft EULA I wonder?

"Cannot create needed files of not enough disk space". I have over 35 gb unused space. I removed wine (purged) and re-installed -- still no good. It however works on my laptop that has same configuration (9.10)??

That is, when I click an entry in RSS Now widget, Konqueror opens, but instead of going to the web, it displays the cached version of the page (i.e. from /var/tmp/kdecache-[username]/krun/...).Initially I thought it is related to the widget (RSS Now), but the same thing happened when Konqueror was called by another program (Google Desktop > preferences): it opened the cached version of the page instead of what I've expected (localhost on some port).As I see these things, it seems there is a setting making Konqueror/KDE to preload some pages (I guess it's related to a KDE service). The problem is it subsequently displays the cache, not the online version.

I want to make an ISO installer which will install debian with the recompiled kernel as well as the custom software in its default configuration state.
I have wine 1.0.1 , I don't know how to install the latest version ? should i remove the one I currently have?

I've tried getting it to run with Wine but it doesn't trust any executable file. I then tried using Ubuntu Software Centre to see if there is a Ubuntu version but so far I can't seem to get even that version to work. The main issue though is that it would be nice to be able to run software via Wine and I don't know why I can't figure that out lol.

I'm very happy using openSUSE Linux and I have installed a few applications, but only using the Yast2 methods and RPM groups. The latest available wine version on the Yast2 enabled installation is 1.1.28-2.3 which was built last October. The latest available wine version on the winehq.org web site is 1.1.44. The newest version of wine 32-bit (1.1.32?) seems to be a disaster. I had Newsbin Pro working great in Fedora 10. Now this program won't run with wine.i686 on Fedora 12 x64.
I have tried Crossover Linux 8 standard and Newsbin Pro works with that. Crossover is using wine 1.1.18. However that will cost me $40.
How do I install an older version of wine with the dependencies in Fedora 12 x64?

I'm using a remix of F14 called Fusion Linux. It's all the same as fedora14. It's come preinstalled with xorg x11 nouveau driver. So, i'm not using Nvidia driver. Now, the problem is that the graphics in wine application are really poor. Fonts appear to be really hazy. See this image to get me better: [URL].. In earlier version of fedora and wine, i used nvidia driver. Graphics used to be good at that time.

View 12 Replies View Relatedwhile trying to get a game to work on wine I was surprised to find out that the wine version that ships with sid is 1.0.1 released in October 2005. So I installed the latest release I found at [URL] like this :
dpkg -i wine_1.1.42~winehq1-1_amd64.deb
The install failed, I think because I hadn't remove the old wine version, and that's when the joy-ride started. Impossible to remove wine to restart properly. (apt-get remove libwine wine and apt-get -f install didn't) After some googling I tried this :
dpkg -i --force-depends wine_1.1.42~winehq1-1_amd64.deb
This did install the wine version I wanted, and the game ran fine after that. However the result was a borked apt-get. Tried to remove wine again with the above commands, resulting in apt-get failing to do so because it tried installing wine-unstable and reported errors similar to these : E: Could not perform immediate configuration on 'wine-unstable'. see man 5 apt.conf under APT::Immediate-Configure for details. This was after I compiled WINE from source and removed it with "make uninstall" and "rm -rf /.wine".So now I installed the WINE from a deb package and the Wine menu entry is not showing up.I've tried re-installing Wine and rebooting my PC but nothing seems to work.

I've followed alien bobs instructions for a multilib environment from here:[url]
And then used sbopkg to download and compile wine version 1.2.2, which went through just fine.
After that I grabbed cabextract from sbopkg and ran this: wget [url] sh winetricks d3dx9 To get the DX9.
But, when I try to run the game, this is the error I get:

The game it self ran perfectly on the 32 bit version of Slackware, tested with 13.0. So now I think I'm missing some libs or something, but I have no clue which.
