I need some piece of software that follows the requirements below. So here's the scenario:
1. I need some piece of software that will allow me to edit related articles in a wiki-like fashion. I will be the only one editing this "wiki" though.
2. I need to be able to do searches/queries on the wiki content in a very flexible but also very concise way:
- The usual search for an expression in all articles or only some category(ies) but also:
- Wiki links to other wiki pages based on configurable criteria, e.g. articles belonging to some category(ies): I mean something like right-clicking would open a sort of database form to perform a query that would use the said link as expression but would only be run after you'd chosen your other criteria.
- If anyway possible, do the above for any selected text on the page you were watching...
3. Ideally this would be one single application of course. But I'm perfectly alright with coupling two or even more together as long as they do integrate with each other flawlessly.

I was looking at the MythTV wiki to look at possible developments related to some troublesome hardware of mine, and I noticed that all the tuner card pages are being removed...
The message reads "clearing out local tuner pages" ...
There are significant pieces of information that are being removed... Some of which are not present on the wikis for related projects (like IVTV).
Does anyone know; Is this an official edit?!
Also the MythTV.org home page is looking pretty.
Is there something going on within the MythTV developer community?

I have created a database which stores students grades for different stages of a project. One of the stages of the project is the specification part. I have a simple bit of html code which is going to be used as the searching facility. I want the user to be able to enter their ID and then it will display only their results. At the moment, it is displaying the results for EVERY student because I cant seem to find the correct syntax for my statement.

At the moment when i click the button, no matter what I enter every students marks appear on the screen.
I think, but obviously dont know for sure because if i did i would know how to solve the problem, the code that i need to change is in green.

I've got a database and I've got a Java program that I'm programming in Netbeans that is suppose to run queries to the database. how I will set about to connect the database with the Java program so that I can run the queries?
It is very important that I learn how to do this, else I am forced to go back to XP in order to finish this project on time.

I have an access database and I would like to build a website on the slackware 12.2 server running apache 2.11.14 to let users query data from the MS Access database. I am thinking that I could just do it in jscript and make a jdbc connection and that should be good. What do you guys think.

I've been using Akregator as an RSS reader for years and never had a problem until this morning. It will fetch new feeds, in the "Feed" pane it will show that there are unread articles, but if you click on the feed, no unread articles show up in the article pane. I know there have been updates. Also, if I click on "All Feeds" (where there are supposed to be 461 articles) only 15 articles are actually displayed. I don't know what could have caused this. I tried nuking my akregatorrc and the .kde/share/apps/akregator/Archive directory, but it doesn't help. The only thing I changed yesterday was upgrading to the new Flash player. I'm guessing that's irrelevant.FWIW, this is in Slackware64 13.1 using KDE 4.4.3 and Akregator 1.6.3.

Running knode with 11.3 and KDE 4.5 (same problem with 4.4) it is
impossible to drag articles into local folders. Indeed there seems no
way of using local folders at all. Is this a bug, or something wrong
with my setup?

Somebody, without saying anything to us, has deleted (not moved) a lot of wiki pages for laptop testing and setup guide. A lot of people were working hardly to document as best as possible each laptop computer to configure Ubuntu GNU/Linux.

I have changed to ubuntu a few months ago from windows, where I used to have a mediawiki set up on a local server. This wiki was used for notes, archiving, document management, file storage, calendaring, almost everything that most people do with a normal directory tree on their drives.
Unfortunately, I have not yet managed to install a local media wiki on my ubuntu 10.04 LTS system so far. I have tried it once and messed up the php-stuff so badly that I had to reinstall the entire system in order for it to work in a acceptable speed.
how to set up a current version mediawiki (or an older version, if that's the only chance) as a local wiki in 10.04 LTS? There is no network access to the wiki, just local access using a firefox browser on the machine where it is installed.

I'm tryin' to set a wiki system using phpWiki (Debian Squeezy + PHP5).I'm having two issues:1) When using Firefox (3.6) or Internte Explorer, if I load the "home page", http://myHost/phpwiki/(I put php under /var/www/phpwiki directory) the browser ask if I want to download the file.If I use another browser (ex Midori or Arora) the php works and display de home page.Am I missing something with the Apache or phowiki config.? If I use a test php page works ok both with Firefox or IE.2) In phpwiki config I selected $LANG="es" in order to use spanish language. But it didn't work up to now.

I was trying to install virtualbox-ose using the wiki page on debian.org and following the installation instructions for squeeze! But in the installation process, I saw this error: No suitable module for running kernel found . And when I try to run virtualbox nothing happens! I'm using this kernel: 2.6.32-5-686. I tried re-installing use the deb package from the virtualbox website but I had the same error. Does anyone had this before? any ideas on how to correctly configure it ?

I would like to grab wiki code from a wiki page using wget. Running this grabs HTML:
wget -O wikihtml.html [URL]
The first attempt at getting wiki code was to pretend to edit, and run:
wget -O wikiedit.html [URL]
but of course that grabs GUI HTML. I thought perhaps the text inside the text box would be in tact, but HTML is througout. How to get just the raw wiki code?

I've been reluctant to post regarding this topic as I have tried and retried all of the "noob solutions" to get flash sound working but no luck- I need help! I suspect that it has to do with my system showing two sound cards (0 and 1) ; I tried different asoundrc file options from the ALSA Wiki but no luck. I am still left with Flash=No Audio.

am using zabbix open source solution for systems monitoring. I am facing a problem and discussed it on zabbix forum. my post was as "My zabbix server is behaving abnormally, approximately daily from 9 to 12, the server stop accumulating logs. I observed that the server report is RUNNING but it did not accumulate log values and also the machine have no extra load. I am writing a simple application that will run as user foo (i.e. Ubuntu user foo).However, the application will connect to my database as (database user foobar). IIRC, database users have nothing to do with Linux system users - but I just need to clarify that.So can an app launched to run as user 'foo', connect to a database as user 'foobar'?

I recently moved into a new place and when I hooked up my webserver, I wasn't able to bring up my page, even from localhost. With some digging, it seems that I can't access the database that housed my posts (wordpress installation). I looked for the datadir in MySQL and that directory shows the wordpress directory that should be holding the database and all the files are still there. 1) why the database no longer shows up 2) how to restore the database from the files?

Having some trouble with a new install of Ubuntu 11.04. I use it for work, so I do tend to run quite a few programs at a time. Namely Pidgin, Firefox, Thunderbird, Chrome, Osmo, LibreOffice Calc, Calculator and Text Editor. Sometimes I'll listen to music using VLC. Sometimes (and I can't figure out when), I will be suddenly logged out without warning. Just BAM, black screen then back to the login screen. I've lost work from this happening.
My only clue is that it hasn't happened when I was not running VLC, but then again it doesn't happen consistently while running VLC. Also, it happened today when I wasn't running VLC but was using Calibre (along with my usual programs). Maybe I'm doing too much at one time? Maybe it's the RAM? How do I view an error log about what happened?

I've setup a CentOS apache web server, and loaded a site onto it. The site previously was functioning under windows xp (before I "stepped in") and wamp. What I did was copy the site in /var/www, reconfigure the httpd.conf (DocumentRoot /var/www/site, etc). Although when I try to open the webpage I get this error: Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available.

I am trying to add subdomains on ubuntu 9.10 desktop edition and and I am not sure whether I need to add some info.(such as 127.0.0.1 sub1.example.com and so on) to the /etc/hosts file like the windows' windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts file. I used to use the wamp-server(on Windows 7), I needed to edit 3 files, httpd.conf, httpd-vhosts.conf and hosts. And almost every edit is made in the httpd-vhosts.conf file on wamp-serveriles should be edited? or what else should be done that I didn't mention?

I've had my share of troubles with Ubuntu before and always been able to find help just by reading the forums, but this time it doesn't seem to be happening. Basically, I think I did something stupid by trying to change the permissions on my home folder to 777. (I'm the only person who uses my computer and got sick of always having to get root permissions.) Halfway through the process, the computer slowed to a crawl and text in dialog boxes started getting replaced with empty squares.
Naturally I rebooted - or tried to. Regular boot didn't work, so I tried recovery mode, which was kind enough to tell me I had a kernel panic because sbin/init wasn't found. Here's where things got weird: I then tried to boot from my Ubuntu USB stick, and couldn't. I got to the USB menu, hit the "run" option, and after a few seconds of the Ubuntu boot screen, my monitor went blank. Actually, to be technical, it didn't just show a black screen - the screen shut off. That's as far as I've been able to get.
By the way, just before I tried what I'm now calling the chmod-of-death, I also had an update freeze in the middle. I am able to boot into Windows, and have checked my USB stick - all seems fine. Any thoughts on this? Worst case, I can reformat the partition and reinstall, but I'd rather not lose all that data.
UPDATE: Okay, so I *did* manage, after about ten more tries, to boot from the USB stick. I went in from there and changed all the permissions back to 755. Tried to boot in recovery again, and still getting the same sbin/init error - so I'm wondering now if it had more to do with the failed update than the permission change....
