Given that Nokia have bought Trolltech, albeit quite a while ago now, I still can't see any native QT version of Nokia's software suite for their phones. Are there any plans in the coming year for a Linux version of Nokia's PC Suite software?

I was looking for a way to get the same or similar functionality as the Nokia PC Suite on Ubuntu 10.04. I did find a discussion here [url].
However it is fairly old (2008). I was wondering if it is possible to get more recent information.
In the Ubuntu Software Center I find two applications that seem to fit the bill. I need to know which is better or are the complimentary.

I use Wammu to connect to my Nokia via bluetooth. I can retrieve all contacts, calls and SMSes from the mobile. I also can backup the retrieved contacts and SMSes via the "Backups" menu. I also want to backup calls but Wammu provides no menu for the purpose. Right clicking on the call list shows backup menu but only Wammu header info is filed.

I want to connect to my mobile phone (nokia 2760) with Wammu using bluetooth.
I can connect to it directly using the bluetooth applet but with wammu it doesn't detect it ? I know it's supported
edit : ok if I put the mac address of the phone instead of doing the search, it works

I'm using ubuntu 9.04; I have a large project in windows that I want to "port" it in linux.
It uses IPC mechanism "Shared memory" and also "Critical Section" APIs in windows, but unfortunately I have no good reference to change these windows APIs to their equivalent in linux?
Is there a comprehensive documentation or reference for this issues? I mean a table containing the equivalent APIs or systemcalls in windows and linux! For example, what's an alternative for the "InitializeCriticalSection" API in linux? Or an alternative for "CRITICAL_SECTION" structure? Or even an alternative for "RegOpenKeyEx", although we don't have registry in linux!!

I'm having troubles pairing Nokia headset BH-503 to my linux box. Here is what I tried:
1) Installed Blueman
2) searched new devices and found my Nokia BH-503
3) Set PIN code to custom and entered PIN 0000
4) Of course the headset is on pairing mode
However the pairing is always failing. In Blueman I get "Page Timeout", I also tried it with the other Bluetooth application which gives me the message "Setting up Nokia BH-503 failed"

I would like the ability to sync my phone with my Ubuntu machine in a similar manner to that of the Nokia PC Suite in Windows. Anyone have any suggestions WRT Linux applications (more specifically Ubuntu, but I am not really that picky) that mimic the functionality of Nokia PC Suite (even partially)? It doesn't need to be specific to Nokia either, any brand of phone is fine as I haven't made my mind up as to what brand I am interested in.

how I failed to install the Linux Turnkey WordPress appliance on a Nokia IP380 host, hoping that anybody could help me to get the job done. That appliance is running upon the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS system. This describes a linear process, but in order to get that far, I had to try a lot of things that didn't work and didn't mention; the discovery of this linear process is the result of many iterations. I failed near to the end, nut I hope that someone reading this can help me to get until the end. Please mail me at pf at openoffice dot org if you discover the ultimate trick. Used hardwareA Nokia IP 380 firewall running the native OS called IPSO A laptop running Ubuntu Karmic, having USB ports and a serial COM port An USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE converter, plugged into an USB port of my laptop A serial cable (null-modem) Followed procedure
I booted into IPSO and wrote down the MAC addresses of the eth[1-4] NICs:eth1: 00:a0:8e:78:c1:b4
eth2: 00:a0:8e:78:c1:b5
eth3: 00:a0:8e:78:c1:b6

I have been able to sync my Nokia C6-00 using multisync in Ubuntu Lucid 10.04. Thought of sharing it in Ubuntuforums. I have borrowed most instructions from one post for Nokia N95 but do not have the link right now.
1. Install blueman using sudo aptitutde install blueman This installs the bluetooth manager. It should be easy to configure bluetooth support for your phone with blueman menu.
2. To get your C6's MAC address, open a terminal and type:

I'm not that great with mailservers, and just been thrown a curveball with a MS Exchange environment for which there is apparently no solution... yeah, right. But is there a workaround?
The problem is that the site mail (SMTP) needs to be sent via port 26 instead of the commonly used 25. Port 25 is mapped to a mailfilter, which apparently causes havoc with some of the mail, and the techs that have been on site trying to coax the Exchange server to co-operate have said that the only way would be to get rid of the filter.
The problem is that there are number of apps that are unable to have the outgoing port changed and so keep sending mail out on port 25.
I look after the Unix/Linux side of things at work, and I was wondering if there was an easy way to set up a Ubuntu box to receive mail on port 25 and just forward it to the MS box on port 26? So, in other words (and I hope this makes sense): monitor port 25, and forward whatever comes in on port 25 to the server on port 26. Simple portforwarding, or is it? What steps do I need to take?

When I use the following command:
ssh user@ssh_server -L 5500:localhost:5500 -p 22
everything works fine. I can log in, and local port forwarding is done. Otherwise when I use the command:
ssh user@ssh_server -R 5500:localhost:5500 -p 22
I get an error "remote port forwarding failed for listen port 5500". However when I try remote port forwarding in WinXP by use of putty there is no problem...
