Ubuntu Servers :: How To Schedule Email

Jun 17, 2010

I have Postfix and Procmail installed on Hardy.

Are there any tips/tutorials for sending out scheduled email?

My main use case for this would be sending out a Tweet and an email at the same time.

Server :: Routing Inbound Email To Multiple Email Servers?

Dec 21, 2009

I have recently setup a new mail server and have simulated sending and receiving on the new email server. The new email server will replace the primary one.I would like to setup the new email server in parallel with the existing one.This way i can observe issues that might occur and be aware of what could go wrong. I want to received mail to be delivered to both mail servers at the same time.I would like to use postfix, exim i find a bit to difficult to understand.I have thought of using transport maps, the only problem is that you can only forward mail to one server at a time using transport maps.I think recipient_bcc_maps and sender_bcc_maps could work, i would just like ideas of how i can do this.

Ubuntu Servers :: Schedule A Task To Run On The 1st Saturday Of Every Month?

Aug 10, 2011

Is there a way to schedule a task to run on the 1st Saturday of every month? I'm not sure if what I have here will run. I am running Ubuntu 10.04 Server x64

What I have right now is:

# m h dom mon dow command
00 00 1 * Sat /storage/scripts/monthly-script.sh

This looks to me that it will only run at midnight if a Saturday is the first of the month. But if that's the case then that's not quite what I'm looking for...

General :: Create A Backup Schedule For Client Computers And Servers?

Sep 20, 2010

I did a search and came up with many different opinions and suggestions, and I could not find any similar threads for this (if there is I must apoligize in advance and did not look hard enough). I am trying to create a backup schedule for client computers and servers; and I would like your opinion on what I came up with. Here is network infrastrusture setup:

16 client computers
6 serevrs
- Primary and Secondary Web Server (RAID 1)
- Primary and Secondary Domain Controller (RAID 1)
- File/Print Server (RAID 5)
- Backup Server (RAID 1) with USB 2.0 1TB External Drive

Of course I will evetually upgrade to Tape Drives, but I am saving up for that. Anyways I want to backup ALL client computers, Primary Web and DC server, and File/Print Server. This will be done (of course) on the Backup Server) Here is the schedule:

Ubuntu Servers :: New Email Server Not Receiving / Get That?

I am setting up a new email server by following the Flurdy guide. I can send but I can't receive. I can telnet in with both the IP address & telnet mail.domain.com 25 I'm not using or loading shorewall because I will be relying on the firewall that is in the router. I have been following the test section of the flurdy tutorial. I am tailing the mail.log file and only see the status as being different from the example

"status=bounced (mail for domain.com loops back to myself)"

It seems like it is getting through to the server but then getting rejected.

Ubuntu Servers :: Sending Mail To External Email (Outside LAN)

Apr 14, 2010

I just setup a mail server on my web server and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to send emails to external (as in outside my LAN) emails or receive from external emails. I'm using Postfix with Dovecot and Squirrelmail. I get this delivery report in Squirrelmail when trying to send an email to my hotmail address.

Final-Recipient: rfc822; example@hotmail.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.0.0
Remote-MTA: dns; mx3.hotmail.com
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 DY-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. We generally do not accept email from dynamic IP's as they are not typically used to deliver unauthenticated SMTP e-mail to an Internet mail server. [URL] maintains lists of dynamic and residential IP addresses. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for help. Ubuntu Servers :: 10.04 LTS - PHP5 Email Contact Form

Nov 24, 2010

I am running Ubuntu 10.04LTS on a server. I am trying to make an e-mail contact form. When I hit submit, it says the message was sent. I check my e-mail and I don't see it. Does it not work with gmail? or do I need to use a system username@mydomain.net? This is the PHP mailer.

Code:
<?php
if(isset($_POST['submit'])) {
$to = "myemail@mydomain"; #This is set to my gmail.com e-mail.
$subject = "Unserv Form";
$name_field = $_POST['name'];

Message:
$message";

echo "Message was sent!";
mail($to, $subject, $body);
} else {
echo "Error, it did not work! Please mention this to admin@unserv.net!";

This is a snip of HTML from the contact site:
Code:

Ubuntu Servers :: [postfix] Sent Email Returns To Inbox?

Jan 27, 2011

I'm running ubuntu 10.04 as a server that hosts a website and our email. I set up the email (Postfix) to work with Dovecot to enable IMAP and POP support.The mails can be retrieved and sent through this server with no hassles. We just have an issue that all emails sent via a client to any other address (be it on the same domain or not) will return to the inbox of that client.So basically, I open MS Outlook. Click new message and send it off to my GMail address. After I send it, it pops into my inbox on Outlook (stating that it came from me). The intended recipient also gets the message.
