I have three computers on my lan. I have installed authorized_keys entries to enable no password between two of these machines, but the third will not go there. The sshd_config is identical for all machines.

I would want someone to be able to see the content of a directory, then open the relevant document, but just for viewing purpose. They cannot copy the file, either through copy + paste or File/Save As.
Is that possible under Ubuntu?
Running Ubuntu 10.04 I logged into (sudo?) (root?) using:

I have a question regarding Samba Permissions. As the subject described, is it possible to let users read the file but can not copy the file physically? It's fine if they open and copy paste the contents but no physical copy paste and also I need to log the activity of the users. If samba will not be able to comply my needs, could you suggest some programs to meet my requirements?

I've been using SVN for a little while and I'm not sure what I did but now every time I open a terminal, this error pops up:

I read my ~/.bashrc and saw nothing SVN related.
I can't copy & paste text from an Evolution email message without first pasting the text into an editor like gedit or a word processor and recopying it a second time... Then it works fine... I thought the problem may have been a Delphi forum specific problem, but it also does the same thing on this board...
I running 10.04 with the default Evolution mail program.
BTW on Delphi I can turn off the wysiwyg editor and paste as "source" and it works just fine without the paste and recopy step...
I use KeePass2 to access username/password information in a Dropbox file. This allows convenient access from multiple devices. I can't seem to copy a password to the clipboard on my Linux 2.6.27.41-170.2.117.fc10.x86_64 system, however, in order to supply the password to a prompt in an xterm(1). I've tried both Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V and highlighting and mouse button 2 clicking. The KeePass2 program on the Linux system is executed by Mono.
How can I copy the password to the xterm(1)?
[Aside: I think we need a "KeePass" tag.]

Running: 10.04 dual boot on a Dell Latitude D510 with 2gig RAM.
My father in law had a problem with his Ubuntu system. After quite some playing around, we discovered that an update had damaged or removed the graphics driver and the system was stuck in non graphics mode. This thread refers: [URL] Rather than spend much more time trying to figure out how to re-install a graphics driver without a graphical user interface, I decided to cut my losses and re-install Ubuntu. Before I did this though, I had some files to recover. So I burned a Live CD and booted from that.
But my problem is that I can't copy all the files from the home directory of the hard drive. I get a permissions error when I try to copy or view the files. I'm assuming that, as the system does not see I'm the original user, that it won't let me access the files. This must be a fairly common problem, does anyone know how I can recover all the files? I just want to use the live CD to provide a working OS to allow me to copy and paste the files onto an external HD. The Live CD is actually the Lubuntu variant, I wanted a real lightweight OS to use on a live CD. I assumed that wouldn't make a difference. Oh, and of course, if there is a real simple solution to my original problem of a broken graphics card driver, I'd be interested in that too.
i used to use acidrip and k9 copy but their not working anymore. is there another good dvdripper out there?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI run a sever 24/7/365 with Debian 5.0.4 (lenny) GNOME 2.22.3. It seems that the HDD is beginning to fail as it starting to clunk & you can hear it spinning up & down. I had lots of help in setting up the server, and i am not that good with linux...but i am learning all the time I have a spare HDD lying around, and i am wondering if its possible to use it to make a "exact working copy" of the HDD whats failing ? The spare HDD actually has XP on it, but i cannot see this preventing it from being used ?As my knowledge is still very little with Linux, and its important for me to replace the HDD, can anyone point me in the right direction to copying failing HDD ?? Also is it possible to then fit the new HDD into my server and it will work straight away ? This is to prevent any added downtime on my 24/7/365 server.

For example, say my "code" is actually config files for Apache, and I wan't apache running on machine B to update it's config files based on the files found in tag "release-1.0", how is this done?

I just noticed that highlighting text and middle button clicking no longer copies and pastes as it has it has been for years. I haven't upgraded anything or installed any new software so this is a bit confusing for me. How I may restore this function? View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two servers. One of them has a svn server running and another hosting projects.
I have a daily cronjob updating the projects -- ie running svn update, rebuild etc.
Now, my cronjob on the remote server works.
However, a similar cronjob running on the local server for local projects (ie the same server as svn) is instead displaying a "svn: not working copy".
I double checked the paths, permissions and user info and if the script is launched manually, it works fine.
Deploying the same thing remotely works.
I even tried using file:/// (suggested here http://www.hightekhosting.com.au/myaccount/knowledgebase/90/Using-SubversionorSVN-on-cPanel-Servers.html) but still nothing.
I've just started using ubuntu one. However, some of the files I store on there are sensitive so I encrypt them using seahorse. Right click, encrypt etc etc. My question is, is there a way to automatically get the encrypt process to delete the un-encrypted file when it makes the new encrypted copy?

Oddly enough, I discovered that I can only copy and paste by using the third mouse button. Pressing down on the scroll wheel after highlighting text copies the text, pressing it again pastes it Ican still use the Edit-copy and Edit-paste menu functions.
I'm sure it has something to do with all the tinkering I have been doing with my desktop. I have been experimenting with CompizConfig and Cairo dock, changing my themes and things of this nature.

I'm having trouble getting CSF working with Hamachi. I know Hamachi uses ham0 but has to use eth0 to establish a connection to the VPN servers. When I turn on CSF, hamachi seems to die but I opened the ports in CSF (443,12975,32976,17771)... I keep getting login fail when start Hamachi up. I'm guessing this has to deal with CSF/iptables but no clue on how to setup those rules to work with Hamachi.
