View 1 RepliesI have a problem with pointer icon. When I hover pointer on application (Mozilla, Dolphin, Skype, Kopete) pointer icon get corrupted.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had issues with changing the pointer when compiz was active in ubuntu 10.10. it would not change when on the desktop, only when hovering over a window.I solved this issue by doing the following:
Hit alt f2 and enter-> gconf-editor
Then goto-> /->apps->compiz->general->allscreens->options
Then in "cursor_themes" type in the name of the pointer theme(Eg. DMZ-White)
This should resolve the issue with compiz.I am not going to go over that here.Oh yea don't forget to logout/login or press ALT F2 and enter compiz - -replace to refresh the pointer...
I use Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
How can I change the Ubuntu icon to the default GNOME icon, on the main GNOME menu, using an official or 'clean' way of doing it
I just downloaded the Release candidate, for 10.04, and as I was testing it on VirtualBox, I notice that the LiveCD option, (or Test ), is missing? Should I re-download, or it's an error from VBox?
I don't have unlimited bandwith, I was lucky enough to download 2 ISO's yesterday, cause there was nobody where I live, so I could use the WiFi all I could. What do you think, bad ISO, or problem with VBox?
Kwallet is off. Then I install a wireless device under WPA. Wired icon starts to change to wireless icon, but does not and goes back to wired icon. Hovering pointer over wired icon shows wired device installed as well as wireless device. How do I keep the wireless icon in place after installing WPA to wireless device?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi've just installed a fresh copy of 10.04 on my laptop, and, with the default "ambiance" theme, i can't change the pointer to dmz-black: i click on it to select it, but it stays white, even after rebooting and stuff.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have d/l and am using an icon theme I got from gnome-look. I like all the icons except for a few, specifically the trash, and would like to change them but I can't figure out how. I d/l an empty and full trash icon. I looked in the /home/username/.icons/themename folder and found the two trash icons that came with the theme (they were in ~/.icons/themename/scalable/places). Changed the names of the ones I d/l and replaced those current ones with them.how to do this? I would also like to change the Menu Bar icon back to the gnome foot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Kubuntu on my machine, but on returning to gde I still have the oxy-white pointer from kde. I went to preferences>appearance>themes>customize>pointer, and changed it back to DMZ White, yet the pointer still looks like oxy-white. I tried it with all of the different pointer options, but none of them will override oxy-white.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change my mouse pointer icon. I have my computer looking like I want it to with the exception of the mouse pointer.
I found a guide here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=77694
I installed gcursor, however it will not let me change anything. The Install Theme and Go to Theme Folder buttons do nothing. Could this be some sort of a conflict with Compiz?
P.S. I am running Lucid.
Where on earth does one go to change the "mouse pointer"? Every time I log into Ubuntu, I get an "X" pointer and have to change it to an "arrow" pointer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Ubuntu 9.10 for about three months now (I am a total greenhorn) . A few hours ago, I decided to add the KDE 4.4 desktop environment. I followed the procedure on this link. It was all in GUI, no terminal commands required. [URL]
Installed KDE and everything is fine except two problems.
1. The KDE mouse pointer has become default in GNOME and I just can't change it. Tried everything, changing theme, customising theme and even downloaded the "mouse pointer" app from Software Centre. Nothing works.
2. I am not able to upgrade anything using Kpackagekit. It keeps telling me I don't have authorisation, without asking for my password.
I was messing with appearances and inadvertently changed my mouse pointer. Currently it's big and red, I can't figure out how or where I need to be to change the mouse pointer back to normal.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed Suse 11.2 recently, and i have my laptop hooked up to a HD monitor.
When i choose the HD monitor, if the resolution is low, lets say 1280x800, same as my laptop, its fine. I see the mouse pointer.
But as soon as i change the resolution to 1920x1080, the pointer disappears. Mouse functionality works allright. Right click/left click works fine, and i can see the buttons getting highlighted on mouse-ever.
But the pointer is gone.
A friend working in HPC environments commented me that he had an issue regarding the use of the malloc() function. What issue? He told me that he has had cases in where malloc() instead of returning a NULL pointer on failure, simply didn't change the original value of the pointer it was trying to use for allocation, thus forcing him to initialize pointers to be allocated with malloc() to NULL, so that he could be sure that if malloc() fails, a test for NULL would make sense.
View 12 Replies View RelatedFresh install of 32-bit 11.3 on my father's computer. He needs me to enlarge the mouse pointer and/or make it a different color. I changed it in the settings/themes thing like you are supposed to, but it appears to only take effect in Mozilla.needs the larger mouse pointer for the entire system. Evolution appears to completely ignore the mouse theme settings.

Its more of an annoyance than anything because the connection works just fine, browsing the internet, downloading from repos, etc. I can't seem to figure out how to fix it and its driving me batty.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use the Elementary GTK theme, and I'd like to replace the "E" at the upper-left hand with my custom Ubuntu logo. However, when I extract the icon to the proper directory, and replace all files, nothing happens. I delete the cache, kill and restore the panel via Terminal, and rebuild the cache, to no avail.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently installed the Neu-0.6-PR3 icon theme (Which i love!). I have installed icon themes in the past, but have never really wanted to change individual icons within the packs until now. I like every icon in the pack so far, except the Firefox one. I found this old article explaining how to change the firefox icon, but i guess the directories have changed over time because i'm missing some[URL] still have the original icon in this folder, /usr/share/pixmaps/firefox.png
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i was using the mac4lin the nautilus icon was fine, but when i decided to use the normal ubuntu theme it was a really ugly shell thing.
So now i have 2 questions:
1- How do i change the icon.
2- Do you have any good ideas for a icon.
I know this has been posted before, but non of the former posts helped me. What I would like to figure out is how to change the small Ubuntu logo next to the Applications, Places, System widget on the panel. I'm not sure if this is part of a theme or if it's a system file. Either way; I would love some help on this, as this will bring me one step closer to: world domination / creating a theme, how different are they really?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there some way that I can change the icon for a shortcut on the panel at the top of my desktop? I'm running Photoshop CS4 in Wine but I couldn't install it so I just copied the program files folder from my Windows 7 installation. Then, I just just drag-and-dropped Photoshop.exe on the panel, creating a shortcut to it. However, this will just show a generic icon for an executable file.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi know this is incredibly trivial, but hopefully it will have a simple answer so i don't waste too much of someone's time. i'm currently using the gnome icons theme and have been randomly editing icons to suit my desired look. everything has gone quite swimmingly with altering the icons used for shortcuts using the custom launcher or program launcher, but when it comes to the lock screen action i cannot find a way to change the icon. i have already logged in as root to simply replace all the gnome-lockscreen icon pictures with my desired picture to no effect. does anyone know how i can solve this problem?
