Something has gone wrong Sorry about that. This problem has been reported to Ubuntu One engineers and we'll fix it as quickly as possible. This may be a temporary problem, so try again in a few minutes.
It's been like this ever since I first tried to use it (about a year or so now). I'm not sure how to help to get it fixed.
I have been syncing files to ubuntu one without any problems for some time. I can't get my evolution contacts to sync. When I try to copy my addressbook to ubuntu one I get message "error adding contact". I can't get rid of this message - only way is to force quit. I'm running Maverick, and I did a clean re-install to try to get rid of problem - didn't work. Currently when I open the ubuntu one addressbook, there are three blank entries which can't be deleted or edited.
It seems that Empathy does not display all my online msn contacts. When I check the number of online contacts against Msn Live messenger, the msn live messenger has more
I've a chat tab at the left most side of my g-mail.I've the list of ids.I want to remove some of my contacts from there. How can I do that? how do that chat tab come from.I forget, can you tell me what are the settings for that chat tab?
I, as many here, have friends on different IM accounts (and btw, so great that we have pidgin and empathy and not have to deal with 3 different softwares to talk to them) and of all that I have... which are not so many... one of them sends me spam, not all the time, but it happens and I kind of feel sorry for her so I'd like to see if there's a way for her to retake control of her account or if she can't do anything at all with it.
I have other friends in MSN but I get spam only from her and she's given up on how to fix it cause she doesnt know how to. I did a search (and keep looking for more in the web) and so far it doenst look promising (but is also because I dont know what else to do). The problem is I get messages which I know for sure are spam, cause her english is more limited and the messages are very polished in that regard.
I got this from another discussion elsewhere: "troutbot = These bots get your IM from scraping the Internet screenname and connect you randomly to someone else. While you're talking to the troutbot, they're just an intermediary connecting you to some other guy who also had his IM scraped." So far the times I get spam... the other side never answers, but if my friend is online she can. I thought that on these IM services... if you are logged in nobody else can log in with your username/password...
I am trying to figure out how I can export my evolution contacts information into a Thunderbird application on my desktop (at work). I back up the files onto a flashdrive into the evolution-backup.tar file which Evolution uses as the default backup file. But Thunderbird doesn't recognize the file type.
Sometimes when using Emesene, a contact who I am talking to will appear offline randomly. I normally assume they have gone offline, but then I will receive another message from them as normal so they obviously are not. Then I can't tell when they actually sign off.
I thought it might be because people are setting their status to appear offline. Which on Windows messenger, if you are talking to that person, they will appear as online only to you.
So either Emesene doesn't do this, or there is some other error that is just making people appear offline randomly.
The title says it all really. I run Empathy, have used it for a while with both Google-chat and MSN protocols. I've been using it for a few months now and suddenly my MSN contacts have all disappeared.
People are able to contact me via MSN, and when their message window pops up I am able to respond. It says they are offline however.
I have tried listing all offline contacts but they still do not appear in the list.
I have tried uninstalling (including config files) and reinstalling but this wasn't successful either. When I reinstalled it still had details of my accounts so clearly the cofig files were not removed properly.
I had used gnome do previously and had it linked to my gmail contacts. It had no problem opening in Thunderbird and then typing and sending the mail. It seems the mail-to link is broken down now. I open it and it pops open a mail dialog in Thunderbird. Then the issue is the name I have selected isn't opened. The mail to is always blank in the to box.
is it possible to sync thunderbird contacts and calendars (lightning) through Ubuntu One, for sharing from different machines? Or, are there any plans in the future to implement such thing? I know I could probably go through google calendar, but I don't want to do so.
I have had nothing but trouble, and - judging from the extent of your forums - it looks like I'm not the only one.If this system is so great, why do so many people have so much trouble?
1). How do I import my Contacts, especially if Ubuntu's email program says it can't find my old Outlook? 2) How do I import my bookmarks, again, if Ubuntu's version of Firefox says it can't find any other browser? 3) If I go ahead and install this thing, and then decide it is too much hassle, how hard is it going to be to uninstall it?
I don't mean to be contentious here, but I really don't want to get into something that is only going to substitute one frustration for another, either.
I'm running Evolution 2.28.3 on the latest Lucid. I tried importing an Outlook pst file. Evolution obviously leads one to believe it CAN do this, otherwise why would it allow one to choose a pst file, then recognize it as an Outlook file, and give one the option of choosing which portions to import (i.e. mail, contacts, calendar, etc)?
So the first time I chose mail, contacts, calendar, and tasks. It seems to have imported mail and calendar correctly, but NOTHING happened in tasks and contacts (contacts being very important). So I tried again, this time ONLY choosing to import contacts. It went through the whole pst file again. NO contacts still. While it seems not to have duplicated email messages the second go around (and it shouldn't have), it DID duplicate all calendar items (even though I ONLY checked "contacts"). UGH!
It's one thing for it not to have a capability, but to make a person believe it CAN import all those things, then screw it all up, ... well, that's highly irritating.
I'm very new to Ubuntu. Short of using it as a boot system to recover Windows installations I spent the time to fully integrate. After a recent Windows 7 (shell32.dll error) I decided to back up all my information and move over to Ubuntu 10.10 with a Windows 7 Dual-Boot and after some setup I'm really loving it!
Since I'm a web developer that works with Linux/php on a regular basis I figured setting up Ubuntu with a /var/www partition for server testing would be ideal. ^_^
I used the search on this forum a lot and I see how friendly and helpful the Ubuntu community is, making newcomers integrate very well. So thank you very much for all your helpful answers!
Now the issue (a simple one): I'm trying to figure out how to display my contacts in Empathy in the upper right taskbar when I click my empathy logo. It says "Available, Away, Busy, etc" but I would like to display available contacts when I click there... is there any way to do this?
I have been able to sync my Nokia C6-00 using multisync in Ubuntu Lucid 10.04. Thought of sharing it in Ubuntuforums. I have borrowed most instructions from one post for Nokia N95 but do not have the link right now.
1. Install blueman using sudo aptitutde install blueman This installs the bluetooth manager. It should be easy to configure bluetooth support for your phone with blueman menu.
2. To get your C6's MAC address, open a terminal and type:
I have installed the Maveric 10.10 version on an HP Pavilion dv7-1262us laptop and am using Evolution 2.30.3 for email. When I click on the contacts button in Evolution, and then click on a particular contact (in the personal contact list), I can't seem to modify the name or email; I can click in the boxes and cursor about, but no editing; the entire panel seems to be greyed out. I have searched a bit, but have not seen this particular problem addressed.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Evolution 2.28.3. I have Evolution configured to use my gmail contacts. When composing a message, entering addresses does not automatically resolve in any way. In order to use an address from my contacts, I need to click on the To: button and select contacts from the list. The list itself is fine - all my contacts are present. Is there any way to have Evolution automatically resolve email addresses as I type?
when ever I use the terminal to install a program (for example Ubuntu-tweak) I end up with this line E: Unable to locate package (then the program name),this has also happened when I've updated through the terminal. (I've since installed Ubuntu-tweak via the link on its site).Let me say this my little box has a banging Internet connection. And I have a full almost brand new installation maverick meerkat.
I just reinstalled openSUSE 11.2 for the first time. I took a backup of my /home first of course and then copied over to my new install whatever I wanted, like mails from Kmail and some other stuff. The only thing I'm missing and can't seem to find is my contacts from Kontact? Are they included in any of the other apps? 'cause I can't seem to find anything even related to Contacts in /home/.kde4/share/apps where all the other stuff from Kontacs where.
I just love the synch of Evolution contacts to Ubuntu One via Couch DB. However: When I copy contacts from Evolution Personal contacts to Couch DB, I lose all of the first names of my contacts. Example: [Full Name]Peter Smith becomes [Full Name] Smith.
After moving from 9.04 to 10.04, the single most annoying issue for me is Empathy. Yes, it doesn't pop up a new window when a new message arrives. Yes I missed few messages because of that (no, turning the small "mail" icon to green doesn't get my attention as much as a new window). But, I can live with this.
The real issue for me is it shows Offline contacts as Online. Let's start Empathy and let's say you have 10 contacts as Online. If one of them goes Offline, Empathy still shows the contact as online. You will only find this out when you try to send a message.
I have a strange problem when using Emesene: whenever I log in, either all or most of my contacts appear offline. This is not true, however, as I am able to talk to them even though they are offline and also, those contacs do appear online in Pidgin.
I ran Emesene 1.6.1 at first and thought that upgrading to 1.6.3 would resolve the issue, but unfortunately that is not the case.
