I have setup a CentOS 5.5 server as a DHCP server. That will be it's only task in a Cisco callmanger VoIP environment The DHCP server that comes with CentOS 5.5 is from ISC V3.0.5 -redhat.

But when I start the DHCPD on the comamnd prompt in debug mode it looks as follows:

and /var/log/messages shows:
Code:
Why does the system ask a declaration for eth0 0.0.0.0?
Recently I've updated from 13 to 14. However, after updated I've tried to work with my terminal and it seems doesn't works fine. I can read 'starting terminal' but after that it's closed.I've uninstalled and re-installed it through the graphical tools (gnome-terminal) but that doesn't works fine.
I have been dredging the internet trying to find the answer to this and frankly, my brain hurts. On some e-mails that show up fine in Windows are showing up with hexadecimal characters in Evolution. I assume that it is because of the encoding because I have downloaded every font in the book, it seems, including the microsoft tty fonts. I only can find how to change the encoding on Evolution and aside from foreign (I'm in US) encodings I just have the unicode 7 & 8 which don't help. I'm thinking there is some sort of proprietary Microsoft encoding that I need.
I want to monitor my work on the terminal.I know we can use script command. But every time when I start the terminal, I have to type script to start it.I want to automate it. So where should I include this command so that it will start as soon as I start the terminal ?
MY WORK TILL NOW: I have put this "script" command in the .profile.The when I start the terminal, it became an INFINITE LOOP.I am able to "echo".Thats coming only once.....but if I write a "script" command then it is becoming an INFINITE LOOP.
I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 fresh and was putting my preferences back in for Firefox and MythTV and such when I noticed Evolution wouldn't start. I would click on it and the cursor would change for about 5 seconds and then nothing. I tried uninstalling Evolution (big mistake), but after I got back into the desktop, Evolution still wouldn't start. I can't seem to find anything around here that deals with this. Where should I start to debug this?
I built my wife a new computer about a month ago, from a barebones kit. It seems to be working fine, except that it will not connect to a known-good internet connection. I can put the cable that is connected to her ethernet port on my computer (also built from a barebones kit) and my computer connects automatically. The network is a cable modem followed by a six port router. Two of the ports, plus the one my wife's computer is on, are in use, but all have been checked, and all work.I thought there might be a hardware problem with the onboard etherneet port that is part of the motherboard, but adding a separate ethernet NIC card did not help; it simply gave me another port that would not connect. I have since removed the second ethernet port.
I am using the default Fedora 10 installation from a DVD I got a few months ago with a magazine. It is exactly the same installation I put on my computer, which works fine. I also put Fedora 10, since upgraded to 11, on the machine in the basement, which also connected okay. The GUI used is Gnome. So the question is, how do I go about debugging what might be wrong? Once I find what's wrong, I will almost certainly need help fixing it, but that is for later.
I have a Toshiba laptop with dual boot W7 & Ubuntu 11.4. Evolution Mail Program was installed and running perfect. My mistake was to try to import my e-mail contacts address book backup for evolution, ever since I cannot start it as it shows a notification that it is still migrating my files. I have uninstall and install the same program but unfortunately the issue remains and I can no more start my evolution email application.
When I start up Evolution Mail client by any means (toolbar, applet or command-line) it starts up, but then the window turns grey immediately and freezes. I am forced to close it with the "killall" command.
I love the small mailbox in my toolbar (GNOME) and I don't want to lose it. I am concerned that removing Evolution by the Ubuntu Software Center will eliminate this wonderful tool. Otherwise I would re-install it.
I have made no changes to the mail client in months. My wife who uses Thunderbird on Windows 7 is still operating normally, so I do not believe anything changed on the mail server.
I am not able to get evolution to start up. I have tried removing the .evolution and .gconf/apps/evolution and, uninstalling and re-installing evolution and the most i could get is the initial config screen to setup the mail account. After i do all of that, the window disappears and does not come back. Does anyone know how to start up evolution?
I set up a new machine w/ f15 this past weekend. Everything seems to work fine except Evolution. The first time I ran Evolution I restored my Evolution v2.3 (mbox) files that I had backed up from F13. I did this from the setup wizard so I actually never "opened" Evolution. The conversion to maildir appeared to go OK, and I can see the files in /home/oldan/.local/share/evolution/mail/local/cur. Each file (there are 17,000+) can be opened, so the data conversion is intact.
However, I am unable to open the application at all. In the GUI (KDE) I get a spinning icon that goes away in about 30 sec. From a command prompt as a regular user I get:[oldan@Fedora15-001 Documents]$ evolution (evolution:4822): Unique-GDBus-WARNING **: Error while sending message: Timeout was reached
As root I get[root@Fedora15-001 Documents]# evolution No protocol specified Cannot open display: Any one have a clue as to what might be happening?
Just did a fresh install of 10.04, everything working great, and I was pretty excited about the integration with gwibber, evolution, and empathy. I was fiddling around, getting things the way I wanted them (startup programs and such), and upon a test restart, noticed that unlike the first couple of times I had restarted with 10.04, the Evolution icon no longer came up in the tray, and my "Me" menu was useless - didn't have me signed in to Gwibber or Empathy, didn't give the option to do so.
Yes, I can still run these programs no problem, and I could probably get it such that they ran at the start... but what I would like is for them to run minimized, in the tray, like they did the first time I booted up 10.04. Again, I trust this is a mere couple of lines in the command prompt, I just don't know what they are.
I cannot get the monthly view to start the week on Sunday. The settings seem right but they don't stick. Restarting Evolution always defaults to a week start on Monday even though the defaults display Sunday. I've viewed the default settings the following two ways:
Within Evolution... Edit > Preferences > Calendar and Tasks > week starts on "Sunday"
Don't know what is going on here, but Evolution won't start. I've tried reinstalling. When I click the icon to open it, the little loading cursor displays for a few seconds then it disappears and nothing else happens.
I have had some problems with Evolution. It sometimes freezes on start-up: I have to force it to quit. If I open "System Monitor", and end the evolution-alarm-notify task, then I can restart evolution successfully. I therefore suspect it is that which is causing trouble. What is it and how do I stop it?
How can I edit the system proxy setting using the terminal? Which file contains this settings? I want to edit this automatically using cronjobs, cause from 8-5 I need to use a proxy, but at home I don't need the proxy. How do I fix this?
I want to add an item to my start up... I went to start up and hit add. I want my conky to start up... I need a terminal and the code conky that should start it how do you get a terminal command in start up.?
I've copied a little shell script from the net and when I run it in xfce4-terminal it just works
Code:
sudo ./script.sh
The problem is that this script needs interaction with the user (entering a password) and I want to run it at the startup. I've put it in the /etc/init.d folder, configured the options but I need to know how you can get a terminal to appear at the start up to ask you for the password.
Code:
#!/bin/bash echo "1. Enter your password oldConfig=`stty -g`
I have a binary application that runs only in shell, now I want to open it from another application(Mathematica program) but simply invoking it will start it in memory but not in a shell.
I tryed "bash app" which does not work and "gnome-terminal app" just opens the terminal without launching that application.
Ps: Its the same thing as in Java when you want to invoke a system command like ping but you need to do it like this .exec("cmd ping") instead of just ping.
This is a weird problems.Everytime i log on to my computer/restart my computer, the terminal always autostart.I already checked at startup application. No terminal there.Any suggestion to stop the terminal from autostart with startup?
sudden unable to start a terminal or logging in to my computer using ssh.Pressing Alt+f2 and typing xterm does not work. Also pressing ctrl+alt+f1 and trying to log in I get logged out immediately. Still gnome seems to be working fine. I have another user on my computer and that one is able to log in to my computerusing ssh, which I think is strange. btw. Did not see anything in the log files (maybe not looking in the right places?
This worked, but now I want to remove some start up programs using the command line. Can someone point me in the right direction to what I need to do for this?
I'm assuming that default start up programs are not links in the ~/.kde/Autostart folder because when I run:
Code: ls -a ~/.kde/Autostart I only find the files that I have set to start up.
What command can I use to start a program in the terminal? What command is appropriate for applying patches to that or other programs? What command is appropriate to applying a 3.5 version patch to the 3.0 version of firefox. What are some useful commands for the terminal?
to the bottom of my .profile expecting a cow to tell me a fun quote whenever i pull up a terminal. It hasn't done anything, however. How do I achieve my desired effect?
How would one go about making an application start up on boot with terminal? I have a VPS that is ubuntu 8.04, and have command line access. I already compiled the application.
I am setting up a streaming audio server. I would like to have Darkice and sc_serv (Shoutcast server) start automagically on boot.
I have set Xubuntu (10.04) to auto login
Both Darkice and sc_serv are command line apps and I would like them to each run in their own terminal window so I can monitor any status messages they produce. For instance sc_serv displays connections disconnections with time connected, and current number of listeners, and I want to see that.
One important note: sc_serv must be up and running before Darkice can be started.
