Fedora :: Cannot Test Proxies, Or Remote File Availability Without Both HTTP::Request:ommon And LWP::UserAgent
Mar 30, 2010I am trying to istall litb for P2020DS. I got an error the following error:

Don't have HTTP::Request:ommon
Don't have LWP::UserAgent
Cannot test proxies, or remote file availability without both
HTTP::Request:ommon and LWP::UserAgent
add folowwing line to User Privilage section:
hwtesting ALL = NOPASSWD: /bin/rpm, /opt/freescale/ltib/usr/bin/rpmvisudo
I edit the sudoers by visudo command and insert this line just under the following line:
root ALL = (ALL) All
But still I am getting the following:
Don't have HTTP::Request:ommon
Don't have LWP::UserAgent
Cannot test proxies, or remote file availability without both
HTTP::Request:ommon and LWP::UserAgent

Jul 2, 2011Recently My ISP provider blocked any kind of http proxies can be used in browsers. When I put my proxy settings in my browser, it keeps loading with no response. I've squid proxy running on my own server and worked fine before that modification.

Mar 15, 2011I am using NetworkManager Applet in Gnome to connect to the internet with a 3G modem. After last update few days back it changed the way it was recognizing the modem. I used to click on the NetworkManager Applet icon on the notification area and choose my configured mobile connection from the list. Because, as I said, I am using mobile broadband connection and I have to check via SMS my usage in order not to overcome the GB I am supposed to use (to avoid overpriced charge). In order to use Wammu to send/receive SMS I have to close the internet connection by right clicking on the NetworkManager Applet and uncheck "Enable Mobile Broadband" otherwise Wammu can't use the usb dongle because it's locked by the internet connection. Up to this point all is working exactly the same. Except when I uncheck the "Enable Mobile Broadband" the NetworkManager Applet disappears and I can only get it back with a reboot. Also I tried clicking on the applet and choosing "Disconnect" from the menu. The applet stays there but there are no more options for mobile connection. Only wired connections and VPN (whatever that is). In this case if I disconnect and reconnect the usb dongle it recognise it again. So my question is: Is there a way to make NetworkManager Applet to always stay aware of the usb modem without disconnecting or rebooting? Or at least is there a command that can search for new usb hardware without the described procedure?

I would like non-SSL requests to the proxy to be rewritten into HTTPS requests to the back-end server, while not screwing up URLs with missing or misplaced trailing URL slashes. So far, on the proxy side, I have this in a virtual host for port 80:

You can try to start the mysqld daemon with:

and use the command line tool /home/mosty/mysql/bin/mysql to connect to the mysql database and look at the grant tables:

Apr 5, 2011i guess this is an installation issue as i am newish to Linux and got a F14 laptop from a used/refurb store... Anyway it seem i have difficulty with getting GTK running or maybe it is WGET...?
i did manage to install apt-get and was able to run synaptics ... but now whenever i try to run synaptics it flashes the interface and crashes. i tried apt-get search wget and it says invalid operation search. i tried apt cache wget and get a crash box in the upper right corner... i tried apt-get gtk+extra-2.1.2-4.fc14 and it says invalid operation gtk...
All of which is frustrating my attempts to get the GTK interface to J working. Their script uses WGET which i also cannot get.

Nov 19, 2010I have a 10.04 install with 2 network cards. wlan0, and eth0. wlan0 is the internet connection. eth0 is the local network. I want to be able to have internet connection sharing between eth0 and wlan0. I have set everything up, using firestarter.
is there a way of testing the eth0->wlan0 routing from the machine itself? The routing table looks sound, but I would like a quick way of confirming it. Is there a tool, like PING or TRACEROUTE which will let me say "ping [URL] going through eth0" ?

May 30, 2011I have pc with two NIC's (eht0 and eth1). I want to test throughput switch/router.I can ping on both interfaces.Connection Diagram:
eth0 -> Patchcord -> testing devices -> Patchcord -> eth1
I run two iperf:
-s -B 192.168.1.10 (eth0)
-c 192.168.1.20 -B 192.168.1.20 (eth1)
Results:
[ 3] 0.0-10.0 sec 4.45 GBytes 3.82 Gbits/sec
The test results are false because I use 100Mb/s NIC's. I can't use two pc's for test.I tried to do the same test under windows 7 x64 it and works properly, but under windows xp there occurs the same problem like under ubuntu.

Oct 18, 2010I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 on an old box to use as an office print/fax and file server. I tried the server edition but I had no chance with command line programming so I've just used normal Ubuntu.
Ubuntu itself is working fine and I've installed my HP Officejet printer and it's fully working on the Ubuntu box. SAMBA and CUPS are installed.
I've then added the printer onto my Vista machine and here's where the fun starts. The Vista box sees the printer on Ubuntu, adds it with no problem and happily prints test pages, but I can't get it printing anything else.
I can't for the life of me find any reason why it would print a test page, but not print from Word, adobe or even a browser.

I have a 1701HG 2Wire wireless router that I use for my home network. I have an old pentium 3 tower that is just laying around, and I want to be able to host my projects on it for testing. Basically, I just want to be able to do everything on my laptop and then upload it to the server for testing.
I have set up an Ubuntu LAMP server on the desktop and am able to do everything I want via SFTP; however, I want to be able to type in "projectx.local" in a browser on my laptop to go to one test site, "projectz.local" to go to another, etc.
Is this possible, since I do not have the server set up as my gateway? It is merely connected to the router like everything else.

Dec 15, 2010Set up a server with Bind, Dovecote, Apache etc. Registered a domain and made all the necessary things for it to work. The server can send/receive mail on my domain, but when I try to look up the site I have it returns a lookup failure. I know Apache is working as I can browse the site when I used my ip address but I can't when I use the domain name. Anyone got a few tricks I could try to dumb down and find the possible failures I did when setting this up?

I want to do this so that when my automatic backups run they actually go to the remote location or fail. Currently, if there is a network problem that prevents the network share from mounting, the files simply get copied to the folder (e.g. /media/backupmount) and end up filling up my small local hard drive.

May 20, 2011Been helping a user who recently upgraded to 11.04 as his networking stopped after the upgrade. One thing I noticed was that he could not get ping to work.Then checked my 11.04 machine and it also fails to ping using Network Tools. I know the network is OK as I am using my Ubuntu machine to write this. Ping from the command line is fine so it is only the Network Tools ping test that appears to be broken.
Asked another Ubuntu 11 user to check his machine and he also cannot get ping to work even though his machine appears to be fine. Again this is only using the GUI tool.I know it is not hardware as I can dual boot and in XP everything is fine and I can ping all my systems. Also I am sharing a folder from my Ubuntu and my Mac shares the folder just fine. The Mac can also ping everything except the Ubuntu box. Command line ping works so it is not a basic network problem.So as far as I can tell the Network Tools ping test is not working. Has anyone else seen this or can confirm that it is broke. How do I report this or get it fixed?

Web filtering and AV scanning works great but we need to go a step further and introduce port filtering into the setup. I can easily accomplish this with iptable entries but only if I point to the proxy directly; the goal is to do this completely by interception. So far I've had no luck doing this with iptable entries or with squid ACL's and I am wondering if there's something that I am missing or just not doing correctly. So far during testing I've just been testing with common IM chat ports such as MSN and Yahoo. I am currently trying to setup a test lab with squid and 2 NICs with one NIC connected directly to the internet but this is not a route I would like to go.
