It is working well and all, but I am curious as to how to make it send out email alerts to my team when a commit occurs.Also, are their any good GUI tools to manage a subversion server in Ubuntu. The command line is fine since I made some scripts but a nice GUI would be great! Maybe that could be a fun project to work on.

I been trying to get smtp running with my isp stmp server but I been having problems with it. getting this running with a stmp server. and if a good stmp server for sending mail let me know what it is. I have heard of postfix and I like to know if I should use it instead of smtp.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently been asked by my boss to implement Email alerts on some Backup scripts to be sent to me and another person. I edited one of the Backup scripts on a mail server and they appear to be working without problems (i.e., the backup job runs successfully and I get told so via E-Mail). However, when I implemented this script onto another, non-mail server, it would not send E-Mail confirmations. The only server that is allowed to send Emails to the outside world is the mail server, so I did not expect the script to work without any fine-tuning.
However, I thought I could direct the non-mail server to send an E-Mail through the mail server. I just can't find out how to do it. The servers are running Ubuntu 9.04 64bit. The mail server is using postfix and dovecot for email, and is also the DNS server for that particular network section. The non-mail server should be installed with the default server install (exim4). If possible, I do not want to install any new programs on either server. How to get the non-mail server to use the mail server to send out E-Mails?
I'm trying to set up a tool that emails me periodically (in my case, psad). It allows by default to define just a destination email for reports. Is there a general way to get this or similar tools to use a non-default SMTP server, with TLS? (e.g. gmail's SMTP)

But before I can do that, I need to find a way to use something like nail, mailx, or if absolutely necessary evolution, to import emails from gmail and pipe them into this java program. So fast forward to today where I got my 1st Android powered mobile phone and I can configure the Android mail client to send/receive IMAP email but my question is do I need to become an open relay to allow my random wireless providers dynamic range of IP's to send mail via Postfix? Seems extremely vulnerable and scary to think I would have to allow my providers IP range to relay mail via my MTA. I started reading a bit and I think I need SASL authentication and since both Postfix 2.8.1 & Dovecot 2.0.11 are both configured / using TLS, is there anything else I would need or you recommend for sending email from my Android powered mobile?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just want to tell everyone how good the Garmin/Asus A10 mobile phone is as an internet modem.I am in Australia and Mobile internet is an expensive thing to have. cheapest is dodo but i had a few problems trying out a friends usb modem.Anyway i was in the market for a Gps phone and discover this one. it is Android phone and pretty cheap so far it is very good gps, camera, mp3, and phone is excellent.BUT here is the clincher. when you plug it into the computer, the phone screen lights up and gives you 3 options.

The ip in postfix is allowed to relay but I suspect that the mobile provider is using DHCP to issue address to the phone (though I have check the ip addresses are always allocated the same) I have checked via a fixed ip that is allowed in the relay and this does not generate the same error. Does anyone know what I can change in Amavis or Postfix to sort this out, because legal mail is being rejected via the mobile phones at the moment.

I'd like to plug my PC directly into my ISP line, but the network manager won't find the connection, and I don't know how to tell my PC my ISP's address and the name and password to logon with. I set up my router, and I know how to make the connection in XP, but I don't know how to in Linux. I have very limited Terminal experience.

- SSH server on Maverick
- Connecting from Windows XP via putty
- XP Firefox using SOCKS proxy over SSH tunnel
What I would like to do is use XP Firefox to download large files from various file-hosters (Rapidshare, Hotfile...), but download them straight to Maverick instead of forwarding the download to XP. Right now, my only option is to remote desktop into Maverick and download it using Ubuntu's Firefox. And simply using wget did not prove to be simple.
I have a network printer directly connected via ethernet cable to an Ubuntu netbook, but pinging the printer fails, giving "Host Unreachable". The network light on the ethernet socket is lit green, and there is nothing else cable-connected to the network - just a simple cable connection between the netbook ethernet socket and the Network printer (a HP Laserjet 4200n). Ping works fine if I plug the cable into a different machine (a Win XP box) and ping from there, so it's not a cable or IP address problem.
This sounds simple enough and should work, but I'm stumped. Clues, anyone?

Access is difficult, closed doors, remote location, etc. Therefore my idea was, to install, configure, etc. everything in my office. Since the server will have to work in the DMZ, I can't do much in my office; I have no DMZ-address here. Therefore I was thinking of 'forwarding' the future IP-address in the DMZ, let's say 10.10.10.1/24, from a stub machine placed in the server room into my office. I wonder how to do this most favourable.
So I think port-forwarding around 10 ports with ten ssh sessions would be neither clever, nor elegant. I wonder if it is possible to directly forward everything coming into an IP address directly instead? Or should I try VPN?
Is there a way to restart the Network Manager (nm-applet) directly in one command instead of this two commands?

I am starting to hate using NetworkManager instead of the good old "network" option. This is my problem. I have a modem I got from my ISP. My F10 server is hooked up directly to this router, and gets a static IP address of: 22.34.45.33 (Hypothetical ip). I then have a wireless router on my network, that connects directly to my isp's modem, and gets a static IP address aswell. Attached to the wireless router are all of the desktops in my house.
I have more than one network card in my server, so I want to plug my server into my router so I can share files. Whenever I do this, I get DNS issues. My postfix cannot receive email, but it can send it. Once the local interface is disconnected, I regain the ability to recieve email from postfix. I am so confused. This is my first encounter using NetworkManager. I just switched from CentOS.

I would also appreciate it if someone can let me know where I can find examples of such applications, as many examples of mmap I've found involves mapping a buffer for file operations, rather than integrating it with pcap functions like pcap_loop, pcap_next_ex etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying out the fedora live cd but I couldn't get my Internet to work. When I open firefox it always said server not kind no matter what I searched or put into the address bar:
I tried many different things but none o them worked
I am able to ping m router an I'm able to login to my routers page
I am also able to login to my modems page and it says connected to the Internet
I tried restarting the modem and the router but I still got the same problem
I also tried disabling the firewall but still had the same problem
I tried a command and I was able to receive packets from google.com, but It never went through in firefox
I also tried out a torrent (I had it saved on a USB) and it worked it was downloading fine
I am able to ping googles web page but I am not able to search anything.
In firefox preferences and in network proxy I tried many different proxy settings bit none o them worked I always get the message server not found. All this was done while connected directly with Ethernet cable modem and router but untried wireless and it didn't work either on the top right corner of the screen the network icon says auto eth0 active. I'm using fedora 12 livecd.
I recently installed F13 on my Toshiba Satellite C650. It has a buggy ACPI which no linux distro till date supports. I got that covered though. But my problem is that the ethernet port works only if the kernel is >=2.34. But F13 came with 2.33.
I do not have an access to a wireless network. Please tell me how to update the kernel without connecting to internet directly. I am new to Fedora. I have been using Ubuntu for some time and this can be achived in ubuntu by downloading the DEB packages and dependencies.
