I have a pretty fresh install of Ubuntu with Audacious 2.4 RC2 installed. For the first few days it ran fine, since Saturday it keeps crashing literally 1-2 seconds after opening it.
View 9 RepliesI just got done installing Debian Squeeze on a system..Everything seems to work where audio is concerned, except for audacious.I can get streaming music from vlc/totem as well as play music files (mp3, ogg, flac, ect.).I was wondering if anyone else experiences this problem..It should be noted that I have the Debian multimedia repository enabled as well.When running audacious from terminal and trying to open up an mp3 file I get this message:"madplug: open_audio failed: XMMS reverse compatibility output plugin."

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Ubuntu 10.0.4 and it asked me only set up one application / os user credentials (which I did). After the installation, I came to know that I wasn't able to listen sound from the speakers. Now, in order to fix that issue; I've to install an upgraded driver for my sound card (which I got) but when I run the following command:
it is to create / remove some directories in usr/include/sound directory. user of this directory is root and i get the permissions denied message. I tried to switch as root user but authentication gets failed every time.
Does anyone know how to change the skins in Audacious 2.4?? I for the life of me can't seem to work it out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter spending a full day messing with my dual monitors displays-should-not-be-cloned-by-default, I have now come to the sound. The config looks like the 11.3 setup (I alternate partitions from one install to the next), but all I get is silence. KMix won't run. Amrok is silent. "Sound Configuration" gets me to a window showing two cards I know nothing about. I've got an nVIDIA chip on the mother board and the two cards listed are "M2N72-D w/ snd-hda-intel" and "Creative Tech, Ltd. w/ snd-usb-audio". I'd have gone back to 11.3 where this stuff works, but my configuration files were all auto-updated and don't really work any more. I guess I ought to have archived the config files, but I didn't and I'm here now.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently switched my usb external soundcard from an M-Audio Fast Track Pro to an Edirol UA-25EX (i can get 24bit working on it - that's why). After making the switch, all audio programs are working just fine except for Audacious. When i try to play audio, i get 00:00 and no playing. The output plugin is ALSA and the audio device is UA-25EX. I don't understand why it's not playing the audio.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use Ubuntu 10.04 32 bits and I have one keyboard Logitech Comfort Wave 450 with some multimedia keys (PLAY/PAUSE, VOLUME UP/DOWN, MUTE,.This multimedia keys works well in Rhythmbox but in Qmmp and Audacious2 doesn't. I explain this: Start my Gnome session. I open Qmmp/Audacious with one playlist charged, I press PLAY/PAUSE in my keyboard, but Qmmp/Audacious doesn't play. Close Qmmp/Audacious. I open again Qmmp/Audacious and now, when I press PLAY/PAUSE, it works! It also works if I open Rhythmbox before to open Qmmp/Audacious.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI really like using Audacious, but Rhythmbox (which isn't as horrible as iTunes, admittedly, but I still don't think much of that style of player) is set up as the default audio player on my laptop. I'm running Lucid Lynx on it. When I go to System > Preferences > Preferred Applications, Audacious doesn't come up in the drop-down menu under the Multimedia tab. Anyone know of any way I can change this from Rhythmbox to Audacious?

I have a very fresh and basic install of the weekly jessie build (this week). I've installed nvidia drivers, some non-free plugins, virtualbox, basic system tools, etc. The issue is while playing in audacious, the song will freeze for about 5 seconds. It's always around 5 seconds. Sometimes it's once or twice per song, sometimes I'll play 10 songs without it happening. BTW, all music is on a separate hard drive on an NTFS partition.
In audacious, I'm using the Winamp skin. I noticed when trying to play for the first time, it wouldn't play unless I changed the setting in audacious to use ALSA. That was the only way I could go to Settings and select my SPDIF digital output. But then doing that, other sounds no longer worked (in iceweasel). So I downloaded pavu, was able to select my onboard digital stereo output, set audacious back to pulse audio, and everything now works. Only issue is audacious is freezing every now and then... Is there a driver or module that I need to check for? Is there a way to get everything to use ALSA?
I once tried AV Linux for the low latency kernel but since it was based on Wheezy and I wasn't familiar with repos, everything was extremely outdated, so I migrated away. Should I need an LL kernel for 320kbps audio playback? I haven't sat and watched a full mkv yet, some of those have 1.5mpbs audio.
I updated Audacious to latest version v2.5.1.1 & it wont work anymore.
Whats up with that?

My Rythmbox and SongBird when I click a mp3 the fan goes into over drive and the mp3 song play timer goes up in three's and doesn't play any audio. But I can play the mp3 files in Audacious.
I have gstreamer installed and I can do gstreamer-properties and its setup right for alsa. Whats going on with Songbird and Rythmbox?
I was using audacious happily, but after the dist-update last week I can't get is working anymore. The error message is:

I installed the audacious source code and now i can't find it I looked in "/usr/share/audacious" but no luck. im still getting used to the Linux file system so forgive my ignorance.

When i try to open a music file with RhythmBox everything its fine. But when i open them with audacious nothing happens. I can play music files that are stored in my laptop , but not from my hard drive from NSLU2.

VLC started to crash today, after (I think?) updating to KDE 4.5 . I'm not sure if it's the update's fault, as it was also today that I switched to KDE from GNOME. All I know is, that up until now, VLC was very stable, it never crashed. Now, it will start only to close in a few seconds later. I tried re-installing it, but it didn't work. It doesn't matter if I open a file directly, or start it from a terminal/menu. If I start it from a terminal, this is what I see:

i'm using lucid and have ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB graphics card. I installed ATI's drivers and XBMC used to work perfectly, but now after i disabled them and activated them again i have this problem:

When i start it,i see very strange image,like hundreds of rectangles with parts of images from games,applications,even parts of my Windows desktop (which is on another partition). And after 2-3 seconds,it exits.
I use maverick 64bit and banshee crashes a few seconds after I start the program, this is what I get:

I deleted the banshee folder in .configure but every time the library is loaded the problem starts again.
I have always used and enjoyed Banshee. I recently did a fresh install of Maverick Meerkat. Banshee runs fine under my user account but crashes instantly under my wife's. I have tried deleting all config files and re-installing. Here is the terminal output when starting the program:

i have ubuntu 10.4, and adobe flash 10 keeps crashing. i tried installing the newer adobe flash, but was not able to find it on my operating system once it said it was installed.
i un-installed, then re-installed the stock adobe flash recommended on my ubuntu software center twice, logged off/back in, rebooted, tried everything i know, but it just keeps showing that it crashed. i can't pull up anything on videos, and it crashes quickly with other sites?
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10x64, Athlon II x4, 4 gigs of ram, ATI Radeon HD 4770 with fglrx drivers (downloaded from the ATI website and installed as per the Ubuntu community wiki). I did a clean install of Ubuntu when I put in the ATI card. I've been having a lot of problems with my system locking up entirely due to video problems. The mouse won't work, ctrl-f1 or f2 don't do anything, no keyboard commands work, in fact, except for doing alt+prscr+REISUB in order to restart. At first this was happening seemingly at random whenever I watched videos. In another thread, I was able to narrow this down to Compiz, and I solved it by completely removing Compiz. It very rarely happens while watching video files or DVDs now (though it has happened).
In General, 3D gaming seems to work working fine with wine. I can play WoW and Civ4 with no lockups. However, Left4Dead always locks up the system the moment the map loads. This has also happened with OpenArena. I'm not so concerned about Wine apps (and I know this isn't the place to ask about them). What I'm concerned about is why this is locking up my entire system rather than, say,just crashing the game. figure out why video seems to be taking down my entire system?
Since upgrading to 10.04, Rhythmbox has been crashing regularly. It seems that every time it picks a new track, it has a chance of closing without notice. This can happen for the first track it plays, when clicking "next track" or when automatically going to the next track. This only seems to happen on shuffle, which is the way I usually use Rhythmbox. I tried running it with `rhythmbox -d` but the only output consistent between crashes is "Aborted", which appears suddenly and without any additional information or even a line break.

I am running Maverick on Asus k52J laptop. I recently updated my clementine to 0.6 and since then all my music players are crashing on song play (includes banshee, clementine and rhythmbox). I removed and reinstalled all players, changed repositories and downgraded, reinstalled qt and python but nothing seems to fix the problem with these players.I installed some other players (audacious, exaile, vlc, foobnix) and they are working pretty well. But I am addicted to clementine and banshee.

when I watch Flash based video, more and more of my memory is eaten up until nothing is left and the system crashes. I don't see anything in the logs so I don't know where to start.
