I can add my own wallpapers to the list shown in the Desktop Activity Settings box, but can't find a way to remove them again. Is there a control for this somewhere else, or a config file somewhere that I could at least edit manually? I am using KDE 4.4.2, with the kubuntu-desktop package installed on top of Lucid/GNOME.
View 4 RepliesAll I want is for my bootloader to show "Ubuntu" & "Windows XP" which are the only 2 OS's I have installed (dual booting). At the moment it shows Windows XP, Ubuntu, Ubuntu recovery mode & like 2 more.. which are also Ubuntu & recovery mode. I've never selected the other Ubuntu ones, only the first one. So, how can I remove the ones I don't want to show on the list.

So I am looking for any script or app to list all orphaned (I mean not related to any installed package) files. I am using Ubuntu Server 9.10 without any fancy X11 stuff so console version is preferred. I have found bitbleach and computer janitor in this forum but they are X11 apps.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn Ubuntu 9.10 I was able to remove the user list from gdm. However in 10.04 I am unable to do this. I searched the forums with no luck.
I opened gconf-editor using sudo and went to apps>gdm>simple-greeter. I then checked disable_user_list.
After complete shutdown, I was still placed in the list screen. I checked gconf-editor and the disable_user_list was still checked.
I recently downloaded some browsers using the synaptic package manager and after taking a look at them I used synaptic to remove them.
However when I ran an update I found that these browsers were still on my sources list and I could not update correctly. So I need to remove them from my sources list.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed suse x64 kde in dual boot mode with windows. I have 2 primary partitions with ntfs with 1 for windows7 boot and other for data/storage. There is no boot provision for data partition. SUSE install is on extended partition. I am unable to run fdisk -l and boot info script for some reason, kde is freaking me out (used to use gnome for last 4 years). The GRUB shows data as a boot and it added an entry in its menu. I will like to remove that entry from menu list.

There are other files that should not be deleted which is why I am using the "*.trc" and newer files need to be kept as well. I have seen other postings but they do not cover both of the conditions. Below are 2 of the many attempts at doing this but I cannot get this to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI accidentally clicked on a wireless network once and now every time I boot up, it tries to connect to that network and asks for the password. I have to keep pressing cancel and then it connects to my regular network.
I tried fiddling around with the network settings but I couldn't see any place where I could remove that network from the 'List of preferred networks' or at least try to prevent it from connecting automatically.
How to remove this network from the list of preferred networks? Edit some file somewhere maybe?
I have an old FC2 box running Squid version 2.5. It has been running since 2003 so I am in the process of replacing it. I have a new machine with FC11, iptables, and Squid 3.0 installed.
On the old machine I use iptables to intercept Port 80 traffic and send it to Squid. By default I block all internet access and allow only sites that are in an Allowed_Sites.txt file. Within Squid I also have statements to allow certain users to bypass Squid based on their IP address.
I have set up the same thing on the new box. I have iptables intercepting the Port 80 traffic and sending it to Squid. That is working because if I remove the redirect statement from iptables all internet access is blocked.
The problem I am having is that Squid is not blocking any websites. It acts like the ACL is set to http_access allow all. I have worked on this for several hours and am stumped.

There is a problem with my source list (apparently) I'm running 11.04 if that helps.When I try to use apt-get install update for example, I get: "Malformed line 59 in source list etc/apt/sources.list"The same error occurs when trying to access synaptic package manager, it tells me there is a malformed line and the list of sources cannot be read.This error prevents me from apt-getting anything, updating and i suspect it is affecting the software center too.
