I've kind of ignored this until I had the major parts of my ubuntu said up. During videos I cannot click on the little bars to move ahead in the video this happens sometimes in ..... and in other stuff. Also if an add that like stretches onto the screen comes up I might not be able to click exit. In both cases my mouse thing turns into the little hand for clicking but it doesn't work.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer has two physical hard drives. Up till now, the first hard drive was for Windows XP and Windows 7, the second was used for file storage. I just installed Lucid Lynx on the second drive. The two problems are as follows.

2. I have kept the Windows 7 boot loader (choice of 7 or XP) on the first hard drive, and put Ubuntu and grub on the second hard drive. That way, if I want to load Ubuntu, I press F9 for the hp boot menu and select the second hard drive. From there, I would like this to boot straight into Ubuntu. How do I keep the grub boot menu from appearing? Should I just edit grub.cfg, so it has a timeout value of 0?

im using the netbook last version on my Acer One D250. But i have some issues with internet. It doesnt matter how i get connected, internet is very slow, even more some videos. i let videos charge at 100% and then reproduce them, but still slower. also, some video pages dont charge on Mozilla firefox.

It works, except for video problems : - when I want to read a DVD, I can very well see and use the menu (where it is proposed to watch the movie or choose a scene), but when I launch the movie, theplayer stops. It happens with both VLC and Movie Player (I have not yet tried other player). - If I watch a video on ..... (or other websites), it is OK when I watch it embedded in the page. But if I want to put it full screen, the sound is still OK, but the image is frozen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I shut down the machine everything is as it should be. Time set from the net, hwclock synced. When I boot again, time is set several hours into the future. This is an additive process, when I don't set the correct time it drifts with every boot even days into the future (until boot is denied, because files are too far in the future). I tried to get rid of that behaviour by doing:

I have Ubuntu on both my machines but my older machine is a Duron with 128 mb of ram. Because of that, I have Xubuntu 6.06 on it. It runs very well. So well, I wondered if I could use it to stream internet radio or even videos. Problem is, I can't find flash for it.

In Windows the only program that I managed to do the job with is "Stream Transport", and got .mp4 files that I could watch later.But I don't have windows anymore, it is corrupted. In ubuntu, however, the many firefox add-ons, stand alone programs that I tested, don't see the video file. In the source of the page I don't understand anything, everything is concealed under javascript text... The video is not saved in the firefox cache.
How can I capture it? Does anybody know how to deal with this kind of well-concealed video files?In theory, it should be possible to record everything that comes into the machine, but how?
P.S. By TRICKY I mean something non-standard (not ....., dailymotion, etc).

The VM software in use is Xen, as supplied with the OS.The host machine's time and date is fine, however both Virtual Servers are running ahead of real time consitantly.Running /etc/init.d/ntpd restart will resolve the issue however one of these is running MailScanner and when the time suddenly goes backwards, sometimes by as much as an hour, it stops working properly.

I have two applets on my Gnome panel -- NetworkManager Applet 0.8, and Klipper (it works better than Glipper) -- that I want to move.
HOWEVER, right-clicking the panel icons does not enable me to move these applets, as follows:
- NetworkManager Applet 0.8 does not include a Move item in its list of options.
- Klipper displays a long list of Klipper options but no Move option.
How I can move these items to new locations on the Gnome panel?
i'm using (Ubuntu 8.04 _Hardy Heron) and every time i try to watch a video all i see is black, i installed vlc, and mplayer, and i still just get black every time i go on .....

It'll probably want some plugins when you initially try to encode a video to mv4. I cannot remember for the life of me which plugin I used, some gstreamer plugins and one of them was an "extra". Anyways, I got pissed off when I found out libfaac and libfaad got canned but was determined to make this work.

So, another tech person (not Ubuntu), told me to go to the terminal and type in"
sudo apt-get remove flash plugin-nonfree
i did that, and now i can't open utube videos, and the other FB videos still don't open.
Here is my problem. Just installed Ubuntu 10.04 with Rivendell radio automation software built in (RRAbuntu). I installed it on an older machine, an HP XT919 (I know it's a bit older, but everything runs fine EXCEPT)...No audio. Audio was fine when I ran the live CD. I first installed Ubuntu 9.04 and had audio, but it kept locking up. I then installed 10.04 with Rivendell. No audio on CD's, no audio on Videos, nothing. I already ran terminal and raised all the levels in alsamixer. What else may be the problem?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have XP and Ubuntu on my computer, and the only thing that keeps me using Windows is that I need to view streaming WMV videos for school. I use windows media player for this almost every day, and I also use the play speed settings to speed up the videos to 1.5x.
I tried watching the videos in Ubuntu using VLC, but I keep having trouble navigating through the video, and even pausing and restarting doesn't seem to work right. Is there a program that will do this reliably, or is there a way to get WMP running in ubuntu? I would love to get rid of windows, but all of my lectures are streamed solely in WMV, and I would need to get this working.
I have just installed ubuntu on my computer and its been a real good experience until i found that it won't play my videos, do i have to download some sort of codec or plugin (even vlc won't play anything and it usually comes with the codecs pre-installed) i know linux can play my videos i have had them working with my pclinuxos desktop why not ubuntu. i'm using ubuntu 9.04.

I can get all the utube videos other website videos , but no BBC videos using U 9.10 and Opera 10.10. They work with FF or Using Opera in Fedora it works fine. I have all the usual Gstreamers, restricted extras/flash player etc. I read just about every post I can but see nothing I do not already have.
