I have figured out how to mount the 2nd hard drive. But dosbox doesn't recognize any directory other then the directory that dosbox is in.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to setup and old BBSinside of DosBOXI've built one of the DosBOX Megabuilds, with the NE2000 patch. It uses libpcap in order to piggy back on top of the system's NIC. All of the dosbox side appears to be working. My system comes up, gets the MAC address i told it to use, i can load a packet driver in dosbox, all of that seems well and good. The issue, i think, is on the linux side. It's built on a Fedora 14 box. I'm getting the feeling that networking isnt getting out of the dosbox instance. Does it seem possible that fedora needs to have some config in place to link networking over to dosbox?

View 3 Replies View Related how do I create a launcher for an application using DosBox? I tried in Alacarte, but it does not show up. I did this both as root and as user.Disregard. It did create the launchers. It just put them in "Other" even though I told it to create them in "Internet" so they are there, but just not where I want them. That is okay since now I can add them to my favorites and put them in the order I want.
I guess I will like Gnome 3 better as I find tweaks to make it work like I want it to work. Still though, it is not nearly as user friendly as my heavily tweaked Gnome 2 with Compiz.Another question though: How do I get it to select and use a photo I want for the background instead of the stock images? It is annoying as all get-out to have the screen turn to grey rather than stay the way I want it. :
I have debian 5 installed on a laptop. I am trying to install maxthink on this computer (according to some people here it is the best software after slackware )I tried to install maxthink on wine (debian default) it complains about some version conflicts and finally gives an error'c:windowssystem32Tlist7.ocx' not being registered. tried dosbox. With dosbox while running the application it tells me that'this program cannot be run in dos mode'.After about a week of tweaking things I still have no solution

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to mount dosbox on a share on a remote computer. I did it in Win XP without any troubles. In Ubuntu it does n't work.
First I made the map in media and connected the share. The share works fine, but I cann't mount DOSBOX. Then I put the share in the /home/user directory. Share works fine! But dosbox does not mount.
On mount c /home/user/mydrive
I get: Drive C does not exist.
I think that the permissions are not correct.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've used Ubuntu just a couple of times, and I've Never performed the Installation. I've been a Windows user mostly. But I'm ready for a change. I would like to Install Linux on my Desktop & Netbook Computer.Problem is, how to go about it.On the Desktop, I'm not the only person using it, and while I'm all & ready to try Ubuntu (Specially since XP Broke 3 days ago and the Format is impending) The rest of the people using the PC aren't. On the Netbook, right now I can't since I'm working on something, and I'm worried about compatibility issues between Platforms. So I did some research on how to get both Platforms up and running, and I found Wubi. Seemed like a perfect way to start! However, I downloaded the client, and when Downloading the rest of the Installation software, It just took way too long!On ETA it marked 4 hours at first (sure enough, it took little more than that) but then it gave me a new ETA of 8 HOURS!
Is there any other way to download it? Other than the 1.6 Mb Client file? & For the Desktop. Since I'm formating the HD anyway, What steps should I follow to install both OS on it?
I want to install gcc version 2.96 or version under 3.5 in ubuntu-9.04. I have installed gcc version 4.3.3 (Ubuntu 4.3.3-5ubuntu4).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop on a system containing Windows XP and Slackware 12. This is my first experience with Ubuntu and Grub 2. During install, I requested "side by side" installation, and that seemed to proceed nicely until installation completed and I tried to boot On boot, all I see is:

I've tried all the reinstall procedures at [URL]... to no avail. Once clue is that in the last chroot method, update-grub produces an error message: "Cannot find list of partitions!" I can see the partitions. Ubuntu can see them with fdisk, but Grub 2 can't? I'm about to eliminate the problem by using gravity to subject the computer to rapid deceleration from a 30 foot height.
I've been trying for a while to get Ubuntu to support Divx and so far I can't get it to install. I've tried getting it to run with Wine but it doesn't trust any executable file. I then tried using Ubuntu Software Centre to see if there is a Ubuntu version but so far I can't seem to get even that version to work. The main issue though is that it would be nice to be able to run software via Wine and I don't know why I can't figure that out lol.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install the latest version of K9copy, but the only available version is in the .tar.gz file package. I placed the folder on my desktop and extracted the files. Now I have the .tar.gz file and the extracted files on the desktop. I need to install the files, but I don't know which command to use or what to do to get any commands to work.
(Keep in mind that the extracted folder is named 'k9copy-2.3.4-Source.tar.gz')
./configure
make
make install
This seems to be the most common answer to install the files, but it NEVER works, nor do I understand where the package files come into play when I type this command into the terminal.
my lappy is 64bit...But I dont remember, So far I am using 32bit ubuntu. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have reloaded windows xp and now after installing ubuntu latest version, I get a boot menu that gives options. if I select the Ubuntu option, within a few seconds(2)the monitor shows "out of range"! However it is possible to get a command prompt from this menu,(Grub)by pressing "C" then Tab, which lists about 30 commands! But I cannot find what command will overide the ubuntu boot display setting! yet if it is possible in the disc boot F6 menu, then it follows that it must be possible in the hard disk boot menu? (ie nomodeset available on the disk F6, so using F6-nomodeset on the disk allows me to install or run from the disk, which then runs perfectly) Only I cannot make changes in the Ubuntu live that runs direct from the disk, to the installation on the hard drive. My Monitors Max is 75hz 1280x1024, LCD. And although not the latest model, Its still relatively current. Windows from the boot menu works fine.

I decided to see if I could update my Firefox install that comes with Crunchbang Linux (cut-down Ubuntu).
I followed the Mozilla instructions to the letter and the first thing I found was that I had missing files and or directories. With this in mind and thinking about it - I uninstalled my current Firefox with the Package manager.
I then followed the install instrcutions again but, this time telling the system where to find the .tar.bz2 file I donwloaded (version 3.6 from the mozilla site).
Everything appeared to extract and following the instructions for starting Firefox - I got version 3.0.17, exactly the same as I already had.
I admit that I am a bit confused on how to proceed with this.I currently have an older version of Ubuntu (6 something) and windows vista and I have dual booting. I am trying to install 10.04 on top of the older Ubuntu and I want to keep the Windows partition. Last time I tried, I completely screwed up.I have multiple partitions now with a bunch of smaller ones that got created by mistake. I would like to re-size my partitions to have 1 main windows partition, 1 linux partition and 1 swap file partition. My HD is 160GB and I would ideally like to have the Ubuntu and Windows partitions roughly the same size.I included some screenshots of the install process and also a screenshot of my partitions.

I am currently using Cent OS 5.4 and I was able to successfully install ns 2.34 on the machine and run a few test FTP simulations. The problem stems from the fact that the ns 2 installation used in the ATM simulation , in the link provided, uses ns2.1b7 or ns2.1b9.
I have tried to see if I could cheat and implement the patch for my ns2.34 installation but that failed flat out ( make failed with an incorrect parameter error) I then tried to download the older versions of ns that were used in the ATM Simulation, ns 2.1b9 and that failed too ( otcl make failed with g++ error) which i figured failed because I am using g++ version 4.1 . ( From the docuemntation, this particular version of the software had trouble with any g++ version > 3.2)
a) Is anyone aware of any ATM Simulation patch for the current version of ns i.e. ns 2.34?
b) Is there anyway I can confgure the patch for the ns2.1b9/7 version to work smoothly with the ns2.34 version I have installed?
c) What are the recommendations for me to install the ATM Simulation provided on the URL above.
I just tried this and it only installed PHP 5.1.6
