I know 11.04 is available for download at the moment, but it isn't showing up in Update-Manager. I would just put it on a disk and install it that way, but I'm running 10.04 in Wubi. Update-Manager is currently set to receive all 'normal' releases.
View 6 RepliesI'm running 9.10 and did not upgrade to 10.4 because I thought I'd just wait tor 10.10. However, if I go to Sys/Admin.>Update Manager>'check'>'install'>'check' I do not get informed of upgrade choices.I am trying not to do an install with this because then I would have to reload and reset everything including 80+ CD's. Please help if you can.I know I have to Ugrade to 10.4 before I can upgrade to 10.10, however my update manger offers neither option after installing updates and rechecking.

When I open the Update Manager, it says there is 399 updates. When I click install, after about ten seconds this pops up:Code:An internal system error has occuredA problem we were not expected has occured. I'm running 10.04 and for several days now I get two packages that are grayed out and do not upgrade in upgrade-manager.
If I use the shell and apt-get I get the following message: The following packages have been kept back: firefox-gnome-support update-manager
The system is functioning well, but these 2 packages just linger as I process probably hundreds of lucid upgraded packages.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt started with Update Manager constantly recycling and not updating. When it starts it shows 295 files and 308MB waiting to download. When I click on 'Install Updates' it appears to go through the process, and then presents me with the same 'waiting to install' window again - and again, and again - in fact as many times as I care to click the 'Install Updates' button. No error messages appear. The 'Settings' button produces the same apparent process as the 'Install Updates' button, but doesn't present me with any other screen.
I've tried all the solutions I could find on these forums and nothing works. The sudo suggestions for Terminal usually produce error codes. adjusting a line in the 'hosts' file. When I tried this I was presented with the obstacle of not having access to the read-only file, and no matter how much I searched I couldn't find how to gain access . While investigating all these possible solutions, I was directed in turn to the Software Sources and Synaptic Package Manager applications, but when I attempted to start them, 'Starting Administrative Application' appeared briefly on the taskbar - and then disappeared!
After a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10-64bit I don't have Hardware Manager, Update Manager or Software Resources just to name a few.I tried sudo apt-get update & sudo apt-get upgrade & everything is up to date.

having had problems with getting grub2 to work on dual HDD setup...despite the most excellent advice on the forum i took the plunge and installed 10.10 from update manager within 10.04..... bingo fixed grub and now have dual boot again. but the update manager and synaptic package don't work because of libedata-cal1.2-6 file that remains..following other advice on the forum Advice gratefully received, how can i force an unistall of this package

After downloading almost 95% of the update, it gave an error message of "could not download certain components. downloaded files will not be erased" and stopped the update. I restarted the PC, and started the update manager again. But now it does not show any option of update to 10.4. how do I continue or resume the update process? I just started using ubuntu about 15 days back. So, I am relatively new to this.

I allready changed the settings from regular to LTS, but nothing changes. There are updates to the kernel, but I cannot download them, so I'm kinda stuck here.
