Ubuntu Installation :: Downgrade To Firefox Older Version In 10.04?

May 8, 2010

I just upgraded to 10.04, and am quite happy with it so far, but it installed Firefox 3.6, which is a problem for me because I need to be able to use the Jssh plugin, which isn't available for 3.6 yet. All I need to do is downgrade Firefox to 3.5, but I seem to be having some issues, it seems that there is only the one version available to me in Synaptic. Is there another repository that I need to add to have access to an older version?

After upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04 and consequently to Firefox 4.0, Firefox crashes repeatedly. I have not installed any plugins, or extensions or themes. I want to downgrade to Firefox 3.6, but there seems to be no easy way to do this other than downloading the binary from Mozilla. Is there any PPA from where I can get the lower version of Firefox?

Slackware :: Accidentally Upgraded Kernel-headers - Should Downgrade ?

May 22, 2011

When I first did my install of Slackware 13.37, I installed the 2.6.38.4 kernel from /testing.

I did a "upgradepkg testing/kernel*.t?z"

Well just now I realized that there was a kernel-headers package in /testing, and I've heard that you should only use the kernel headers that glibc was compiled with.

So did I make a mistake installing the kernel-headers from /testing?

And if I revert back to the stock kernel-headers package, will I have to recompile all the programs I've compiled with the 2.6.38.4 headers?

Ubuntu Installation :: Older Version Of Libqt4 On Dist-upgraded System

Sep 1, 2010

I am developing an application for Qt 4.6 and I am happy that Lucid has recently introduced this version of Qt in it's repository. However, a collegue of mine cannot install my application, and when I try to find out why I see that He is still looking at libqt4 version 4.5 in the repository. Notably, He recently made a dist-upgrade (I believe is the term) from Karmic to Jaunty and from Jaunty to Lucid.Does anyone know why he has a different repository, or perhaps even what I could do to get Him up to 4.6 in an apt-ly manner, so to speak?

How do i roll back firefox5beta to firefox4 and keep updating to the latest stable releases w/out upgrading to beta? The only extension that isn't working is FEBE which is incompatible w/ firefox5beta (profile, extension and preference backup). Have to use FEBE beta7 under Firefox4 so I don't think a compatible release for Firefox5beta is going to come out any time soon.

Ubuntu :: Is 10.10 A Stable Version

Nov 10, 2010

Why does update manager doesn't tell me that ubuntu 10.10 is out? I'm running 10.04.1 LTS. I have to do alt-F2 "update-manager -d" in order to see the 10.10 message even if ubuntu is config to notice me of normal releases.And then just before the update begins, the official readme says that 10.10 is (at the moment) a RELEASE CANDIDATE version. Just an old not-updated readme?Why does Ubuntu official home page annunces 10.10 as a stable version?

i reinstalled flash player and the flash plugin. while installing the flash plugin for firefox, i noticed that it said that the flash plugin was supported for firefox 2.x, and 3.x. i figure if i downgrade my firefox to 3.x it'll solve my problems... but how do i do that without losing everything?

Ubuntu :: Downgrade Firefox 5 To 4?

Jun 28, 2011

I thought I would find this everywhere but I haven't. I upgraded to Firefox 5 when it came into Mozilla's stable PPA but about 60% of my plugins are not working. I've tried forcing compatibility using the Nightly Tester tools but still have tons non-functional. Is there a safe procedure to downgrade to v4.x? Is there a PPA with 4 still available (Mozilla simply removed it entirely). I'm using Lucid 10.4.2 32bit. I'm normally pretty careful on upgrades but this one got past me. This new release schedule is going to kill Firefox if they don't solve the plugin issue.

Debian Configuration :: Downgrade The Kernel Patch Version?

Aug 31, 2011

When a real kernel version is upgraded, like say 2.6.32 to 2.6.38, the old kernel is left intact and is ready to be used in case of a problem with a new one, but when only a debian patch version is updated, like 2.6.32-30 to 2.6.32-35, the old kernel is replaced with a new one. More then this, aptitude shows that older version is not in repository either, so how do you supposed to revert back? Well, i did found -30 in apt cache when i got hit by a nasty regression in -35 yesterday, but what if i had cleaned apt cache?
