Ubuntu :: I Shared A Folder From Gnome - Get An Error : 'net Usershare' Returned Error 255?
Dec 10, 2010
I logged in as user1 with administrative privileges.I right-clicked on a folder on my desktop, then "Sharing Options", then shared the folder as "docs".Then I created a new user with administrative privileges, user2, and logged in as that user. Then, I deleted user1 - account settings, and files. Then I created a folder on my desktop and tried to share it as "docs", but I get the following error: 'net usershare' returned error 255: net usershare add: failed to add share docs. Error was Operation not permitted
I can share the folder as any other name, just not "docs".My smb.conf file doesn't contain the entry.I'd love to know where the configuration file is that's hi-jacked the name "docs".
I am trying to share shared folder via email myemail@yahoo.com to myemail@hotmail.com When I click the link and accept button. I get this error: Something has gone wrong (500)
We've recorded this problem and it will get investigated with the logs. If this problem is urgent, please file a bug report and include this number: OOPS-ID-1585appserver20308. If I share a folder via email to abc@yahoo.com is it mean only share to abc@yahoo.com OR every ubuntu one user can access it if they have the link? Let user type in sharing title and message that appear in the email. This is because standard message and title always make people think that is spam virus and they ignore.
Website login problem: Everytime I login at login.ubuntu. it doesn't automatic link me back to my storage and i have to type change login.ubuntu to one.ubuntu and click sign-in to login.
simple scan error as follows: Failed to save file ImageMagick returned error code 11 Command line: convert -adjoin /tmp/simple-scan-DA9MBV.jpg /tmp/simple-scan-XCK4BV.jpg /tmp/simple-scan-NZVYBV.pdf Stdout: Stderr: using karmic note: I have apparmor extra profiles installed but didn't notice one that related to simple scan or imagemagick. Red herring or not?
I dont know how to put this that somobody would understand my problem but here we go. I have problem like said in title.I am unable to upgrade my kernel. Sunaptics says that I have 2.6.35-28 installed. I tried to reinstall 2.6.35-28 via synaptics but it gives me error.
Thats what uname -a says:
pekka@pekka-laptop:~$ uname -a Linux pekka-laptop 2.6.35-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 21 17:40:48 UTC 2011 i686 GNU/Linux
Tried to install 2.6.35-27 via terminal thats what I get:
Code: pekka@pekka-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.35-27 [sudo] password for pekka: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree code....
dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.35-25-generic (--remove): subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: linux-image-2.6.35-25-generic E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) pekka@pekka-laptop:
I have two computers running Ubuntu 9.10, both have one shared folder. These were set up via Nautilus.
On computer 1 I can see and use the shared folder of computer 2 just fine.
On computer 2 I can NOT see the shared folder of computer 1 anymore since recently. I has worked in the past.
Some more information: the name of computer 1 is "daniel", the share name is "gedeeld". So the address of the shared folder of computer 1 would be smb://daniel/gedeeld/ Opening this address in Nautilus works fine on computer 1 (that shares the folder), but results in an error on computer 2.

I have been having off and on issues with my samba file shares. I am sharing a NTFS formated hard drive where the mount point is in my home directory, as well as a printer connected via USB. I am to the point where printing works (using it as an ipp print share, samba is configured for it, but I don't know if it works or not), and I can access the shared folder from Windows, but I can't access the shared folder from any Ubuntu machine. I get the error:
I recently setup a new server that serves files over samba and is a subversion repository for a number of projects. I did a simple apt-get update/upgrade for which the system requested a reboot. After I rebooted, I got to the login prompt, at which point I ran into a problem. After I enter my correct credentials, it spits out the following error:
sh: error while loading shared libraries libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: Error 24
and returns me to the login prompt. Samba and Subversion are both still working, I simply can't login to the server either physically or via SSH.
What steps should I be taking to correct this issue? My thoughts are that I may need to use a Live CD to load the system and perhaps do another update, but before I go through that process I just wanted to check in and see if there might be some other solution.
I have tried googling the issue, and while I have seen other posts regarding shared library issues, there was never anything about not being able to login and I never did find anything specific to the error message I received.
Whenever I try to open my home folder in GNOME, I get the following error as seen in the attachment. How can I fix this? I do have nautilus installed, so what could be the problem??
after install slackware with gnome using gnome slack build it is work fine Except some thing :-

I tried to install Fedora 12 on my machine using the Fedora-12-i386-DVD and get the following error: /sbin/load_policy:error while loading shared libraries: lib/libsepol.so.1: cannot read the file data:input/output error exec of anaconda failed install exited abnormally [1/1]
Just trying to install Skype on Fedora 12 .. but got an error: skype: error while loading shared libraries: libasound.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory So, anyone got it working there ?
just installed Ubuntu 10.04 and installed the flightgear package and the fgfs-base package. I ran fgfs from a terminal and got this error:
Code: $ fgfs fgfs: error while loading shared libraries: libOpenThreads.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory $ So then I did: Code: sudo apt-get install libopenthreads12 and it gave me these errors:
I'm trying to run Kega Fusion on my laptop, which can now FINALLY run Linux (ATI drivers finally work on it), and I can't get the emulator to work..
Code: brandon@brandon-laptop:~/Desktop/Fusion$ ./Fusion ./Fusion: error while loading shared libraries: libGLU.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory brandon@brandon-laptop:~/Desktop/Fusion$ uname -a Linux brandon-laptop 2.6.32-24-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jul 5 09:20:59 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux brandon@brandon-laptop:~/Desktop/Fusion$ Help? I have the ATI proprietary drivers installed. I tried without them and it still wouldn't work. (And OpenGL is seemingly working as Compiz Fusion is running. I also tried with Compiz disabled but the same error pops up).
I'm running lucid 32-bit. I get this error when I try to run the installer for Unreal Tournament GOTY:
Code: Verifying archive integrity... All good. Uncompressing Unreal Tournament 436-multilanguage.goty Installer. /home/computer/.setup1548: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory computer@computer-desktop:~/UnrealInstall$ I tried installing libgtk1.2 (as told by some people in other threads), but couldn't do that:
Code: E: Couldn't find package libgtk1.2 However, I checked that I do have libgtk2.0 So what should I do?
I recently upgraded a couple of my systems from 8.04 LTS to 10.04 LTS. I had no issues with nfs prior to the upgrade. After the upgrade I am occasionally seeing the following messages:
mspfiles being the share name.
This never used to happen on 8.04. Generally the error "Socket operation on non-socket" points to a coding error. Could this be a bug in the kernel? Has anyone else come across this?
The only other recent reference that I found to the same errors was in this comment on the OpenSUSE bugtracker: [url]
It seems as though it is handling loss of connectivity less gracefully than it did before.
I can't really upgrade any more of my servers until this is fixed as we are heavily dependant on nfs.
I have an application consisting of different processes and all these processes are linked to shared libraries. I start the application (spawn all the different processes) as say user1. Now with the application up, if I run a process p1, the process gets activated and works. However, if I start the same process p1 as a different user, say user2, which is completely different from user1 the process complains of
"error while loading shared libraries:...."
I set LD_RUN_PATH both in compile and runtime environment. LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set correctly in both places.
All the above works if I set the absolute path of the required shared libraries in /etc/ld.so.conf file and rebuild the /etc/ld.so.cache
Alright, just loaded a fresh copy of OpenSuSE 11.3 x64, went to update manager and let it update, came back and computer was shut down. After booting it back up, I cannot update any software, nor run any commands.
Here is my output:
Code: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I've tried searching for this error, some people came back saying to run this:
Code:
But all that happens is this:
Code:
Nor ls work either so I'm stuck and thinking about a reinstall.
I don't understand how this system could be so messed up after a failed update.. Used to trust SuSE, not sure anymore after this incident..
Installed Skype but it wont launch. Running the latest Opensuse Gnome. Ive uninstalled it and reinstalled several times but always with the same error. When I try to run it from terminal I get this:
ig@linux-ljqk:~> skype skype: error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Ive just now uninstalled skype and tried reinstalling it again via yast, but now I get the following error [PK_TMP_DIR|dir:///var/tmp/TmpDir.xftzR0] Repository already exists.
After finally getting my wireless/graphics drivers working yesterday (thanks to this forum ) I startx to realize that not a single KDE/Qt application will launch, along with Firefox, or Chrome/Chromium. (I did a full install from the DVD, not deselecting anything, and when I upgraded to -current, I also did the same.)
Ark said:
Quote:
ark: error while loading shared libraries: liblzma.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
but I managed to fix that one by commenting out 'aaa_elflibs' in /etc/slackpkg/blacklist (on a recommendation from #slackware), and running slackpkg upgrade-all again, but that's the only one (afaik) that was fixed. Ark still doesn't work, but it doesn't show that error anymore. When I run it, a box pops up that says "Unable to find Ark's KPart component, please check your installation."
Kate still says:
Quote:
kate: error while loading shared libraries: libkemoticons.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Now, konsole, firefox, and Chromium's errors are a little different.
Konsole:
Quote:
konsole: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libphonon.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN9QMetaType15registerTypedefEPKci
Firefox and Chrome basically say the same thing
Quote:
/usr/lib/firefox-3.6.13/firefox-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/skypebuttons.so: undefined symbol: _ZN9QListData11detach_growEPii
again, I am completely baffled here, as I had kate, konsole and ark running before I upgraded to -current.
I think that my computer crashed one time, while I was in middle of installing some new software, and it seems like it have made "dpkg" confused with itself - it thinks, that I still need to install "Wine", but it is allready installed, so everything is allright. But everytime, when I am upgrading or installing any kind of software, it give me this error (just an error, everything still works and installs fine):
I'm tried to install bandwidthd on Ubuntu 9.10 and keep getting the following error.I have been looking around for a while and have been unsuccessful in finding a answer.

Code: Select allsudo apt-get install php5 Lecture des listes de paquets... Fait Construction de l'arbre des dépendances Lecture des informations d'état... Fait Les paquets supplémentaires suivants seront installés : libapache2-mod-php5 php5-cli php5-common
Thought I could just place a hard drive with a preloaded Ubuntu install from another machine (a loaner machine) into this one; change a few drivers and be on my way. Too many errors to count. ALSA; Jack; LiveTex all cratered and I'm tired of fighting this. I've spent more than two days trying to get stuff working and if there's anything I've learned from years of experience there's a time to cut bait and run.
A clean install on the actual hardware I'm using has to be better than the hodge podge I have now. What I would like from the community is recommendations for what to do AFTER the install.
1) where can I find the most up-to-date comprehensive and exhaustive list of repositories for the Synaptic Package Manager?
2) I like to do sound and video processing. I would like to have the program applications Qsynth, Virtual Midi Keyboard, Muse Score, Csound, GNU Denemo, and many others that either fail to start or produce no sound to work. What, besides the programs need to be loaded in order to make these work?
3) A helpful list of recommendations on what to install along with order preference. In other words 'this needs to be done before this...' on a new Ubuntu install.
In case anyone's interested: Here's a small list of some of the errors I currently have. AlsaModularSynth - Could not open file.Qsynth1 - Failed to create the audio driver (jack) / Jack server not running.
Errors were encountered while processing:
texlive-latex-base-doc E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Qtractor - The audio/MIDI engine could not be started. Make sure the JACK audio server (jackd) and/or the ALSA Sequencer kernel module (snd-seq-midi) are up and running and then restart the session.
apt-get install alsa-utils - Errors were encountered while processing: texlive-latex-base-doc E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Jack configuration files not found; the list is endless. Plus many errors trying to get texlive to work.
The problem emerged when I started to make the internal microphone and external speakers work [URL]. In either kernel 2.6.32-24 or 2.6.35-15 - cannot install any package with apt-get. Here is the error I get when installing just anything [URL]. Basically, here is it:
Code: ERROR: Build failed. Please review the build log at /tmp/alsa-driver-linuxant.3620.log dpkg: error processing alsa-driver-linuxant (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 Setting up libxslt1-dev (1.1.26-1ubuntu1) ...
