Ubuntu :: Disable New Scroll Bar In 11.04?

May 3, 2011

In the ubuntu 11.04, the scrollbar work different. The left/right arrow controls appear after I click on the orange scroll part of the scroll bar. Is there a way to disable to go back to the traditional scroll bar, where it has left/right arrow at each end and I can click on anywhere of the scroll bar to scroll there.

Ubuntu :: Scroll Tab Vanishes Before Can Click On It To Scroll Down

Jun 3, 2011

The new scroll tab that 11.04 has appears when you hover over the orange area on the scroll bar. The scrolling arrows are gone.Well this scrolling tab often vanishes before I can click on it to scroll down. Is there a way to revert to the old style, like the scrolling mechanism on these forums? It is nice to have the option of the arrows on top and bottom, along with the scroll tab thing.

Ubuntu :: Can't Scroll In Menus

Aug 27, 2010

When menus in gnome are too long to fit on screen, there appear two arrows in the menu, one at the top and one at the bottom. When I hover over the down arrow, it starts scrolling, but when I then try to click on one of the items, it jumps back to the original position as soon as the cursor leaves the down arrow.

This is very annoying, as I can't reach all entries in for example my preferences menu. Is there a workaround for this?

Ubuntu Installation :: Screen Won't Scroll Down

Feb 28, 2010

I'm trying to install UNR on an Asus Eee PC701SD, and I'm having problems with the scrolling. The screen won't scroll down during the install, which means that the forward and back buttons are hidden, and not accessible. I can move forward with the hot keys, but the very last screen, which has the button "Install", doesn't appear to have a hot key. In case you're wondering how I know this - I saw a screenshot of it How can I get past this problem? Is there a hot key, or is there a way to fix the scrolling?

Ubuntu :: Windows Without Scroll Bars In UNR?

Jun 4, 2010

I am having a problem with Ubuntu Netbook Remix. I couldn't stand the new UI with the huge icons taking up my screen, and the maximize/minimize/close buttons displaced, so I enabled the normal Gnome desktop on my netbook. However, with my tiny screen I am seeing that some windows have lost all of the information, and no scrollbar is present.

For instance, when attempting to change account settings in Mozilla Thunderbird, some of the options would extend beyond the bottom of the windows where "cancel" and "ok" are found, but the window ends and no option to scroll down to the missing information exists. A similar problem happens when I try to make adjustments to some items in system administration.

Ubuntu :: Nautilus - How To Change Colors Used On Scroll Bar

May 29, 2010

In 10.04 Lucid my Nautilus scroll bars are white. The scroll bar slider (the icon that can be moved up and down with the cursor to scroll the window) is the exact same shade of white and the slider outline is pale grey. The lack of color contrast makes the slider hard to see. Is there a preference item somewhere that lets me change this color scheme?

I expected to find it in System >> Preferences >> Appearance >> Theme but I don't think there's anything there about the scroll bars. I think my monitor might be more contrasty than most, which is probably exacerbating the problem, but this is what I have to work with. I would rather fix it by changing a system setting than replacing the monitor.

Ubuntu :: Scroll Click Stop Working / What To Do?

Jul 4, 2010

Until yesterday, I used the scroll key, middle click, to open/close tabs at Firfox and chrome, today for some reason is not working any more.

I can roll pages up and down, but at Firefox and chrome i cant open/close the tabs with scroll/middle click.

I checked online and the only fix I found was the safe mode solution, which I don't know how to do this on Ubuntu.

I reinstall Firefox and chrome but same thing happens.

I think its something at about:config. I mess around with it, tried all combination, seems nothing happened there for me, no reaction at any changes.

Kinda noob at Linux so if you could explain any solution like talking to 5yo kid would be appreciated.

Ubuntu 10.04 and Firefox fully updated.

Ubuntu :: Configure PS/2 Scroll Wheel Mouse?

Jul 7, 2010

When I originally installed 10.04 on a new machine, I was using a temporary PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse. The mouse was a simple two-button mouse. This worked fine. Now, I have moved my Microsoft PS/2 scroll wheel mouse from my previous computer to the new machine, but the scroll wheel does not work. How do I make it work?

I had hoped that Ubuntu would detect my different (new) hardware and configure it for me, but it did not. Googling leads me to xinput, but I can't figure out what to do with that and it indicates it is for 'on the fly' configuration. I want it to be permanently configured. Is there some way to invoke the installation tool again to reinstall the mouse?
