Ubuntu :: Bibtex Style File Missing From Package
May 3, 2011
I'm trying to use a bibtex style file from the texlive-publishing package, but bibtex cant seem to find the .bib file even though I've tried everything from placing it in the same directory to exporting the BST to:
export BSTINPUTS=/usr/share/texmf-texlive/bibtex/bib/IEEEtran/
But bibtex still cant find my file.

Back in the day when I was using openSUSE and KDE3 I really loved the way the menu entries were organized into submenus. (For example: the Multimedia menu used to have the following submenus: Audio, TV, Video, etc.) I've been using neither openSUSE nor KDE3 for more than a year (switched to Arch + KDE4).
Not that I have anything against openSUSE. On the contrary, I think it's a fantastic distro, but the time came when I needed to move on (going rolling release was what finally sold Arch to me). However, I have taken with me many of the things I learned to love on Suse. One of them was the menu's layout, which for me works better that vanilla kde's. What I would like to know is:
1) If that menu layout was something from KDE3 that got lost in the move to KDE4, or something SUSE added.
2) Which Suse package provides the layout (the default menu layout is given by menu files on /etc/xdg). I would like to take a look and copy it to my Arch install.

I'm running Debian squeeze and my packages are all up to date. I usually do my updates by typing 'aptitude update' and 'aptitude safe-upgrade' at the command line as root.Sometimes when doing regular updates aptitude, or the package that's being updated, shows a ncurses-style dialog box on the screen, usually to have the user 'OK' a change, or to select which version of a configuration file to keep. Recently I've found these dialog boxes to be slightly messed up... in that the spot at the bottom where I would expect the 'OK' button to be is replaced by nonsensical characters.
There seems to be no problem with the way that the program functions, as I can press the tab key and then the return key, or just the return key alone, and the dialog goes away, seemingly doing it's job. But I would like to know what this program is. It's likely been updated recently, but looking through /var/log/aptitude and /var/log/aptitude.1.gz I cannot figure out which one it is. I'd like to file a bug report, or simply be able to follow the progress of someone else's bug. That's all.

How to properly integrate these RPMs into our system?
Option 1: we could take those missing OS RPMs and install them?
Option 2: can we package the missing files from missing OS RPMs into the existing Linux-xxx.rpm?

Is there a command to return a recursive listing of sub-directories and the number of files in them? I have found plenty of ways to give me the total number of files in a directory structure, but none that gives a list of the sub-directories with the number of files in them. "du" gives me a listing of directories with their sizes, but I couldn't find an option (or any other way) to give me the number of files as well. Ideally, I'd like to get list with "Size" "Files" "Dir name" - And the order of the columns doesn't matter. Is there a "simple" command line solution or do I need a shell script for that?

Still I am asked to package a war file as an RPM package. That is an unusual RPM packaging(To me). If you guys could guide me I have a war file inside a folder, that folder is inside a tar file as a SOURCE for RPM package. The structure is like below.
[Code]...
I simply want that the war file from sources is transferred to the web app of my tomcat server through RPM. I try to package it as an RPM, but its always giving me errors in %build stage. When I try to remove %build from stage from the spec file, then it says command missing.
My system details are:
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (x86_64)
VERSION = 10
PATCHLEVEL = 1
LSB_VERSION="core-2.0-noarch:core-3.0-noarch:core-2.0-x86_64:core-3.0-x86_64"

find out what packages from Yum will satisfy these two dependencies? I have search and can't seem to find them. I know there are integrated or slipped into some larger package because when I do a fresh install and customize my packageelection to include 'everything', it then installs this RPM with out any issues.

Does anyone know how to find it in .rpm?I need it for compiling the vpnc client with openssl (still wondering why the ssl certification was excluded in the in-built package) because without it I get errors.

I upgraded to the latest -current just like always. I do the kernel packages last. This time, the machine failed to boot, telling me that it could not find the kernel modules. Well, rats.
I booted with a slackware dvd, passed the huge.s kernel, and booted into /dev/sda7, which is my main partition. I mounted /dev/sda7, and installed the kernel-modules-2.6.35.11 pkg. Rebooted, and got the same error?
I booted again with the dvd, mounted the partition, and navigated to /lib/modules - no 2.6.35.11 in there!
How do I get that package to install?

I was trying to setup a cross-platform development environment with qt, an thus looked for the qt-sdk package I used to install on my 32-bit machine.This package appears to have been deleted from 64-bit ubuntu maverick, but I do not understand the details...
- Has this package been renamed, or is there another one in place of it?
- Is this package going to be available again in the future?
PS: I am aware that one can install the sdk by downloading the installer, but for unattended install I prefer the apt package...

I Recently set up a dedicated server using CentOS as a new Linux wing of my Web services hosting business. To provision online varios Tucows services (names, blogs etc.) I need to use the Perl API provided by Tucows/OpenSRS. The API requires various extra perl modules including XML::Parser - without which the API will not function.
I was able to add with PPM to my Windows servers no problem but it will not install in CentOS.
As best I can tell the cause may be missing headers and libs for the c compile of Expat - required to build XML::Parser so after days of hunting I found your repository holds package expat-devel which claims to hold libs and headers for Expat similar to libexpat1-dev on other dists. I used YUM with success but although 3 libs were installed no headers were installed.
Is there a reason these headers are not included? I have downloaded them manually but am afraid of breaking something. Is there a reason I should not attempt to install with these headers? Is CentOS capable of using the Parser modules?
