After an afternoon of googling, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only rxvt / elinks user who also wants to copy text from the browser! My problem is thus... rxvt uses Shift-Left-Click to paste, and elinks uses Shift-Left-Click to select. I need a way to either change elinks (preferably without disabling mouse support - which solves the problem BTW) or RXVT. RXVT is on cygwin, and elinks is on archlinux.

Using fluxbox in 13.1. If I select text in rxvt and then click the mouse wheel it pastes the selection at the cursor. But apparently it does not use the clipboard to do this, because if I Ctrl-v into another app, say jedit, it doesnt paste the rxvt selection, it pastes the last thing that was put on the clipboard. Is there any way to get rxvt to use the clipboard?

I am able to access XP shared folders through my netbook(linux). However, i wanted to copy files from XP infact folders using TERMINAL in my netbook, not copy and paste using my mouse. View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't copy & paste text from an Evolution email message without first pasting the text into an editor like gedit or a word processor and recopying it a second time... Then it works fine... I thought the problem may have been a Delphi forum specific problem, but it also does the same thing on this board...
I running 10.04 with the default Evolution mail program.
BTW on Delphi I can turn off the wysiwyg editor and paste as "source" and it works just fine without the paste and recopy step...
I am experiencing an issue where the first time I copy and paste it works fine. But after that it just pastes garble. I've installed glipper and if I clear the clipboard after every copy/paste its fine.
At first I upgraded from 10.04 and this came up so I thought I would just do a clean install of 10.10. It was still happening.
I'm trying to copy paste about 5k lines from a vi text file onto a website but obviously manually selecting the text from my screen and pasting it one page at a time is time consuming so I was wondering if there was an easier way to do this?

I'm using SSH (with -X specified) from a Ubuntu box to a RHEL4 box and running GVim. It opens as expected in my local X, but the copy and paste via select doesn't work. I cannot select text in GVim and paste in a local window, nor can I select text from a local window and paste in GVim. This works, however, when I SSH (with -X specified) to a different RHEL4 box. Is there something I need to install on the remote machine? I am running Parcellite 0.9.2 on the local box, but closing it doesn't make the problem go away, and it is not interfering with the other box.

It looks like my vim doesn't support +clipboard (version 7.0).I'm using Linux Centos 5 so fakeclips doesn't actually help (i think)It's a pain to type stuff manually from firefox to vim or other apps and vice versa.

I can't tell you how many times I have copied some text and went to a new application and Past is greyed out. For example, in Firefox I can highlight some text like "Belmont Diner", then right click and choose "Copy". Then go up to the Google search bar and right click and Paste is not an option. I have tried doing this using Crtl C to copy and Ctrl V to paste. It does not work...most of the time. Every once in a while it will but most of the time it does not. I can repeat the action to make sure I really copied the data and still no luck. Sometimes it works but many times it does not.

Every time I press ctrl c or v the touchpad freezes for a few seconds and the cursor won't move.
I can copy and paste text within a document but can't seem to do so between applications. It just doesn't work.
This problem did not exist on earlier versions of Ubuntu.
Running: 10.04 dual boot on a Dell Latitude D510 with 2gig RAM.
Whenever I try to copy and paste something from Opera to Thunderbird (or FireFox) the copied text does not appear when I select paste. (or control V) My work around is to place the copied text into a empty document, re-highlight, copy and then the paste into Thunderbird will work.

I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop. Now I am organising the structure of maps and folders, etc. My struggle is that I seem to have no permission to copy, paste and move files to another place then the home folder and the desktop.I am a total newby in Ubuntu and coming from a Windows operating system, so please give me some assist. I leave my computer on for many weeks at a time as it is part of a network and others use it to run code on. During this time I am using kate as my text editor, and copy and paste from kate to other applciations, such as the terminal.

1. To go to some place, I click the left mouse key
2. To copy text TO the vim editor, I mark the text first in some other window (browser, emacs, xterm) and then I middle-click (or shift-middle click).
3. To copy text FROM the vim editor, I select the text (left-click, hold down, select text, release left button) and then paste the text to somewhere else via the middle button
4. The same as (3) but TO the vim editor itself.
I have the following content of my .vimrc:
:set number
:set mouse=r
:set selectmode+=mouse
:behave xterm
With that configuration, the points 2-4 are working. When I change mouse=r to mouse=a, then 1 AND 3 is working, where I have to press the shift key in addition to press the middle mouse button. How to enable all pieces 1-4, and at best without having the shift-key pressed down to be able to paste text? How should my .vimrc look like? EMacs is not a solution since I am working remotely over a large distance and the network is not suitable to have an EMacs session opened at the remote pc.
I am using Fedora 14, I need to change the directory of a folder(myweb) from "homeuserdesktop" to "varwwwhtml" . Please give the Fedora commands to do this.
