Software :: Play M4A - Music Codec - Cant Use -f Install Or -f Upgrade Or -f Update
Aug 22, 2010
I want to play M4A, ive downloaded gstreamer, and installed, it said i needed gstreamer multiverse, so i began to get that but then it said
Processing triggers for man-db ...Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/liblame0_3.96.1-1_i386.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) I cant use -f install or -f upgrade or -f update or anything, this is what i get when i use -f install
I have no sound after upgrading to 11.04. Sound control panel and test speakers emits no sound. The new music player won't play sounds from music CDs either.
I need help installing programs again because I am trying to install a win32 codec to play wmv files. I am completely new to linux and I guess I'm fucking up my system because now I can't install anything. Here is the error messages I receive when I try to download Banshee This is a major failure of your software management system. Please check for broken packages with synaptic, check the file permissions and correctness of the file '/etc/apt/sources.list' and reload the software information with: 'sudo apt-get update' and 'sudo apt-get install -f'. The sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get install -f have errors when I enter them as follows
i am a new opensuse user from vietnam. I installed opensuse 11.3 last week, and i have a serious problem with repo. I can't enter it . It's mean i can't update (by update applet), install codec, new software, .
I've searched upon numerous links for a "fix" but they are either for older releases of fedora, or, I was able to make appropriate changes to the F12 KDE4 release such as the F11 how to fix pulseaudio and vlc guide in this forum
Problem: In order to get the sound to play on my system I have to go to PulseAudio Device Chooser and select default server, sink, etc. every login. I thought it was suppose to change it "permanently" , getting more specific here, when ever I play music in vlc I tend notice gaps/skips in my music very short skips .5 to 1 second sometimes 2 - 3, just now I was playing music flipping through some tracks then I am greeted with a nasty sound I cannot describe. Does anyone have a proper fix for this? Only result I came upon I have not tried yet was something with hda intel sound card and power settings, which feel will not work anyway
Here is my sound card: Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) Also not to mention, I use to get pop-ups notifying me of pulseaudio device not being to be found and asked to forget this device
So in trying to install ushare to be able to play my music and videos on my xbox 360, I have apparently screwed something up and now I can't get ushare to work. I can't even get it uninstall and do a fresh install. I used the instructions found here: [URL]. I got down to the basic configuration tool. I entered the name of the media server, which I called Ubuntu_Media_Server. Then I identified my network interface, which was my wireless connection (wlan0). Then I told it what directory to share, which was /home/ryan/music and hit enter.
It did exactly what it was supposed to do which was to restart ushare. And then, oops, I forgot, I wanted to be able to see my videos as well as my music, so I went back and ran the same command that I had to start the configuration tool which was $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure ushare and voila, I went back and added in the directory for the video folder that I wanted to share and hit enter. Again, it restarted as expected then it said permission was denied to the video folder. So I went to the video folder and gave permission for it to be shared. So then in all my illustrious wisdom (which apparently equates to dumbass), I decided to completely uninstall ushare and do a fresh install. Then it wouldn't reinstall, same problem permission denied for the video file.
I would have never thought something so simple could be so difficult. I am trying to install the mp3 codecs for rhythm box music player and I can't find the commands to do so online or anywhere. I did this no problem in fedora 12. I just don't know where to look for Mandriva how to's. Would I just update the gstreamer plugins to get the mp3's to work?
Here's a plugin that lets VLC from wheezy-backports play h.265 content. I packaged it for the MEPIS 12 repo, but it should work on wheezy. [URL] ....
Or create your own packages against Debian's stock VLC 2.0.3, that might work.
You need to install the libde265 package first, then the plugin package.
You can use the static ffmpeg binaries from ffmpeg.org to encode to that h.265 (hevc) codec, but it will take quite a while.
Code: Select all./ffmpeg -i [inputfile] -vcodec hevc [outputfile] Try mp4 or mkv for the output file extension.
The good news is that it will create video of the same quality that is half the size of a comparable h.264 file. This is handy for putting movies on space-limited storage, such as on a phone or tablet. I do know that MX Player on Android can play h.265 video.
I have downloaded a movie (avi) file via utorrent. Download has been complete. On trying to play the movie via VLC and Divx, what comes up is ' Codec is missing please download and install from [URL]. on going on this site i get what looks like an analysis. on reading it i see highlighted in the category SOA the information says SOA Expire 5 weeks..How do I update this or even what file exactly should I look for when uploading a movie via torrent..
I used vlc to play some videos, than I was playing with programs and I install ffmpeg and kino. Now vlc doesn't play avi files with the motion jpec codec. All that I see now is a green screen and I can hear the audio. Everything else is fine, I can play those videos with Movie Player. I'm using debian squeeze.
I installed Fedora 10 on a Toshiba Laptop, where I had been successfully running Ubuntu for over a year. The newest iteration of Ubuntu was giving me problems, and the press was saying that Fedora 10 was pretty good, so I tried it.
Fedora 10 froze after any application was loaded. I couldnt correct it. I installed Fedora 9, and am no longer having that problem. However, I cant run any multimedia items on the computer. Particularly videos, including wmv, mpeg, or rm formats. This was not a problem in Ubuntu. I can't find any player or codec that will allow me to play these videos on Fedora 9. Can anyone suggest a solution for this?

I want to listen to this audio file: [URL] but my real player 11.0.0.4028 gold desn play it, it says that there is a codec 28_8 missing, I go to relaplayer page, download the last release available for linux systems, but the message is the same : audio codec missing and doesn't play the audio.
I havev tried to play the audio with smplayer (not luck), vlc can play the audio but the pause button doesn't work so I have to listen the entire audio all the time I stop it playing. Is there any audio player capable od reproducing in the proper way this audio in ubuntu? No one of my video players totem, smplayer, realplayer or vlc are capable of playing this video: [URL]
My problem is, KQ, a game from the repos, won't let me enable it's sound. I know the audio files in it's directory aren't corrupted, because I've played them, and they play fine! The files are in /usr/share/games/kq/music if anyone was gonna ask that. It's not a HUGE problem, it's just a simple thing that I'd like to work. I've used Ubuntu since 8.04.1 (but i'm still kinda a no0b, XD) and I'm using Lucid Lynx,
I am trying to get rythmbox to play my music. I used the yum install from the thread [URL].. It installed the gstreamer, however when I attempt to play music it doesn't unfortunately. Any comments on something simple I am missing or is there some other yum syntax I can use that can take care of this?
I am running FC13 (Goddard) on my netbook, and it's impossible to play my mp3 files on all of the sound audio applications like totem and rhythm box because the system keeps complaining about plugins that I can't find on any repository.
I'm having a problem playing music in Amarok 2.3, although it worked fine in Amarok 2.0 and still works fine in Amarok 1.4 which I can still run.
Firstly, when I start Amarok 2.3, it displays an error message saying that no support for MP3 files is installed, and asks if I would like to install it now. It then says that support for MP3 has been successfully installed. But when I try to play a track, nothing happens, nothing. It doesn't even try to play it.
I have another thread here, regarding multimedia settings: Multimedia - Cannot load library /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_phonon.so - openSUSE Forums, but not sure if it is related.
I have installed ubunto on an old PC with minimal hardware resources. I cannot play or even see a music cd. I go to places-computer- and see the floppy drive, files system hard drive, and the cd drive. When I insert the music cd the cd drive disappears. It sees a data cd just fine.
