Software :: Make The Mouse Wheel Switch Work Spaces In Compiz?

I recently installed Linux Mint 8, which is an amazing distribution.I can get everything to work perfect, but I cannot figure out how to make the mouse wheel change desktops in compiz. Also, make sure that it only changes desktops when the mouse is over an empty desktop because I got it working once but the mouse wheel would change desktops all the time, even when I was trying to scroll through a webpage or document.
The wheel on my PS2 wheel mouse does not work. When I use the USB port using an adapter, it works fine. The wheel works with Puppy Linux, so I know the hardware is fine.
How do i make VLC jump forward or back using the mouse wheel regardless of where i have the mouse cursor in the window? I went to preferences and changed the hotkey to 'short forward jump' to mouse wheel forward, but nothing seems to happen when i press the forward button.
I just installed kubuntu 9.10 on my new PC (HP Pavillion). I'm new to ubuntu, I had some experience before with mandriva.Most things work properly but there is a strange problem with the mouse (USB), and more precisely with that little wheel which stands between the two buttons. Turning it when the pointer is on some web page (using firefox) I expect the page to scroll. So I turn the wheel in one direction and the page scroll up. Good!I tried with other programs (konqueror, kmail)... and still the same happens, I can only scroll to the top.
I am using a netbook low on computer power. I don't have compiz installed and I don't want it.But I want to be able to switch between applications using the mouse.Expose style would be great but performance is paramount so if they were just icons or something that would be fine. is it possible to use the mouse to trigger alt-tab?(my netbook is often hooked up to my TV so keyboard is not always in reach)In Kubuntu I just had to move the pointer to the top left corner of the screen and an expose style effect would happen. But I believe that was compiz and I have moved to Ubuntu and found it much snappier.
started out with Ubuntu 10.10, and loved the screen magnification system, windows key / mouse wheel.is this feature avil in 11.04, and how do I turn it on and set it up to work like 10.10?
I'm having trouble getting compiz to work on my Laptop. It worked for a while and then I turned on Shift Switcher and a message popped up saying..."The new value for the button binding for the action Terminate in plugin Shift Switcher conflicts with the action Zoom Window of the Scale Addons plugin. Do you wish to disable Zoom Window in the Scale Addons plugin?" I was given the option of Set Terminate anyway, Don't set Terminate, and Disable Zoom Window. I clicked Don't set Terminate and ever since the only thing that works in compiz are the bindings in the general options. I've used synaptic to completely remove and then reinstall compiz but the problem persist. Something else weird, all of the changes I made are still there, even after complete removal, but they don't work?
I have been facing this inconvenience since the first days of my life in Ubuntu, but never thought of any solution to it. Today, while reading a long page of icle in Mozilla Firefox, I badly felt the necessity of scrolling down and up using my mouse's wheel. But it isn't activated by default. I've heard that there is some technique to get this working
I just installed Ubuntu for the first time in a couple of years, and I'm having a problem with my mouse wheel scrolling about a half a page with every click of the mouse wheel. I never had that trouble in the past.In Firefox, I changed the correct settings inmousewheel.withnokey so that it should only scroll one line and I set the option to use the system settings to false. It still scrolls about a half a page at a time.
It's not just Firefox, it's everything, including LibreOffice, and everything else that uses a scroll wheel. I have installed Xubuntu-Desktop and also Kubuntu-Desktop. I noticed in Unity and Xfce, there are no settings for how many lines the mouse wheel scrolls. In KDE, there actually is a setting. I set it to one line, and it didn't change anything. I opened up a document in LibreOffice, and it still scrolls almost a whole page with one click of the wheel. Firefox still scrolls about a half a page.
I just finished installing 10.04. When I use the mouse wheel to scroll up, Firefox loads previous pages in my history. I had the same problem in 9.10. I've searched through the net looking for solutions. Most solutions talk about adjusting mousewheel.withnokey options. However, everything I try doesn't stop it from loading previous pages when using the mouse wheel to scroll up. My current settings are as follows:
Using the mouse wheel to scroll down works fine. It's only when scrolling up. Has anyone else experienced this problem. I'm using a Microsoft Optical Intellimouse
When I originally installed 10.04 on a new machine, I was using a temporary PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse. The mouse was a simple two-button mouse. This worked fine. Now, I have moved my Microsoft PS/2 scroll wheel mouse from my previous computer to the new machine, but the scroll wheel does not work. How do I make it work?
I had hoped that Ubuntu would detect my different (new) hardware and configure it for me, but it did not. Googling leads me to xinput, but I can't figure out what to do with that and it indicates it is for 'on the fly' configuration. I want it to be permanently configured. Is there some way to invoke the installation tool again to reinstall the mouse?
i was wondering if there's an easier way to scroll my screens without having to press 3 keys (ctrl alt -> or <-)i would rather do it with alt+ mouse scroll
I use an MS mouse/keyboard combo model 6000 (ver. 2) and for the most part they work great, that is except for a problem with the mouse wheel scrolling through the desktops if the cursor is on a desktop.If the cursor is in/on a window it scrolls through the window as normal.t also scrolls through the desktops if I "side click" the mouse wheel as well. I've run sax2 and the mouse moduledoesn't even appear but my Wacom tablet settings do. Very perplexing to say the least.
In Linux or Mac OS X, every window I hover over registers mouse wheel events without being the focused window. For instance I can have two windows open at the same time and scroll in each one of them without clicking either of them first.Can this behaviour somehow be translated to Windows? Is there a tool or a hidden preference that I can set?
Everything worked fine with Jaunty 9.04, but I haven't had any luck getting the "cube" to rotate using the mouse wheel since I upgraded to Karmic 9.10. The other ways to rotate the cube still work with karmic. Note that I upgraded from jaunty to karmic...not a clean install. Viewport switcher and rotate cube are both enabled.
I have recently acquired "3RVX" for my windows gaming rig and have fallen in love with the fast, customizable volume adjustment offered by holding the windows key (or "super") and rolling the mouse wheel.
I just installed Ubuntu 10.04, and the speed of the scroll wheel is much too fast.It's so fast it's annoying and impossible to work with.I don't see any option which controls the scroll wheel speed.
I'm working with Ubuntu 10.04 x64 + Asus 1201N + Media-Tech MD1083 RELOADED bluetooth mouse. Gnome Bluetooth Applet has setup mouse perfectly except scrolling. Even back&forward buttons seem to work fine but the scroll wheel does not work at all.
In "xev" I can see that scrolling does not produce any events.
My mouse wheel stopped working after a package manager update.I'm still running 8.04 (yeah, yeah, I know, will be updating soon). I can't seem to find a "package manager update history" so I can see what got updated when I did that just today (changes can't be more than 24h old).I tried rebooting/cold boot just in case.I check xorg.cfg, but it hasn't changed since march of 2008, so I figure nothing overrode the config.
After an amazing ordeal with drivers, terminals, and command-line codes, I finally found an ethernet cable that plugged in correctly, installed the drivers, and now I have wireless! Yahoo!
Now, about another problem...
The mouse scroll wheel speed/line skipping is way too fast. It skips half the page in one scroll! Is there a menu (like Windows) that lets you customize this?
In technical terms, it's a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 with BlueTrack technology.
In Kwrite,Kate or KDE itself ,my USB 5 Button Mouse works fine, But in Dolphin, Chrome or Konqueror ,the "Mouse wheel scolls by..." in "system settings" didn't work, Dolphin scolls by itself, not 1 line or two lines...I'm eagering to know why these happend and if there are some way to force the mouse scoll lines
I'm installed 64-bit openSUSE 11.4 with GNOME. I have a DELL mouse with middle wheel. How do I configure the lines the wheel scrolls? By default it is about 1-2 lines. I need more.
I searched many places. Seems only KDE supports this settings. I also digged up VertScrollDelta in xorg.conf, but the latter is not used currently (not exists in /etc/X11/).
