Aug 31, 2010Is it necessary to specify -playlist to mplayer when playing internet streams? Shouldn't it know from the file extension (assuming there is one)?

Sep 14, 2009I just for the first time tried to play audio files on a CentOS 5.3 machine, but I noticed there is no xmms installed, and xmms doesn't seem to be available via yum either.
So, what is the easiest way of listening to mp3 files in CentOS 5.3 these days? Actually, I just want to be able to play music streams from an internet radio station.

eth0 = wan
eth1 = lan
eth2 = iptv (multicast)
When I have my IPTV inserted in the computer I am either having problems connecting to the internet or recieve the multicast streams from the iptv. I do get a valid ip on both the WAN and IPTV, but I am having problems getting them both to work at the same time.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Amarok With Phonon Gstreamer Backend Cannot Play Internet Streams.

I am on Kubuntu Natty 11.04 64 bit.
I try to play some internet streams but when gstreamer is used as the phonon backend, Amarok never plays them. With Xine or VLC backend looks like I have no problems...

In Ubuntu I've downloaded Amarok, MPlayer, Rhythm box, Streamtuner, & VLC, but am not going to live long enough to figure out how to stream with any of them (although "S os melhores" plays OK). how to stream this & any other WMP station. No problem with Flash stations such as [URL] by the way.

I've tried add/remove software, and it said "package download failed, check internet connection" which doesn't make sense because I'm connected to the internet and my connection is fine. General :: Why Can I Watch It With Gnome-mplayer But Not With Mplayer?
Mar 3, 2011This should be a very elementary question. I have a URL like http://SERVERNAME/file.wmv. When I enter it in "Open Location" in gnome-mpLayer it connects to the server and plays the stream. But when I run
mplayer "URL"
in the terminal I get a crazy endless loop of

I think my usage of mplayer in the terminal is correct, since I can watch other URL's.It's only this specific one that doesn't work (I am not authorized to write the URL because they want it to be private.So my question is: Does anyone know why I get this loop? Or is it possible to see how mplayer is called by gnome-mplayer and what output messages it generates?I use gnome-mplayer 0.9.9.2 and mplayer 1.0rc4-4.4.5 on Ubuntu 10.10.

May 1, 2010I searched and found threads recommending mozilla-mplayer plugin in the synaptic packet thingymejig. Couldn't find it there myself and although I found a mplayer plugin in the other Ubuntu software library installation program, it didn't allow me to install it (there wasn't an install button!).
So is there a recommended way of getting Firefox to show mms streams?

Feb 18, 2011[URL].. is a TV player client,allowing connection to several international news streams(video/audio) from around the world. it is available for Linux, Mac as well as pervasive game systems. ran ok in 10.3 but seg faults in 11.3..after manually tinkering with its audio setup in ~/.openalrc it runs good here until the seg fault...sometime it runs five minutes,sometimes 25 minutes or more...i have been unable to detect the triggering event..started by executing 'livestation' in an open terminal always results(eventually) in "Segmentation fault" and nothing else as the client disappears..anyone else seen this?or, running with no problems?

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Banshee And Mmsh Streams ?
Dec 19, 2009Hi! This is my first post here, I'm back to openSUSE since the last version I used 10.1 and I'm really enjoying using 11.2 so far .
Banshee (or totem) can't play mmsh streams. I have packman repositorie activated and have installed all gstreammer plugins plus ffmeg and ffmpeg related gstreamer plugins and libmms0.
I can play mp3, xvid and other formats, but these streams are the only thing that does not work.

Aug 19, 2010i am trying to use Audacity to record internally the sound playing on my computer, and im finding the program quite confusing. I have found that by connecting the line out to the line in i am able to record, but the quality is rubbish, it will be a lot smoother recording it internally but I cant find a way of doing this, does anyone know how to record that way or know where i'm going wrong?

Ubuntu :: Online Radio Streams Stop After 25 Mins
Oct 18, 2010I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, and so far I'm digging it a lot more than 10.04 (had annoying sound issues then), but I have a mild issue with playing online radio streaming through either FireFox or Chrome.
After about 25 minutes or so, the audio will just stop, I then have to click on my radio channel to get it back up again. Kind of annoying. I assume this is some sort of plugin or keep alive issue?

Feb 6, 2011I'm looking for a program of some kind that I can combine 4 (if not 2 minimum) streams of video into one file. The only program so far that I've found that does this is avisynth but I can't seem to make it work at all. Does it even work under ubuntu? I've tried numerous guides and how to's but nothing seems to be working.
Basically I just need something that will take a video file, from several different sources (cameras placed around a car) and be able to place them in a grid form into one file. Basically in a format like this, where each letter is a different video file:
