View 3 RepliesI am trying to use 'convert' in command prompt to convert image file format.I get the following error.
convert: UnableToOpenConfigureFile `delegates.xml' @ configure.c/GetConfigureOptions/589.
convert: NoDecodeDelegateForThisImageFormat `airplane.jpg' @ constitute.c/ReadImage/530.

Is there anyway to convert standard output to html ?
for example I wanna convert a colored file like this:

I have 2 GB of html files and i need to convert all of them at once to text files. Is there any way that I can do it. Converting each of them manually is really a pain and I want to convert all of them with a single command to text files.

I am having problems with the background not being visible, not moving as expected, the airplane not being visible, and just disappointment in general.I think the background of a div will not be visible if there are no internal contents because it will be sized to zero. So I introduced another transparent image to force the size of the main div. Still no joy. Here is my code. Note that I don't have my timers set up yet, just a button to test background movement.

I don't how long is has been happening for (I've just upgraded my old computer, so it is now my faster and better machinig), but Nautilus is failing to create thumbnails for anything other than text files.
I've swapped the settings around to try to trigger changes, but even on "Local only" or "Always" with a 10MB cap then Nautilus won't generate previews for anything other than text files. All images/videos/pdfs/web pages that should have thumbnails generated for them have the "pending" icon but never generate a thumbnail. If, however, I open the file (with Eye of Gnome or Gimp) and refresh the folder then the thumbnail appears for the one file I just opened (so I could go through and preview all images, but I'd really rather not!)
I've tried removing/renaming my .local/share/mime folder in case it was incorrectly handling file types, but that didn't help. I've looked in gconf at the thumbnailer apps, but that appears to be for everything except images. Running "evince-thumbnailer" on its own works fine as well and generates an image. There aren't any related errors in .xsession-errors, and I don't know where else Nautilus logs to (running "nautilus --browser" creates a browser window but then drops back to the command line and doesn't print any output).
I'm using openSUSE 11.2 and the default Gnome, with codecs from Packman. A fairly similar setup on my other machine is thumbnailing perfectly fine.
I am using Okular as a chm reader (I know how to use extract_chmlib and htmldoc.. but with those two I can only make HTML-only documents and not image attachments..)and it just happens so I would like my machine to read the text... i have both festival and espeak installed (as well some gnome-based plug-ins)... But I just can't get Okular to speak.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of disk images, made with ddrescue, on an EXT partition, and I want to reduce their size without losing data, while still being mountable. How can I fill the empty space in the image's filesystem with zeros, and then convert the file into a sparse file so this empty space is not actually stored on disk?
For example:
> du -s --si --apparent-size Jimage.image
120G Jimage.image
> du -s --si Jimage.image
121G Jimage.image
This actually only has 50G of real data on it, though, so the second measurement should be much smaller.
This supposedly will fill empty space with zeros: cat /dev/zero > zero.file rm zero.file But if sparse files are handled transparently, it might actually create a sparse file without writing anything to the virtual disk, ironically preventing me from turning the virtual disk image into a sparse file itself. :) Does it? Note: For some reason, sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=./zero.file works when cat does not on a mounted disk image.
I have a number of uncompressed audio files recorded off of an analog (POTS) telephone line of fax transmissions. Is there a Linux utility or library I could use to convert these files into images of the fax they contain? I'm not looking to send/receive a fax via a modem, but just to "replay" the communications tones and parse out the fax message.I'm guessing this may not be possible due to duplex issues and not knowing which end of the conversation is sending what, but thought I'd ask to see if anyone knew of something.

I want to set it as my wallpaper. I have already written the bash script to download it and drop it into my wallpaper directory, and I'm using kcron to update my wallpaper. Here's my problem. That URL yields an image, but I can't figure out how to convert that image to a usable file format. It's OTF generated, so unlike other sites that have a format like .../image.jpg, this URL isn't playing nice.
