I was playing with kde, system tray and widgets. Now all system tray is gone, even if I add it I can not change its size etc. Also my other visual features have changed accidently as well. Plus I can not retrieve workspace icon (4 small windows). I want to return kde to its default setting, like first time.Dist is Slackware 13.0 64bit and Kde 4.0

so I installed openSUSE 11.3 KDE and fooled around with it and the Plasma Netbook Workspaces and am now back with the regular KDE. Unfortunately something I have done has now caused me to not be able to do simple tings like change the wallpaper, or add Widgets to the desktop. Everything seems to "technically" work, so I suspect that it was a configuration somewhere that I messed up.
Is there a directory or directories I can delete and then log out and back in which will create the environment with default settings? I've done this with Gnome and Xfce when I've really messed it up and it has fixed things a number of times, but I am not sure where KDE stores their config files. I believe is it openSUSE 11.3 with the KDE version that came with it and it was installed from a LiveCD.
Is there any way to return default theme, in 9.10? because i have installed full mac theme and i really messed everything up, but now i'm bored, so is there any way restore everything easy?

View 2 Replies View RelatedClient which uses an ISP with a Linux machine (Server 1) with two network cards. Eth0 with ip 1.1.1.2 and gateway 1.1.1.1 these ip's is not public ip's and falls unders the isp's internal range, eth1 with the internal ip range. OpenVPN listen on eth0 for incoming connections. We want to connect to Server1 from external networks. Due to different reasons the isp could not get the routing sorted and give us an public ip on his network. We had to setup another bos (Server2) with eth0 2.2.2.5 and gateway 2.2.2.1 which is public ip's and eth1 with ip 3.3.3.5. Server 2 can communicate via the ISP internal network with server 1. I use DNAT to forward all incoming connections on server 2 to server 1 but the problem I have is that server uses its default gateway for the return packages and does not sent the reply back to server 2. My iptables rules looks as follows on server 2.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have already had Vista installed on another drive and from what i've read on the webs you get to dualboot if you install ubuntu after vista. when i did install it (i installed on a blank hdd with no partitions, choosing the "erase entire disk" option since for some reason default option was attempting to eat a part of my windows 1 gb drive instead of using disk i specially made for it) and the grub 2 loaded for the first time, there was NO option to run vista. only 2 linux (normal and recovery) and 2 memtests. I've ran linux and went to google this. I found that i should add something to some config files in /etc/grub.d/From reading the readme file i understood i could add my own files that are named like NUMBER_SOMENAME and insert code into them. i am having two small issues with a function i have made.sorry if it is a mess, i am still learning bash.the first is calling the nonpersistssh function (second line) and assigning the return value to nonpersistdiag.the function returns 1, but nonpersistdiag seems to only contain 0. i am unsure on how to proceed.the second problem is the nested else clause on line 10. it is a syntactical error. how would i declare it correctly?

ok, I pressed alt-ctrl-f1 and it displayed my screen with a gui. I then pressed alt-ctrl-f2 and it displayed a textual desktop. I pressed alt-ctrl-f3 and it displayed the same thing. When I pressed alt-ctrl-f1 to return to my gui, it would not let me return to a gui. I was stuck in a cmd line textual desktop.
How, without restarting, do i return to a gui once I press alt-ctrl-f2??

Depending on wether the shell is a login shell, a regular shell, or a screen utility, I get different results.
I upgraded to 4.4.3 from 4.4.2 this morning from AlienBob's packages (although I see they are now part of -current, but the mirrors are still behind) and I can no longer return from suspend on my laptop. I get a black screen with a mouse pointer that moves freely but it does not bring up my desktop. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace will bring me back to the console as it should, but this is a huge step backward. A few times I got a message about a new screen being detected after resuming but now it's just blank. I am running an intel onboard graphics card on an Asus laptop.

while looking for my installation disc, my wall-mate gives me this Ubuntu Studio dvd and instead of downloading a new one, i have installed the studio. at the first sight ... i am being a fond of studio version .. its really cool.
now, i am quite habituated with default appearance of ubuntu, i found studio appearance is quite unusual (for me, menu layouts, panel everything).
I would like to know how do i change this default appearance like ubuntu default 10.04 appearance. I am attaching a screen-shoot of my friends desktop, he upgraded his ubuntu thru apptitude update.

I used to be able to log into any one of the seven TTYs.
CTRL-ALT F1-six all work fine. Problem is if I log into one I can't get back to the GUI.
Immediately after the upgrade, I was told by some people that this was deprecated along with startx and I should use sudo gdm service start instead.
This doesn't work for me If I have to open a terminal when a nasty game freezes and I have to kill it from a terminal.

i made upgrade(not distro) on my ubuntu 10.10. i took very long but i was not concerned. However i opened my laptop again it could not boot normally. Therefore i ran in recovery mode in failsafe graphic it stopped at "running scriptss in rc2.d/ took 2 seconds". I safe my important file from command window in recovery mode but i can not return back my system.
