Software :: Openoffice Calc Not Running MS Excel Macros
Oct 18, 2010
I prepare an MS Excel 2007 spreadsheet which includes macros and user defined functions on a Windows machine. I transfer that file to a Mandriva 2010 machine and I load the file with OpenOffice Calc 3.2.0 and it runs the macros properly. I transfer the file to a Fedora 13 machine and I load the file with OpenOffice Calc 3.2.0 but it doesn't run the macros. I set "Tools/Options/Security - Macro Security" to Low in both cases.I am very new to OpenOffice - is there any other setting of which I am not aware?
Imported an Excel file into OO.o Calc. EVerything is fine except the comments are all blank. It knows that comments should be there, but they're all empty. how to recover the contents?
I'm using OpenOffice from repo. In Calc I want to fill in 2 cells under eachother, consisting of a name, space and a digit. Then, after selecting both cells, drag them down to get a list of this name, with only the digits being different. When using OpenOffice from original download, this gave no problem. Now however, I'm presented with a Fill Series window that gives me some options like Direction, Series type, etc. And whatever I fill in, it says nvald value. How can I get rid of this Fill Series window. The Help function in OpenOffice doesn't give a clue on Fill Series.
In OpenOffice spreadsheet, using the Page break preview you should be able to move the thick lines that indicate the separation between pages. Some versions ago you could do it normally. But now it's impossible. You can just move the thick line that indicates the limit of the print area.Has anybody noticed this? Is there any solution? In Ooo for Windoze it's possible, but I prefer not to use it unless is absolutely necessary.
I've got a CD which does the monthly compounding on the last day of every month instead of every 30 days. The bank gave me a print-out (of course), but I'd like to make my own Calc spreadsheet too. My question is: How do I check whether a certain day is the last day of the month? In other words, I'm looking for something that returns TRUE if it's the last day of the month and FALSE if it isn't. I'm using OpenOffice.org 2.4.1 on Ubuntu 8.10.
you are using Calc to hold data, and you have a column of surnames. You enter True and it turns into TRUE: OO has decided you wanted a Boolean. Similarly, you enter a date as 12 Jan 09: it may appear in that format, but you can't search for Jan 09, only for 01/09. Is there any way one can set the data type of a cell as text, or prevent OO from carrying out unwanted type conversions? I suspect the answer will be no; I can't find anything in the pages, and I suspect the developers would say I should be using Base. Well, I don't want to use Base: I want my data displayed spread-sheet style There is a solution: to insert non-breaking spaces in dates and after words like "true", but it would be nice if the problem could be fixed just once.
My nephew dropped in today hoping I could print off some large Excel files. When I opened them in Office Spreadsheet I could see that each cell had a series of dots in it, similar to full stops (periods). These dots even occurred in cells that already contained text or numbers. Evenly spaced horizontally and vertically as if marking the corners of squares and regardless of the row height or column width. This wouldn't look good on a print out and being as he wanted them for a new job we booted up a Windows machine and took the printout from there. It turned out the page was intended to print to an A3 sheet whilst my available printers are all A4.
Later I reloaded these files into OpenOffice (3.2.0) because I was niggled about OpenOffice perhaps not achieving a decent performance against Excel, and printed off a couple of pages. The printout showed no sign of the dots, which is fine, but what about these dots that show up on the Spreadsheet page.
A bit more on this is that they show up in Preview in Web browser but not in Page preview. Any corrections on this admittedly trivial problem or do we just live with it?
What is the macro command (in OpenOffice Basic) to select an entire Row or Column? I tried to "Record Macro", then click on the Row/Column header, which would then select the entire row/column. But "Record Macro" failed to capture this action.
I am trying enter a VLOOKUP formula in Sheet1, where the array is in Sheet2. For both the items, I have used mouse to enter cell references, which I always do.
1. Search criterion has been entered as a range, which is different from previous versions and not a very comfortable situation.
2. array reference completely missed entering Sheet2! in front of A1:C13. Only way out of this is manually entering the sheet name, which is not only cumbersome but also ludicrous. Moreover, we never had to do it like this in the past. I am using OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 in Ubuntu 10.10.
I just upgraded to OOo v3.3.0, but it feels more like a downgrade; a real disappointment. In my previous version, I could choose 'Tab' in the 'Paste special' dialog and the choice would stick between pastings as well as between sessions. No longer so. In v3.3.0 I have to tick 'Tab' and 'Detect special numbers' each and every time I paste something. I am working with OOo all day and this regression is tiresome, to say the least. So, I am wondering whether there is a way to make the choices sticky? If not, I shall have to go back to the previous version, or perhaps try out LibreOffice.
I have a Canon iR3570/iR4570 PXL, and installed the driver CQue 1.0 TCP/IP Queue from Canon webpage.
The problem: - if i try to print an OpenOffice or LibreOffice Calc with an image and text, the image is not printed (the space is blank). - if i try to print an OpenOffice or LibreOffice Calc with just an image, it's printed great. - if i try to print an OpenOffice or LibreOffice Impress, the images are not printed but the text is printed great.
If I have say, a column of Months, eg. "January", "February" etc., with a "income" column to the right of it, for say, 6 months - eg. "423", "2342", if I highlight some or all of the months and Sort it, I would like the "income" column values to move up and down as well- eg. if the months become "February", then "January", I would like to see the corresponding change in the "income" column as well, eg. first "2342", THEN "423". I would like this even if I say, Manually move the "months" column data around, eg. put "February" at the bottom.
I need to know if I can easily transfer powerpoint files from an old microsoft computer to my now linux computer and run them w/o difficulty in OpenOffice Presentation I looked on google but couldn't find a definite answer. The same question for all my microsoft office files and converting and running them in my linux OpenOffice programs.
I am running Suse 11.3 64bit and OpenOffice 3.2.1.4 it installed with the system.OpenOffice's latest is 3.3 something, is there a repository that I can add to continuously update the program? Or do I need to completely remove the present program and install the latest from OpenOffice.org? It would appear that the one that came with the system was pieced together by the Suse team - do they update this at all?
It seems GDB can not expand or show the macro expansion or its definition under the GDB debug to while debugging the program. how to debug macros under GDB?
I am trying to use the 'autoconf' command and I keep getting an error message saying I need to have xorg-macros 1.3 or later. I have downloaded both 1.4 and 1.6.0 and tried to install them. Apparently all to no avail, because when I run the autoconf script it comes back as saying I only have 1.2.2 installed. Where do I start looking to figure out what I am screwing up?When I run the configure script in the util-macros-1.6.0 it seems to run right. Then I run make and it says "nothing to do for 'all'". Then I run 'make install' and it seems to run that but apparently it isn't getting installed.
Here is the output of ./configure;make;make install linux-y52a:/home/alton/Download/util-macros-1.6.0 # ./configure;make;make install checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
I've installed jEdit following instructions here [URL]... In trying to record a macro Macros > Record Macro I can see "Macro recording" message in status bar but no macro code is generated and no macro can be run. on getting macros to work in jEdit?
Is there any application which can fulfil keybaord macros which I set?I need something which can press DOWN, DOWN, DOWN, DOWN, SHIFT+UP, SHIFT+UP, SHIFT+UP, BACKSPACE. And then repeat that cycle for a long period of time.
I would like to call some firefox macros from bash so that I can manipulate them in some scripts. Does anyone know how to do that?Currently I'm using the imacros firefox add-in
I am using LibreOffice under Ubuntu 10.10 and Windows XP, and trying to record some macros. I can find no documentation with for recording macros. There are some forum threads of individuals, but the replies all recommend external programs. LibreOffice has its own macro recorder, doesn't it? It is on the Tools menu, as in previous versions of OpenOffice, but "record macro" is blanked out. Is this because LibreOffice 3 can't do macros? I have no idea why an external program should be needed.
I am currently using Syslog-NG to make the log files in the format of: $R_YEAR$R_MONTH$R_DAY$R_HOUR and I need to be a little more granular.
I am wondering if there is a way to to divide the hour by 12, making a new log file every 5 minutes. We have been using LogRotate, but when Syslog-NG is restarted we have some data loss. Is this possible? Another solution I can think of would be to add $R_MINUTE (or whatever it is) and run a cron job every 5 minutes to concatenate the files.
I switched from 11.1 to 11.2 last month. I'm now having a smoother experience with openSUSE, with some exceptions.
One is Emacs. A rather annoying "feature" that has appeared is the following: When editing a LaTeX file, compiling it (C-c C-c, using AucTeX macros) makes the Emacs window become shorter by one line. The same happens if I switch to some other buffer. It does not happen if I switch back to the LaTeX buffer. So, after just a few editing/compiling/checking errors sequences I find the original window half of its initial size...
A similar problem occurs when editing IDLWAVE scripts (it's a proprietary scientific data analysis language widely used in my field, but still has its Emacs macros), but only if I open an interactive IDL-shell to run the script.
So, I imagine it's not a problem related to AucTeX, although it might be related to the macros opening separate buffers/windows (e.g.: error messages) associated with the current buffer. Also, the problem does not go away if I remove my own .emacs customization files. Checking the Emacs bug lists, it seems that there are some bugs related to window resizing, although I have not been able to find exactly the same problem I am having. But, before reporting this one, I'd like to hear from fellow Emacs/openSUSE users. Just in case I'm messing things up somehow.
Currently using: Emacs v 23.1.1 Some more info: Dell Precision M65 portable workstation, NVIDIA Quadro FX1500 using the binary NVIDIA driver). Using OpenSuse 11.2 + KDE 4.3.1
Although I am new to Fedora/Linux I hope to contribute to the community once I'm on my feet with the OS.I am trying to update the graphics driver (Intel), so I downloaded the file, realized I needed to update libdrm, downloaded that, too, and am now on the step of installing libdrm 2.4.23.I am at the step of typing 'make install' on the command line, and get this error message:libtool: Version mismatch eror. This is libtool 2.2.6b Debian Debian-2.2.6b-2, but the definition of this LT_INIT comes from libtool 2.2.10. You should recreate aclocal.m4 with macros from libtool 2.2.6b Debian-2.2.6b-2 and run autoconf again. It appears that I have a newer version of libtools than is needed. How do I recreate aclocal.m4 with macros from an older libtool version, specifically 2.2.6b Debian-2.2.6b-2? Or is the problem with LT_INIT?
I',m having trouble running the zotero openoffice integration plugin in F13 under the openjdk plugin. It's known top be not working as per The problem lies in some permissions as reported here -fedora-linux/However i want to know if there's any progress on it, since i dont have privilege to install it in my lab computer. Also i found this old bug reportwhich seems to have something done.If anypone has any idea please post, else i think i need to file a new bug report.EDIT: I'd be glad even if someone can guide me to write local policy (.java.policy) to enable the plugin
I'm trying to install a language-pack for my OpenOffice, but there seems to be a dependency-problem. Maybe someone has a suggestion. FC12, x64 OOo.x64 3.1.1
I have an nfs share that mounts automatically when kde starts.
Code:
wendy@DellNB:~$ cat .kde/Autostart/mountNAS.sh #!/bin/bash mount ~/TestShare #echo "NAS Mounted"
[code]...
Gimp works fine editing and saving photos from/to the nfs share. kWrite can do its thing and read/create files on the NAS. Files I create with vim are visible and editable under windows. OpenOffice however, when I try an open a file I get "file is locked by unknown user." I open as copy and try saving to the share with a different name... No Dice, error saving to share the file is created on the share but it is empty. I did some reading and found a post that said to comment a line from a file called soffice, which I cannot find.
