I have 2 problems:
I'm getting mail that the PC is OK every 3 minutes.
And I don't know what I should config in Service and host .cfg. Sow that I will get a good description of the problem in the mail that Nagios is sending me.
I have a setup with Centos 5.5, Nagios 3.2.3, sendmail 8.13.8. When a insident is happening Nagios notify-by-mail is triggered and Nagios sends via sendmail. Unfortunately there is a trailing $-sign added to the $CONTACTEMAIL. Sendmail cannot mail to xxx@mail.address$
A hack is to insert mailaddress in misccommands.cfg but I would like to have a more clean way.
Nagios has been up and running for quite sometime now and no issues till this month. For some reason, Nagios kept failing to send notifications out to our department. Out of curiosity I've sent the email out manually and tailed the mail.log then found out that every email being sent is getting a "Connection Refused." Can this be a permission issue? If so where and why all of the sudden it just stopped working as none has changed in the OS (Ubuntu Core).
I I'm currently working on Nagios Core 3.2.2, and I'm trying to set up a mail notification. I already install postfix and mailx. And I'm able to send a mail via Ubuntu. I checked this with the command: echo "mail test" | mailx -s "test subject" mail address. But I don't know what to do next. I'v tried many different suggestions that I found on goolge, but nothing seems to work.
Is there a way to trigger Nagios to "Auto Acknowledge" any host alerts after x amount of times? Sometimes system has been down in the mid of the night but no one really has responded to the notification which might mean bunch of emails flown through in each inbox within the department coming from these alerts.
I've gotten myself involved in the Nagios monitoring tools and somewhat managed to configure the Nagios host, but I'm still having some issues with the email notifications.
From what I've read/researched, one of the favourite methods to get the email notification up is by using sendmail/postfix. I've went through it and learned that they are MTAs. What I actually needed is just a basic email client, and I would email the notices directly to an email address over the internet. Thus, I wont be needing something as complex like sendmail/postfix.
I gotten my hands on "Nail mail". I've successfully configured it to be able to send emails from my linux machine over the internet. However, when I copied the same command lines to nagios's contact.cfg, it did not work.
This is the command line that I'm using. Let me explain what I'm trying to achieve below. Firstly, I would save all the text notifications into a text file(green), and then email it out. The problem is NailMail command (red) does not work on Nagios, but the command line works in the terminal command on my Nagios account. Has anyone attempted using Nail mail with Nagios?
When I try to log into the webgui I am getting a file to download labled "nagios". When double-clicking the file I get the error " The file /path/to/file cannot be found. Please check the location and try again".
I have configured Nagios on SLES 10 SP2. I could configure nagios but 2 things are not working correctly.
1.It doesnt show correct disk utilization for /local partition. 2.It doesnt send Alerts.
I have installed NAGIOS (nagios-3.2.0-11.1, nagios-plugins-1.4.14-11.1 and few other which are required to remove dependency) on server and I have installed nagios (nagios-plugins-1.4.14-11.1, nagios-nrpe-client-2.12-11.1 and few other packages to remove dependency) on client.
Configuration files from NAGIOS server: nagios.cfg (Since this file is big, I have copied the relevant portion only. Let me know if any specific info is required from this file)=>
I have placed the restart-ssh script in /usr/local/nagios/libexec/eventhandler but its not working on seeing the event log the following information is obtained
Though i have checked the script manually by the following command
It works fine with both of the above mentioned commands
I don't know why it is not able to restart ssh when nagios is calling it as event handler
The service definition for ssh in localhost.cfg is as follow:
I want to have like 4 machines, each one of them with Nagios and nrpe (plugin+daemon) installed so that every one of the machines could be able to monitor all of the others.. Is there any problem doing this? Or having nrpe+nagios in the same machine is ok?
I have Nagios working and the check_logfiles plugin installed on my Ubuntu box and NSClient ++ installed on my windows box. My end goal is to be able to get the check_logfiles plugin to flag certain words in Windows Log Files. I can call the check_logfiles from the Ubuntu command line and it works fine when I look at a local log file on the Nagios box. If I try to do something similar but point to a remote windows file the process fails. I have NRPE enabled and I think working on the Windows machine. Before I post Config files etc can someone tell me if my approach is correct? Should I be calling the check_logfiles plugin from the Nagios box or do I need to install the Windows version of Check_logfiles on the remote machine and then make some sort of reference to it in the NSC.ini file on the Windows box.
How to see the code behind the nagios plugin: Nagios Checker? I opened the folder which i have downloaded. After that where do i have to go to see the codes? Is it in App_Codes?
I recently updated to squeeze following the Debian release note steps, and most everything went smoothly. However, I'm now unable to get into the Nagios web interface. The service is still running and sends email notifications of issues as usual, but logging into the web interface gives me a 403 Forbidden error.
i have installed opensuse 11.3 on my PC. i want to display pop up message when new mail arrives. For that, i have installed mail-notification 5.4 ( which requires libnotify-0.4.4). while building mail-notification,it shows the following error . "src/mn-evolution-folder-tree-server.gob:26:33: fatal error: mail/mail-component.h: No such file or directory compilation terminated. command failed."
I was used to use the network and battery icon in the notification are (next to the sound and date/time). Now the bluetooth, battery, network, sound and envelope icon are visible, but there is no responds clicking on it.Pressing the mute-button on the keyboard changes the icon in the notification area. Also connecting a wireless network changes the icon. But to change network is becoming impossible by clicking the icon (and I do not know an other way to change it).The only thing I can think of was whitelisting all programs:Code:sudo gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist "['all']"This was the only change I made.EDIT: Icons of external programs do respond.
I installed the Mac OS X Leopard theme. I didn't really like it so I decided to uninstall it and went to the default theme.
Now, whenever I try to minimize an application to the system tray, the notification area doesn't show any icons.
For example, I am running Tixati and I have set it up to hide it in the system tray when clicking the close button. Before installing the Mac theme, I had the Tixati icon on the top panel, where I could hover the pointer in order to check the download rate, or right-click it in order to configure it, but now, no icon is shown. I have added a new Notification Area applet but there is nothing shown there.
I have four different desktops, or workspaces, on here. I use one for a web browser, another for instant messaging, the third for Evolution, and the fourth for whatever, usually working in folders or word documents or whatnot. Whenever someone sends me a message on Empathy and I'm not focused on the chat window it dings. This is true for desktops 2-4, but when I'm on workspace 1 whether my web browser is minimized or not I don't get the notification sound, the persons message just appears as a notification panel.
So we monitor all of our disk space, but only get pages for critical. What we would like to do is have one email sent to our team every month with all the "Warnings" for our disk. I have been searching and haven't found a way to do this. Any suggestions?
so i am about a week into using ubuntu. installed it on an old hp laptop that i pieced back together, using a broadcom wireless chip set. got all the drivers loaded and working, on any other network the notification area will display that it is connected no problem. but on my home network it will connect to the wireless but the notification icon will still look like there is no connection.
something that may be useful to know is that i originally plugged the laptop into the the router via wire to download the wireless card drivers.
What is the best nagios web frontend available? I want one that allows to add hosts, remove them, configure them, etc. If possible, with a good documentation.
I installed Nagios following the Quick Install method from the Nagios.org web site but now I would like to add and monitor another host.I dont find a way , I have for example replaced the ip number of the localhost(127.0.0.1 localhost.cfg) for another ip number and I am able to monitor another computer that way. But then I no longer MONITOR the localhost unless I replace the ip number in the localhost.cfg file. what I would like to do is to monitor both or more computers.
i have two linux machines i have installed nagios on only one machine and i am getting graph for that one(localhost).but for the second one(host2) i am not getting the graphs so what should i do.. what should i do to get graphs for othe host (remote machine).
I want to monitor RDS (mysql database of EC2) using Nagios. In command line ( I am able to do it but I dont know how to feed it in nagios . On nagios server if I execute the following command , I am able to fetch the information of database (RDS)
