I have bought the original (read it: original) Simpsons season 1 and Family Guy season 1.
These dvds have subtitles for different languages like EN,FR,DE.Whatever subtitle I select I can not increase its size. I have the same problem in these two different tv series.In vlc I go to settings->subtitles and I select as font size Larger
I have fedora 13 set up on a HP6715S laptop. Runlevel 3 is a problem, because the capital letters are the size of full stops. Reading a little, I can try a grub vga setting, but I am not keen as my screen is 1200x800 and X cannot set it otherwise, so I doubt grub could. There's KMS for radeon cards, and the kernel can do what it likes. The biggest font supplied with fedora is sun12x22, which doesn't even have a euro sign. I gather I can go to a height of 32. Anyone know of larger consolefonts, or a wheeze to double the size of one of the others, e.g. lat9w-16? setfont-h32 increases height, but not zoom, so it's like a double spaced console.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just finished installing a bunch of truetype fonts. After installing them, firefox is displaying "bradybunch" font when I search google.
The font settings are all serif and sans serif in both the system fonts settings and firefox settings.
I am using ubuntu 9.10.
Any idea why this could be happening?
I would like to use the Adobe Garamond Pro in my text doccument in open office writer. I got a text document where from a friend where it is used so I know that it can. But when I want to edit I cant find it in the fonts dropdown menu.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a folder with over 1500 fonts, I would like to move them to my /usr/share/fonts folder so that they can be used. Some are from Windows, some are just random extras. I've installed the msttcorefonts, but there are quite a few missing that make some wen pages look different.
How can I go about putting the fonts from my folder, into the appropriate /usr/share/fonts folder to be used? And how can I move them all? I can't drag and drop them, and mv FONT_NAME /usr/share/fonts for all of them will take a month or two. Is there a way to elevate my self to be able to just drag and drop them all? And which folder would they need to go into for them to be used in Chrome and Firefox?
I have just installed openSUSE 11.2 X86_64 on my laptop, I then used KDE to install lots of type 1 fonts for my printer. These get loaded to /usr/local/share/fonts/...These installed fonts are visible to KDE (KWRITE) and GIMP so I assume that the installation was O.K. When I start openOFFICE writer I do not see these fonts. The font selection appears to be the fonts located under /usr/share/fonts. I have not tried other ooo3 components. I assume that they are not going to see the fonts either.
I have searched google and it appears that /usr/local/share/fonts is the correct location for non-packaged fonts. Has anybody any idea what is wrong? I think I could move all the fonts to /usr/share/fonts and ooo3 would work but this seems to break the installation directory structure. I have considered symlinks but I don't like the idea of defining a font twice to Linux and creating the syslinks is more work than reinstalling the fonts if they are lost

I am getting ready to increase an LVM on one of my virtual Sles machines.It has been 4 years since I have had to do this.I found the procedure on how to do this but I feel I am missing something. after I add the space do I need to do some kind of resize or is this only done if the addtion is dynamic? I have a /dev/sdb which is 5GB. I am using LVM.
Now I increase /dev/sdb 2 more GB.
fdisk -l shows 7 GB but pvscan still shows 5GB.
how do I make my system recognize the new 7GB added and be able to add those to my physical volumen and extend my volume group and logical volumen

It is obvious that hardware is able to play the same sounds but louder but because of the data it just plays it at some low level even at 100% volume. Vlc can generally increase the volume of a file up to 200%. Is there a way to do the same thing VLC does system-wide and if possible for an arbitrary v percentage value.
If there is no application that does this, where should i look into for libs to do it myself or what code should i modify(eg code in the alsamixer)

I used to have Windows on my laptop, until I got the blue screen, so I just installed ubuntu. Well everything was ALOT louder on Windows, and I was wondering if there was a way to increase the maximum volume. I have to turn the volume almost all the way up to watch a movie. On Windows 1/4 volume was plenty. I searched, but alot of the answers I saw were that it was hardware limitations, which cant be the case, since it was a ton louder on Windows
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've a laptop from 2001 with 512MB of RAM, and I was running Windows XP, and the laptop wasn't coping very well with the huge demands of the applications of today. It was only yesterday I installed Ubuntu alongside XP and I was surprised to see how fast everything was!
The only thing that's bugging me a bit is the screen. Some parts of the desktop shows some banding where there is meant to be a gradient, probably telling me to increase the color depth. Is there a way in Karmic Koala to change the color depth? I tried using sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf but when the editor shows up with the setting file, it's empty.
When I installed Ubuntu(with W.U.B.I) it gave a set amount of space, unfortunately I have come near the end of the set 15GB's I was just wondering if there was a way to increase the amount of space ubuntu can use

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 4 primary partitions on my hard drive. One of these partitions has been divided into 3 logical partitions with some free space left over. The order is this: "swap", "/", "/home", and about 80GB of unallocated space. I want to incorporate that unallocated space into the home partition. I tried this by booting a live CD and starting GParted but it didn't give me the option to increase the size of my home partition or the primary partition as a whole. The only thing it would let me do is decrease the size of my home partition.
