I'm not sure if I set this up properly. I want to start Eclipse CDT on my Ubuntu 8.04 install using X11 through VNC.When I try to run eclipse through vnc viewer command line using ./eclipse it hangs for a few seconds then fails. No error message is output on the command line.Is there a startup error log or some place I can look to find out what's happening? Or am I doing this wrong?
View 5 RepliesToday, eclipse will not start for me. The initial splash screen comes up, then the attached window pops-up with not text in it...the only way to get rid of the window is to kill the eclipse process from the terminal/command-line.
I have completely purged and reinstalled java and eclipse, but am still having the same issue. Starting from the terminal also does not give any message besides the "(eclipse:15273): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times" warning. Any ideas or suggestions?
Btw, running Ubuntu 9.10 x86 and the most up-to-date eclipse that is in the repos.
When I tried to start eclipse it gives the following errors.This Eclipse build doesn't have support for the integrated browser.When I tried the command java -jar /usr/lib/eclipse/startup.jar It worked. How to solve the problem.

I have downloaded the eclipse Ganymede 3.4.2 in my fedora-9.JDK 1.6 is installed in the system.when I try to run the eclipse by clicking the executable file it's running but asking for a password.I tried with my system password and "eclipse" as the password but it's not accepting it.When I run that ecplise in other system it works f9, so I think I need to make some configurational changes in my system.can anyone guide me in this this is urgent as am in the middle of a project for which eclipse in necessery.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using Eclipse to program in Java for a long time, and have been using Jigloo for most of my GUI design. Recently I decided to try out the C/C++ plugin. I tried installing it, but it did not work. After many attempts, I finally gave up. However, after uninstalling it I found that Jigloo had stopped working. Any other plugins I try to install now also don't work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling plugins, and reinstalling eclipse, but nothing I have done fixes it. Although eclipse says that the software has been installed, nothing shows up in the features list or the plugins list.
Another problem: When I install eclipse from the repositories, it doesn't install a bunch of libraries and eclipse cannot recognize standard java files.
I recently had to reinstall Eclipse on ubuntu 10.10 and i did it twice, once just removing eclipse package, and the second time removing every package associated with an eclipse install.when i launch eclipse I go into my package view and select a package and then double click on a Java file.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed OS11.4 on my old laptop, Compaq Armada E500., 512MB RAM, ATI Rage Mobility. During installation I chose "minimal server" and added some development packages, lxde and a little more. I chose to start in runlevel 3 which is full networking without X. Still, when computer is booted it tries to start Xorg which doesn't work because of some problem w driver. The start-up seems to stop there, it never loads completely - seems most things in runlevel 3 are not started (see below) I can manually login on laptop and fix it - but never permanently, same thing again after reboot.
I have checked /etc/inittab & yast - both states default runlevel is 3. I have checked services to be started both directly, browsing directory /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/, and with YaST, it is very clear X should not load during boot. But, as said, it does.. I don't really care about the driver problem right now, I can fix that later when I have more time. So how do I stop X from getting started automatically?
More info, if needed: The installation also stopped with message on tty1 "Starting YaST2" and tty8 showing errors with graphics driver (mach64). The system seemed to be installed though, so I simply rebooted (issuing "reboot" from tty2).

I'm not completely sure where it stops, network is configured but keyboard is wrong and mysql & everything after is not started, so somewhere between S02network and S06kbd. I'm going to use it as a server for testing purposes so no X is actually needed - however I do want to have X & lxde installed just in case, my Internet connection at home is terribly slow so I need most things I might need in the future installed today.
I install eclipse via the synaptic package manager and it did work before but I was messing around with some svn packages and corrupted it. So naturally I did a complete removal of anything related to eclipse and reinstalled all the packages after, but to no avail problem still persists. here is the log file it tells me to look at, can really make head or tales of this stack error info, not really a big Java man.I have a 64bit install of ubuntu 9.10Quote:

I use eclipse 3.5.2 for developing web applications (servlets,JSP) and Java programs. The problem is that I don't know how to update it, I mean it's not updated automatically through the update manager, so I guess I need to add something in the repositories. Anyway inside eclipse, in the help menu, there's the button "check for updates", but after it searches for new versions, it says "there's nothing to update". Is there a way to update it through the update manager? And how can I do it?

However, it will still highlight the code i selected. the program will back to normal after i click the applet on the right hand side of the top panel.

I wish to use the new Eclipse Galileo, and so far it works fine... out of my home directory.I would like to install this system-wide, so that all my users can use it just the same.I assume the destination would be /usr/local/bin, but when I put the directory there and link the executable as /usr/local/bin/eclipse (linking to /usr/local/bin/eclipse_bin/eclipse), I get shared library errors.This was a failed attempt at a hack, so I would like to know: where can I put the files so as to properly do this installation?
