Software :: Cannot Install Binary File Due To Changed MD5 Checksum

May 17, 2011

I am trying to install True Combat: Elite on my Fedora 14 machine, but when I try to install it, it tells me there is an error in the md5 checksum of the binary installer. Output:

[alex@sofy01 Desktop]$ sudo linux32 ./true.combat.elite_0.49-english.run
Verifying archive integrity...Error in MD5 checksums: 3723510cf281bc315a9009cd1ca4f0e4 is different from 7cd28449f1231ff747e08fb76d4615c3

This file was copied from a flash drive onto my hard drive. Is there any way to skip md5 checks because I really do not want to download this 200+ MB file again.

OpenSUSE Install :: Checking The ISO File's Checksum Before Burning?

Apr 12, 2010

I downloaded the DVD ISO version of OpenSuSe version 11.2 64bit from openSUSE. I checked the iso file checksum after downloading and it was correct. However after burning to DVD i booted from the disc and started the install. After getting passed the initial settings and it starts to extract all of the packages each file fails the checksum and will not install. I tried downloading again on a different computer and burning again using UltraISO using the Disc-At-Once method, again checking the ISO file's checksum before burning.

It still gives the same errors. So i loaded windows and started the windows based install and my anti-virus (Kaspersky) says the disc is infected with a trojan. How can the disc be infected when the ISO file's checksum is correct?. The computer that i am using to burn the disc is virus free according to Kaspersky and Norton Technician Toolkit.

Software :: Jdk1.5.0_08 Install - Cannot Execute Binary File - X86_64 Versus Ia64

Sep 17, 2009

I have java jdk1.5.0_08 installed on linux x86_64 architecture and I can execute java -version no problem. I took the same binaries and installed on ia64 architecture and the command java -version gives and error "cannot execute binary file" The Linux OS versions are 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5 on x86_64 and 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5 on ia64 Do you know whether the jdk1.5.0_08 binaries are compatible between x86_64 and ia64 architecture. The answer may be no, but I may be wrong and there could be some other issue. Where can I get the jdk1.5.0_08 specific to ia64 architecture for Linux version 2.6.18-128.4.1.e15

General :: Jre - RHEL-5 / Getting Error Jre-6u16-x64-rpm.bin: Line 368: ./install.sfx.20520: Cannot Execute Binary File"?

Oct 22, 2009

I have installed RHEL-5 on a 64-bit machine recently, and want to install java. Earlier when I did "java -version", it showed jre1.4.0. But for my application , I need jre 1.5.0 or later, so I decided to download jre1.6. I am the root user here and I downloaded the jre1.6 as rpm.bin as well as simple .bin format.

But the problem is that when I tried executing any of them, I am getting below error message :

" ./jre-6u16-linux-x64-rpm.bin: line 368: ./install.sfx.20520: cannot execute binary file"
Moreover, now when I tried "java -version", it is not showing any thing.

Could anybody suggest me how can I resolve this deadlock situation, as I need to install my other application at the earliest.

Ubuntu :: GDM Broken - Gdm-binary[230]: WARNING: Unable To Load File '/etc/gdm/custom.conf'. No Such File Or Directory

Sep 1, 2011

I've had Ubuntu 11.04 installed on my desktop since it's release. Up until an hour ago, it was working fine. I clicked on an update from the update manager, now booting into a graphical mode is completely broken, (the start-up load hangs at 'Check Battery State ... [0k]'). I restarted my computer, and booted into safe mode, and launched the terminal. This all works fine. I then typed :

Code: sudo gdm start into the command prompt, hoping that I would be able to start things manually. Instead, it spat out this: Code:

gdm-binary[230]: WARNING: Unable to load file '/etc/gdm/custom.conf'. No such file or directory.
gdm-binary[230]: WARNING: Unable to find users : no seat-id found.
gdm-binary[230]: WARNING: Gdm Display: display lasted 0.070467 seconds

The last line was printed about 8 times, with slightly different times, before it gave up and failed. Some information which might help, I have Gnome 2, Unity and KDE (not sure which version), installed. My graphics card is the GTX 275, and I have driver the Nvidia driver 275.21. So yeah, I think the update has gone and moved custom.conf somewhere, but I have no idea on how to fix it. I have a graphics programming assignment due on Friday and I would be eternally grateful if I could get this fixed well before then.

Programming :: Convert An Arbitrary Binary File Into A Executable File?

Feb 18, 2010

In a project I'm working on with a few other people, I got the task of writing an assembler. The last thing I do is convert the commands into a binary representation, and jam it into a file. Now one of my teammates said he'd like to be able to "reference" the code within another program. He said he'd be able to do this if the file I output is a Linux object file. I'm thinking it'd also work as an executable. Anyway, he said he'd like to be able to grab the file and reference the binary by address. I'm still fuzzy on this, and if you're confused with what I said here, please tell me so I can ask him for better details.Anyway, I'm aware that gcc can compile files to ".o", but that's only for C/C++, and my file is just binary. I'm also aware of "ld", but I haven't seen any use of it to help me. I'm happy to hear suggestions as to what I can do. If anything, I think I'll implement a few functions to grab the bits and hand them to him in an array or something.

OpenSUSE Install :: Checksum Error On Burnt Dvd Of 11.4 64 Bit Version?

Jul 22, 2011

I have downloaded the opensuse 11.4 64 bit iso both as a direct download and as a torrent, and the md5sums for both iso images are fine.

I tried burning both, and for both of them they fail the checksum installation media test for the actual dvd.

(dvd title openSUSE-DVD-x86_640024)

I burnt them on a 32 bit Pentium 4 machine running suse 11.3, and am trying to install on an Athlon 64 3000+.

This may well be a stupid question, but do you have to burn a 64 bit iso image on a 64 bit machine, or should I be able to burn it on a P4 ok?

I should add that I had tried installing one the dvd's first, and got a lot of failed packages and ended up aborting the install.

Ubuntu Networking :: File 'path Omyfile' Has Been Changed On The File System?

May 28, 2010

I have asked this over on Launchpad and have found bugs filed on the eclipse bug tracker but it seems to be going nowhere so I guess ill ask here.

I am using Eclipse for some development work and having saved a file, defocus the eclipse window (to test changes in a browser) when I refocus the eclipse window I get the following error...

The file 'path omyfile' has been changed on the file system.Do you want to replace the editor contents with these changes?

I have searched and searched and this seems to be a CIFS/SAMBA problem. I even found one solution suggesting that changing his mounts from cifs to smbfs fixed his problem however that would appear not to be an option for me since using smbfs in the fstab causes cifs mounts. This problem would seem to occur in Bluefish as well as some other IDE's so it is not an Eclipse issue.

Fedora :: Yum "Metadata File Does Not Match Checksum" / Solve This?

Jul 8, 2010

I am using Fedora12 for about three months. I generally do a yum update once a week, and all went well till yesterday when I got a long list of messages like this:

"rpmfusion-free-updates/primary_db | 473 kB 00:00
http://mirrors.tummy.com/mirrors/rpm...ry.sqlite.bz2: [Errno -1] Metadata file does not match checksum
Trying other mirror."

The above message was repeated for all the mirrors until at last it said "no more mirrors to try" and stopped. Tried again after "yum clean all", but the same problem repeats. Today I tried afresh, and got the same message.

Is this due to some recent update I did, or is there a real problem with the mirrors? Please tell me how to solve this.

CentOS 5 :: Error "Metadata File Does Not Match Checksum"

Apr 6, 2010

After adding rpmforge on a fresh installation of CentOS 5.4 64bit, I received the error "Metadata file does not match checksum" so decided to try the fix yum -y remove yum-fastestmirror, As discussed at [URL]... Unfortunately, this also deinstalled yum. If I try to reinstall from my CentOS 5.4 DVD, I get:

# rpm -i --aid yum-3.2.22-20.el5.centos.noarch.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
yum-fastestmirror is needed by yum-3.2.22-20.el5.centos.noarch

But if I try to install the yum-fastestmirror I get

# rpm -i --aid yum-fastestmirror-1.1.16-13.el5.centos.noarch.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
yum >= 3.0 is needed by yum-fastestmirror-1.1.16-13.el5.centos.noarch

Which is a bit circular.

Fedora :: Cannot Execute Binary File?

Sep 20, 2010

I'm new to Fedora, and haven't used any flavor of Linux in years. I'm attempting to run a few benchmarks that were given to me by my instructor, but every one I try to run gives an error "Cannot execute binary file". For instance,.inp.inThis command gives an error:bash: ./Mcf: cannot execute binary fileIt is not a permission problem, I have confirmed the file has execute permissions (one of the things I still remembered after all these years). I suspect all the benchmarks I have been given were compiled on Ubuntu. Would this be causing the problem? I do not have access to the source code, so I cannot recompile. If that is the problem, is there a way around it that doesn't involve throwing away a weekend and starting fresh on Ubuntu?
