Server :: Install Red Hat New Cluster - Error: Cman Not Started: Cannot Start, Cluster Name Is Too Long

Mar 15, 2011

I'm having a very strange problem with red hat cluster. After testing it in the lab, I tried to install a new cluster and received the following error: cman not started: Cannot start, cluster name is too long or other CCS error /usr/sbin/cman_tool: aisexec daemon didn't start I've checked the internet for that error, but nothing. I decided to to take the example from cluster.conf man, which looks like that :

And still I get the same error. I can find my servers both from DNS (FQDN and short name) and they also appear in /etc/hosts.

Fedora Servers :: How To Setup GFS2 Without Cluster Suite / How To Configure Cluster.conf

Nov 6, 2010

I am trying to build GFS2 cluster with 2 or 3 Fedora 14 nodes, but I've encountered some problems from the start. First luci does not work at all in Fedora 14. There is no luci_admin and even if I manage to start luci service, I get a blank white screen when I try to open it from the browser. I've googled a bit and found that I'd might be able to setup GFS if I manage to build cluster.conf manually and start the cluster suite, but I cannot find documentation on how to create cluster.conf anywhere. If anyone knows how to setup GFS2 without a cluster suite or how to configure cluster.conf.

Jun 16, 2011

The setup: 2 identical boxes running Fedora Core 15 2.6.38.8 kernel, 64bit that Im trying to setup in a cluster using luci.

So far: Managed to create the cluster.conf file, defined the nodes with hosts and such.

The problem: When I try to have the 2 nodes (nod1 and nod2) join the cluster via luci's web interface, I get
"Starting cman: Job failed. See system logs and 'systemctl status' for details."
When I check code...

Now. I know that cman service is installed. I even tried removing and reinstalling the whole thing, dependencies and all, but it just won't start and I've run out of ideas.

CentOS 5 :: Can't Get Cluster To Work (aisexec Daemon Didn't Start)

CentOS 5 :: Solution Cluster Fail To Start Virtual Services After Upgrade To 5.5?

May 16, 2010

After upgrading Centos 5.4 cluster nodes to 5.5 all virtual services failed to start. All virtual services are marked as 'failed'. The reason: new /usr/share/cluster/vm.sh requires 'which', but this is not reflected in rgmanager-2.0.52-6.el5.centos.

Solution: run 'yum -y install which' on all nodes, and reboot cluster. Hope that will save somebody hours of downtime.

Ubuntu :: Edited Xorg.conf And PC Won't Start

Jun 7, 2011

My PC running 11.04 was showing a blank screen after every 10 mins while watching BBC iplayer (with all the screensaver and power saver settings switched to over 1 hour). The picture returned when I moved the mouse but it was still annoying.

So I googled for a solution and found this page [URL]. Based on this, I did the following in terminal:

"sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf"

Then when the text editor came up, I deleted 'EndSection' from the xorg.conf file, and added the following lines:

Section "ServerFlags"
Option "blank time" "0"
Option "standby time" "0"
Option "suspend time" "0"
Option "off time" "0"
EndSection

My problem: upon rebooting the computer, I just got a purple screen with the Ubuntu logo, it went no further. I tried booting with the livecd and removing the lines I added, but it wouldn't let me save the file. I also tried booting into recovery mode but I'm not very adept at the command line navigation stuff, so I don't know how to find or re-edit the file.

CentOS 5 Server :: Loading Multiple Virtual Host Conf Files From Httpd.conf?

Jun 1, 2009

I've been scanning the apache2 docs for the past few days and have not come up with an answer my following issue:

In my httpd.conf file, at the very end, I have the line

Include conf/vhosts/vhost_*.conf

However, when I run apache checkconfig or try to start apache, it gives me the error:

httpd: Syntax error on line 993 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts/vhost_1.conf: Permission denied

It appears as if the Include line is correct - in terms of it grabbing the first virtual host conf file. However, I'm confused on the permissions. the /etc/httpd folder is owned by root:root, as are the subfolders. As a test, I chown'd the conf/vhost folder combination and all the vhost files to apache:apache to see if that made a difference, and it appeared to make no difference at all. The log files don't contain anything (assumed because apache isn't starting). If I place the contents of the vhosts in a singular vhosts.conf it works - with the permissions set to root:root. I'd like to avoid having to use one vhosts conf for the configuration I'm trying to achieve - as it would make my life a lot easier.

Hardware :: Getting A Radeon Xorg.conf.d/*.conf Stuff?

May 22, 2011

I have used nVidia my entire linux life (about 5 years clean and sober from M$). Recently, I have switched over to an ATI Radeon HD 5550 card. After many trial and error setups, I finally got the resolutions and screens set properly with a xrandr command, which I have now added to a shell script in ~/.kde4/Autostart. It has worked for me for a while now, but I really would like to get it set in the xorg.conf.d files so that I don't have to wait that extra few seconds after login for the screens to fix themselves.

Is there an easy way to take what xrandr does and export it to the xorg.conf.d files? If my video card recognizes my default monitor as DFP2 and the tv that I only sometimes use with this computer as DFP1, how can I ensure that the login screen for openSUSE/KDE4 appears on my default screen (an issue that drove me nuts a few months ago when I tried Ubuntu to see what all the fuss was about)?

My xrandr command that I use to fix it all is:

xrandr --output DFP2 --auto --pos 0x0 --primary --output DFP1 --auto --right-of

I am using the proprietary Radeon driver from the ioda repository. DFP2 is a monitor which has a optimum resolution of 1920x1200, and DFP1 is an 1080p HDTV. I can not reverse the output plugs for the screens even though my monitor is an HDMI monitor because I use the actual HDMI port on the video card to output audio to the television and the other plug is a DVI that I convert to HDMI for the monitor.

Fedora :: Modifying The File System?

How can I become root outside of the terminal? I want to be able to manipulate the file system (i.e. move files, delete files, rename files) in the file viewer GUI (not sure what it's called; I'd say "Windows Explorer" if I were talking about Windows).

Also, how can I manipulate (move, delete, copy, rename) files inside the terminal?

I do understand how to move around (change the working directory) in the terminal, and how to become root in the terminal, and naturally I understand how to move, copy, blah blah blah. I know the basic basics (just letting you know, I'm not the type of person who knows less about computers than a rock does).

Debian Multimedia :: Gconf-editor On Modifying The URL?

Jan 19, 2011

I use Debian Lenny and iceweasel as my browser on a gnome core desktop. I also use JFOREX (java application) for my trading platform. It works fine. The problem is when I click on portfolio statement in creates an error which states: "Error in launching web browser". I googled the error on the web and read some sites and it says that I should install gconf-editor and modify the URL handlers in order to point to iceweasel.

The problem is I am practically a noob when it comes to gnome and sadly I am not technical enough to understand the values that needs to be changed using gconf-editor.
