i desperately need help on a qmail server.I have followed the RedHat guide from qmailrocks and have qmail installed on a Centos 5.4 system and everything works properly.i need to get emails forwarding working and don't really know how to go about doing so. This is what i need.im using vpopmail to add/delete users.

Now, it starts but it doesn't live more than 1 sec. I can send emails but can not receive them.
I did a strace:
when i start qmail seervice it gives error#/etc/init.d/qmail startStarting qmail-toaster:

1) I have a qmail/vpopmail/mysql setup (someone else did) and I see that the "vlog" database is eating up disk space. It's only growing and not shrinking or being pruned of old entries. At this rate the disk will fill in the next 60 days. I googled around but found nothing on managing the vpopmail databases. Is "vlog" even part of vpopmail or something the last admin did for inhouse customization? If it IS part of vpopmail can I delete old entries or at least shrink the log?
2) My MySQL 5 server is pretty beefy. The connections max at 500 and usually average about 50. However, when we get extremes fits of email and connections start creeping up on 400, 450 the server crawls SOOOO slow that VPOPMAIL fails to authenticate out of timeout. The server load goes from .16 to 2 and 3 but the instant I restart MySQL it's rite back down to .5 then .3 and .15 again as all the backed up requests from the other mail servers are processed.
Below are my server variables and stats: Initially I dropped the wait_timeout from 8 hours to three minutes which reduced the connections significantly but still I'm having this random overload issue.
I am aware that there is a qmail-ldap package to have ldap back end for qmail. But I need only user authentication for qmail through ldap (not the backend; i.e still keeping Mysql as the database). I am pretty new to mail server configuration. I have just configured a (q)mail server (which is currently my sand box) and am able send and receive emails. I am planning to add ldap authentication (just that) to it. Can anyone point me to the right direction?

There is one important thing that i like to share with people here and request from the experts to suggest some solution. when using outlook you can just give someone's else name who has got an account in the same domain having same qmail server running and you will be receiving and sending on the behalf of that person rather you will be using his/her account.

We recently got word from a customer that he received a "451 error - can't connect to server" message from Postini - stating that the server is unreachable. Don't really know what could be causing this, the other day my messages in queue was at like 5,000 or so, but now its up to 445,000 messages in queue!! All of them that exact message.
I am doing this project for our school. Basically we want to pipe all incoming emails to a script which filters out certain messages (not only spam but duplicates, large messages, etc). If they fail certain criteria, the script simply does nothing.If they pass , then the script should pass the entire message (headers and body) back on to qmail to send. The piping part is not a problem, but I am stuck with the next part. Is there a way to pass the headers and body back to qmail for it to process and send, as if it received it the first time?Some details:A catchall email account is created via Plesk control panel on linux (centos).THe .qmail file in /var/qmail/mailnames/domain.com/catchall/ is edited to include the line:-|/path/to/pipe/handler.phpThe handler.php file simply reads the entire message (headers and body) and they are then parsed and analysed.

It is my daily routine to check the cpu utilization using top command and by using top different processes can be viewed. the apache process after 1 or 2 days shows cpu utilization of 100%. There is no affect on the server whatsoever of 100% because mail server has 2 processors of 4 core, i think so that may be the reason. Can any one explain why is this happening. What i do after that is i restart the httpd process and cpu utilization comes to normal. What are the reasons behind this and how to solve this permanently.
