Software :: AD Authentication - Cannot Connect To Session

Jan 16, 2009

Im having some issues regarding AD authentication.

I have the PC running Ubuntu 8.10, it has likewise installed and is working great except for one problem.

We have currently two domains. One is called FS and one is called PIONEER. I joined the PC to FS, and can authenticate to FS perfectly (using FSuser at login), but when trying to Authenticate to PIONEER (using PIONEERuser at login) it just sits at the blank background and doesnt load the desktop at all.

What am I missing? Is there an conf file i need to edit?

Here is output of my auth.log when I try to log in using the PIONEERJpionner login

Code:

It looks as thought its not lauching the session.

Also, I am able to get in with PIONEERJpioneer using the failsafe terminal, but upon logon it gives me:

Then it acts normal.

Slackware :: FreeNX - Authentication Works But Session Fails

Jul 21, 2010

I installed freenx-0.7.3-i486-1alien.tgz on the server (with Slack 12.1), all according to instructions. I installed the no machine nxclient 3.4.0-7 on the client (with Slack 12.2). I ran setup and configured. I used the default no-machine keys, not custom ones. Since authentication failed at the beginning, I enabled DBauthentication, and added my user and password, which seemed to allow authentication to occur.

Here is my node.conf:

# This file is provided by FreeNX. It should be placed either into
# /etc/nxserver/node.conf (FreeNX style) or /usr/NX/etc/node.conf

Debian :: GDebi - Cannot Connect To Session Bus (No Reply)

Aug 11, 2010

I am running Debian Squeeze with XFCE. I have installed gdebi, but when I try to run it as gdebi-gtk it gets to the point of password entry, lets me do this then closes before installing the package. It worked fine for the first few, and it works as gdebi from the command line, so I can only guess that it is linked to something with gtk graphical front end. I tried removing using apt-get remove and reinstalling as well as purging the cache and checking for broken dependencies.

This is the output when I run gdebi-gtk from terminal

Red Hat / Fedora :: Unable To Connect To Existing Vnc Session

Jul 1, 2010

We are using Real VNC enterprise server. User will connect to the vnc server and do their work. We are facing one issue since from last week. When user is working on session, some times the session will get hung.He can't do anything on that. If he close the connection and try to connect from vnc viewer to the same vnc session it is not connecting. even it is not asking for the password. I have checked in the server the Xvnc process for the session is still running. When I tried to check the session is alive or not from telnet it is not showing that RFB 004.001.

xhdvnc2 ~]# telnet localhost 5902

If users are running some important tasks on that session they are not able to access. We are using RHEL 4U7 .

Networking :: Authentication On Trying To Connect To Share On NAS (LaCie D2)?

Apr 18, 2010

I have ubuntu 9.10 installed with 2.6.31-21-generic kernel and have recently bought a LaCie d2 network NAS to which I am connecting via a Conceptronic C54BRS4A router, but am having problems with connecting to the share drives.

The d2 software is version 1.0.8 and I have configured a share drive <4music>, and a user <myuser> assigned to a workgroup <workgroup> and with readwrite permissions for that drive.

The version of LaCie Network Assistant (LNA) for Linux available for download here url is just 1.1.0, but the CD accompanying the NAS actually contains LNA for linux version 1.4.1 (5). I have installed both versions and the version 1.1.0 does not even find the drives, let alone mount them, so I am using the 1.4.1 version which does seem to work.

On launching LNA 1.4.1 I am asked for password to mount the drive:

Enter your password to perform administrative tasks. The application 'mount -t cifs '//192.168.0.102/Public' '/home/myuser/mount -lacie/192.168.0.102/Public' -0 user=myuser, pass=mypassword' lets you modify essential parts of your system
and both the Public and 4music drives are marked in green as Smb (Windows File Sharing) when connecting as registered user <myuser> with password <mypassword>

When I navigate to smb://d2.local/ I can connect fine to Public drive, but the problem comes when I try to connect to Share drive and I get dialogue box saying Password required for share share on d2.local and requiring me to input username, domain, password.

The user <myuser> on my linux box is the same as that configured for d2. The domain field autopopulates with the workgroup <workgroup> I have set up for that user on the d2, and I enter the appropriate password <mypassword>, but the connection is not authenticated.

Running
/usr/bin/smbclient -L 192.168.0.102
returns:
Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.4.1]
Sharename Type Comment

Server :: Can't Connect To Nxserver - Authentication Failed

Jul 21, 2010

If your machine is connected to the Internet, you'll probably want to disallow ssh password authentication (which is advised but not mandatory). Edit the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file and change/add the following lines:

PasswordAuthentication no
AllowUsers nx

Don't forget to restart the sshd daemon after making that change: service sshd restart I already have PasswordAuthentication yes in my file as I need it to login to the server through ssh. Do I just skip that line and only add AllowUsers nx mynxuser at the end? Also, I followed the rest of the manual and when I tried the client on Windows it failed: I put in a user and password to login but shouldn't it be using the key instead? I think the problem is related to the above due to:

Quote:

NX> 203 NXSSH running with pid: 1428
NX> 285 Enabling check on switch command
NX> 285 Enabling skip of SSH config files

Ubuntu Networking :: Authentication - Wirelessly Connect To My Network - Cannot Get Address

May 27, 2011

I have been trying to wirelessly connect to my network for weeks now. My netgear dongle is fully working. I have installed the driver using ndiswrapper. I can see my network and signal is excellent; everything is working perfectly. When I try to connect it thinks about it but never connects. The password is fine; it works great with other computers. decided to have a go with wicd, so got rid of the Gnome network manager and installed wicd. Adaptor and wicd appear to be working brilliantly EXCEPT I cannot connect. wicd tells me its a bad password. Password fine because it works brilliantly with every other device I connect to my network. If I remove security from network, it tells me it cannot get address, even though it sailed passed that with no problem when there was security. I have searched the internet for a solution to this problem time and time again. Lots of people seem to be having this problem, but no one knows the solution. Is there a solution? It happens with both Ubuntu 10.04 LTS v1 v2 and Ubuntu 11.04. What the heck is going on. This happens with WPA WEP and anything else I try to use

I have managed to set it up using SSL but testing a mail client like thunderbird I can also connect to port 25 using no authentication. Connecting using SSL on port 465 by editing "master.cf" file works but 25 i still open.

1. How do I prevent clients to connect to port 25 without authentication?
2. I guess I have to have port 25 open in order to receive mail from the outside world?

Ubuntu Networking :: Unable Connect Dell D630 To ATT 2Wire Using WPA Authentication?

Aug 26, 2011

make a wireless connection to an ATT 2wire router ESSID called "WIGGERS" that I do not control. My Dell D630 does connect successfully to other WPA broadcasts. I am running Natty (11.04) with the default Unity interface.iwconfig does see "WIGGERS", but the Network Connections application on the menu bar eventually times out and asks for the authentication code. When I put in the code, it still does not connect.I do successfully connect to "WIGGERS" using another laptop running Win XP so I know the code is correct. The Windows machine indicates that it is using:etwork authentication: WPA2-PSK Data encryption AESSomething that may be causing the problem is that the router is apparently putting out two signals (see iwlist output below). Both Cell 01 and Cell 02 have the same ESSID.Below I have pasted output from lspci, iwconfig, and iwlist:

Code:
Latitude-D630:~$ lspci -nn | grep 0280
0c:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection

Programming :: Hashing The Components Of An Tcp Session To Assign/locate The Session In A Hash Table Bucket?

Nov 10, 2010

I have a very bad attempt at hashing the components of an tcp session to assign/locate the session in a hash table bucket. I am pretty sure that it has a very high collision rate and when there are a very large number of tcp sessions my application is having to search a long linked list to find the session within the bucket.

All the hashing functions I have found take a single string input where I need to input several integers and hash them into a single result. My guess is that any real hashing function is going to produce better results than what I am currently doing.

Keep in mind I need this on a hetrogeneous setup ( linux & windows together). Diameter seemed like a good fit until I discovered that the open source code no longer seems to be maintained ( C/C++).

I was also looking at Kerberos as an option though there is alot overhead with the server. SSL/TLS or EAP? I am looking for simple but secure and am new at the security protocols.

CentOS 5 :: Writing 2nd Session Of Multi-session DVD?

Jan 22, 2010

I am putting together some new systems for my customer and I'm having some trouble with a script that we use to back up files to a DVD R. The problem is that I can't write a 2nd session to the DVD unless I eject the disk and reload it. The drives are slimline type drives, Sony BD-5730S and Teac DV-W28S-V93, so they won't reload without human intervention. Opsys is CentOS 5.4 or RHEL 5.4. I've tried both AMD and Intel based mother boards. If i try this on Fedora 11 or 12 it works fine. This works on IDE attached drives but not a SATA attached drives. Fedora appears to use something called genisoimage instead of mkisofs. I can't get genisoimage to run on CentOS or RHEL.

Here's the code to setup the test files:

rm -f /tmp/BDtest/*
mkdir /tmp/BDtest
dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/BDtest/blank.iso bs=10M count=1
for NUM in {1..160}
