Slackware :: Make Lincity Configure Properly Prior To Compiling?

Mar 15, 2010

I have installed SDL_gfx, configured, compiled and installed perfectly fine, then I ran ldconfig, and yet I get an error from the install scrip of Lincity, complaining that I'm missing SDL_gfx -- I've read all the READMEs and INSTALLs for each, yet I can't see what I've missed. What do I need to do to make Lincity configure properly prior to compiling?

Slackware :: Preformatting With Gparted Prior To Installation - Partition Scheme

Jan 13, 2010

A snapshot of my existing partion configuration can be viewed at: [URL] I intend for the space including /dev/sda1,dev/sda2 and /dev/sda3 to be used by slack 13.0. The OS at /dev/sda6 and /dev/sda7 will be "retired" once I get slack up, running and configuration for my work. In the past I have preformatted partitions, that is, from the existing OS, I have formatted partitions for use by the next OS, using gparted. In the case of ubuntu, that has worked well. And frankly, I'm pretty rusty with fdisk....

1)Is there any advantage - or disadvantage - in my doing this for my pending slackware installation? Will slack recognize the "clean" partition and opt to skip formatting?

2)I presume that slack will recognize the existing swap partition. Am I correct?

3)My scheme would be to provide separate partions for /, /home/ and /usr or /usr/local.

4)Any recommendations on filesystems?

Software :: Can't Properly Configure Lirc, Hexdump Shows Other Bits Changing

Jul 19, 2010

recently I'm working with one of these... LM-PC001

it works via /dev/input/event4, so I'm using devinput driver for lirc, the thing is, it works flawlessy when lirc is not running, (via linux-input-layer) but I do need to make it work with lirc...

I can make work almost everything using this lircd.conf (incomplete here)

Code:
# Please make this file available to others
# by sending it to <lirc@bartelmus.de>
#
# this config file was automatically generated

[Code]...

First thing, it doesn't show the header (not a problem really) but as you can see the bits that differ the direction on the axis is the latter ones, and lirc is not taking them into account so both buttons result in the same direction...

Is there a way that i can make lirc take them into account?

also irrecord doesn't work because of the "0x40004" header, all comands, are detected as "0x400004"...

and since it uses devinput driver, mode2 says "This program doesn't work for this hardware yet."

Slackware :: Cross Compiling For Arm With Buildroot ?

Jan 27, 2011

I'm trying to build some boot and kernel images for my WD Mybook world edition, which uses an arm processor on my x86_64 host box. Ultimately i'd like to install slackarm. Lilo doesn't work on arm so you have to compile your own kernel and have the bootloader statically linked to kernel inorder to boot the OS. So i'm using my slackware install to cross compile the boot loaders (u-boot) and kernel image (uImage).

I've successfully compiled the buildroot environment which has generated the arm-linux-* binaries, eg, gcc 3.4.2 for arm.

Code:

These are in a build folder (shortened in text below), which i add to my PATH

Code:

I then move to the directory where i want to build the stage1 boot loader, which is supplied in the GPL code from WD.

Code:

However the build fails with a segfault, which looks to be caused by the incorrect libraries and compiler being used:

Code:

It seems to be using my x86_64 libs and gcc 4.4.4 which is the host compiler not the target.

I've tried setting ARCH=arm but got the same results.

Do i need to export some additional variables or unset some to prevent the host files being used instead of the targets?

Error suggests that YACC is missing but bison is present, also db4 (tried with db44 and db3, same story).
