View 4 RepliesTrying to run Sauerbraten and Frozen-Bubble on Slackware 13.1 - I get sauerbraten:
Code:
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.4.2
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.2.43
libpng error: Incompatible libpng version in application and library
frozen-bubble:
Code:
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.4.2
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.2.43
libpng error: Incompatible libpng version in application and library
I've tried recompiling the libpng 1.4.2 package with the ln -sf libpng.so.3 libpng.so.0 uncommented from the Slackbuild script, and recompiled gd, and still haven't had any success.
Seems like I'm having a problem with libpng. I've created a simple SDL app and last night it worked perfectly. Today, I tried it out again and it gave me this error.
Code:
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.4.3
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.2.44
libpng error: Incompatible libpng version in application and library
I didn't mess with anything related to libpng and I'm not sure what the problem is. I didn't even know I had libpng-1.2.44 installed. I'm not sure if this is an SDL_image problem or libpng or if it's just my path is wrong.
compile slim-1.3.1 (last stable) on slackware-current but it failed. So I use svn version, compilation worked but when I launch slim, X is started but slim crashed.I have this message in slim.log :

While I was compiling kuickshow I noticed this error:
Code:

I'm primarily trying to use kmess but have found the same problem in using kopete. A lot of the icons are missing and both applications crash. Running them both in the terminal reveals the problem:
Code:
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.2.37
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.4.1
in kopete:
Code:
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.4.1
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.2.43
I only have one package installed: libpng-1.4.1, although I can see that it contains both of the versions Both apps crash as a result of this error, curiously each for the opposite reason! I have tried the kmess slackbuilds from slacky.eu and slackbuilds.org, I have also tried compiling from source myself. I guess I need to force kmess to compile using the newer libpng, although I'm not really sure how to do that.
libgmp If you found slackpkg failed for this upgrade because of libgmp not found you will need to grab the gmp package and install manually. This way ought to work:

I am advised by my application about a security update "Thunderbird 3.1.4", but when I go to the slackbuilds, I don't find it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI applied the security updates from October 20th, which included Firefox and Thunderbird, but I did not see one for Seamonkey. Since then, Seamonkey is warning me that there's an update available for it too -- as usually happens when Firefox is updated. Is there an update to Seamonkey that's available for -stable? Did I miss it somehow?

How can I make the security applet stop showing an update for firefox 3.5.9? I have a more recent version installed from mozilla repo: firefox 3.6. The mozilla repo already has a higher priority (95 instead of 99), so I don't know what to do.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am from India, and I tried to update my Ubuntu system today. Code: $sudo apt-get update The update failed because the connection to the India mirror timed out: Code: [URL] Could not connect to in.archive.ubuntu.com:80 (111.91.91.37). - connect (110: Connection timed out) I tried the update a few times, with the same result every time.
I had firestarter running at this time, and noticed that I would get new security events every time I tried an update. I checked the events list, and it turned out that the machine at the ip address 111.91.91.37 (the in.archive.ubuntu.com machine, to go by the above error message) had been trying to make connections to seemingly random ports on the machine every time I tried the update: see the attached screenshot. I then changed my repositories to the Main Server using Synaptic, and tried the update again (from the command-line). This time it worked without a hitch, and firestarter did not report any unwanted incoming connection. why is the India mirror trying to open connections that the Main server apparently does not need in order for me to do the update? Should I (we) be concerned?
I was running 10.04 LTS and had decided to stick to the LTS versions as I'm now running my machine as a server and don't want to be updating regularly.Every time I logged in via SSH I got a message telling me there where packages to update including a security update. So I did a search to find out how to perform an update on Ubuntu server from the command line. What I found was to do this:sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get dist-upgradeAfter doing that I rebooted but now my machine gives me this message:
init: ureadahead-other main process (794) terminated with status 4Your disk drives are being checked for errors, this may take some timePress C to cancel all checks currently inprogressI'm not pressing C yet and leaving it alone to finish, but I noticed when the machine booted that one of the options for booting talked about Ubuntu 10.10, so I'm worried that I've updated from 10.04 LTS to 10.10 by accident?

After click on install updates and entering password, a message says "Some of the packages could not be retrieved from the server(s). Do you want to continue, ignoring these packages? Yes/No.
If I answer No, this message appears:
W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/po....10.1_i386.deb
404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.88.31 80]
If Yes, it tries to download but immediately:
W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/po....10.1_i386.deb
404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.88.31 80]
It has always installed the updates with no problems, until these 3 updates remain in pending installation status.
Just got a sudo update from the update manager-does anyone know what this specific update does?
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got a message about critical security holes for phpmyadmin (see e.g. [URL]) and wondering, when I'd get an update for my ubuntu server Lucid Lynx 10.04.3?

I am trying to install gnome-libs package as prereq to install Oracle 10.2 on Red Hat 5. It requires libpng.so.2 while I have libpng.so.3 installed on my system. I tried to do a link: ln -s /usr/lib/libpng.so.3 /usr/lib/libpng.so.2, then run /sbin/ldconfig and rebbot as well but it continues to ask for this library.

View 10 Replies View Relatedfirst of all, ill provide you with the package name i got [URL]...i went to /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/bwbar-1.2.2 did ./configure ; make
then i get this problem : [root@server bwbar-1.2.2]# ./bwbar ./bwbar: /usr/local/lib/libpng12.so.0: no version information available (required by ./bwbar) i have installed libpng & libpng-devel
[Code]...
after looking around a bit i thought it would be better to get the sources from kernel.org directly and try to compile that one, but then i found it to have the exact same error. would be very nice if someone could direct me to a solution for this. i have the bwbar already installed on another server which runs CENTOS 4 , i installed it there AGES ago , so i dont really remember what was my method back then.
the CENTOS 5 server dose not like me installing bwbar on it for some reason. maybe its bwbar's fault?, im no coder so i hope anyone that got a clue could check this out for me.
I have a very strange problem; when trying to apt-get update or aptitude update I get time out errors. At first it was resolving ipv6 adresses:
Cannot initiate the connection to ftp.litnet.lt:80 (2001:778::87). - connect (101: Network is unreachable) [IP: 2001:778::87 80] Err [URL] Cannot initiate the connection to security.debian.org:80 (2001:a78:5:1:216:35ff:fe7f:6ceb). - connect (101: Network is

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I updated my system with the latest security update and other software updates. Following the update, I am not able to log into the system after restart. As usual, I was prompted with the login page which looks as per normal. I chose my login id and entered my password. It brings me briefly to my desktop showing only my wallpaper (without any upper and bottom taskbars/panels). Then the screen went blank and the login page appeared again.I entered the login id and password, was shown the desktop wallpaper, screen went blank and the login page appeared. This continues over and over and over. After multiple tries and with some luck, I am able to log in as per normal. What seems to be the problem?
1. How do I check the system for errors?
2. How do I check which update has been updated?
3. Is there any way for me to restore to its original state (I migrated from FC10 to FC11 via yum update)?
The only other change apart from the security update is that I installed wine - which has been uninstalled the moment I was able to re-logged in.I attach the details of my grub.conf file below which I hope could be of some useful info.
I just installed FC12 and was trying to do the security update, but it encountered an "internal error" and asked me to "report this bug to the distribution's bugtracker" with the details. However, I am not sure exactly what to do. Could someone be kind enough to let me know?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know why but my server is no longer successfully updating its security repositories when I run 'apt-get update' on my system. Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.Did I mess something up? No changes have been made to the server and I ran 'apt-get clean' and that didn't really do much.
