Server :: Sendmail - Pipe All Existing Users Incoming Emails To /dev/null?
Oct 24, 2009Well I want my sendmail to pipe all users' incoming emails to /dev/null ... I just don't want to accept emails. Every user that exist on the system currently or will be made in future, I want their incoming emails to them to be piped to /dev/null .... I just want those users to be able to send emails.

I've configured it to a nonstandard port, 65440, disabled connect_from_port_20 and run it as a normal user, from home directory. I can't use the SSL feature, every time I connect, it only reaches the login process. After logging in, I get the following error (when data transfer would start for LIST command):

The client side is a Total Commander 7.02, there hasn't been any problem with its SSL yet and this only occurs when trying to connect to my vsftpd.
Server :: Samba Share Read Only For Guests / Write For Some Specific Users
Jun 19, 2011I've been reading for a while about samba but I haven't found a solution to my problem yet.I'd like to know if, the configuration I have in mind, is possible at all ("security = user" is what I'm using now).I want a directory to be:
1) read only for guests and some UNIX users;
2) write for some other UNIX users.
The advantage of this configuration would be that every single user in my LAN (with or without a UNIX account) would be able to read the content of the shared directory Music and I (UNIX user andrea) could manage the folder directly trough samba preserving the correct owner/group and permissions on the new files/folder created.
Notes about my configuration above:
1) as it is now every user gets authenticated by samba as nobody so even I (andrea) cannot write in it;
2) commenting out the line "guest ok = yes" I can authenticate as "andrea" and write in it but guest access is not possible any longer.

(or a new one if that is possible) VNC works fine(well slow and unresponsive) but when trying ssh i get problems. After som trial and error(some permissions on host, i did sudo startx and screwed up) i logged in and could start xterm. Anyway now i want to use gnome, so i wrote "gnome-session" - something i read would work but i got ALOT of errors.

Jul 1, 2010We are using Real VNC enterprise server. User will connect to the vnc server and do their work. We are facing one issue since from last week. When user is working on session, some times the session will get hung.He can't do anything on that. If he close the connection and try to connect from vnc viewer to the same vnc session it is not connecting. even it is not asking for the password. I have checked in the server the Xvnc process for the session is still running. When I tried to check the session is alive or not from telnet it is not showing that RFB 004.001.

Jul 5, 2011OpenSuse 11.4 Asus Netbook 1000H Following other members in the forums I have installed Opensuse 11.4 on the Netbook. In the early days Ubuntu Netbook Remix worked well for me. But this has been discarded, and the "one size fits all" Ubuntu had become slow and cumbersome. So..... onto my post. Opensuse is working well. The install went beautifully.
It detected the Wireless Internet and I am able to get on line. I also need to share the Internet connection to a desktop. This is done via a small network switch. Thus far I cannot do this. I tried to use ifup to configure a static ip but this busted my Wireless configuration. I went back to knetwork manager. Then I tried to set up the wired network using knetwork manager and under IPV4 "share" the connection. But this blanks out any possiblity of a static address and substitutes dhcp. My desktop cannot ping the this dhcp address. Ubuntu had this thing called Firestarter? - from memory. This configured the system to sharing the network.

Feb 19, 2010I am trying to deploy Kerberos and LDAP so users will be able to login in to a server on the edge of the LAN, and afterwards be able to establish a SSH connection to all the computers in that LAN without the need to type any passwords, and without the need for me to manage SSH keys [beside the SSH keys on the login server] and local user accounts.
1. When i create the users in OpenLDAP i use a template that i created by reading documentation from the Internet. In the template one piece of information that is neede is the UID. Is there any clever way the keep track of the numbers so i do not assign the same UID to two users, besides using a pen and paper?
2. For the users to be able to establish SSH connections between the computers, the host is going to be added to the keytab like this: ktadd host/client.example.com Is is possible to replace client with something genric so i do not need to mange these keytab files between the hosts?
3. Users will be logging on the the server on the edge of LAN by using SSH keys. How can i configure the setup so the users will recieve a ticket automatically when the logon without executing kinit and without entering a password, just by having a valid SSH key?
4. krb5kdc is running on all the network interfaces in the server i want it to only run on eth1, how can this be done?

Aug 6, 2011I have configured rssh 2.3 with openssh 5.8 on RHEL 5.6 64 bit to restrict the users to scp and sftp. When i try to sftp or scp it gives error connection closed. After long googling tried different solutions like add missing libraries, setuid to rssh_helper. I had full copy of /lib to /chroot/lib and /chroot/lib64 but no success. conf and log files are below for reference.

Which line would I change/add in order to do this?

May 13, 2010We have just installed VNC. It seems to work fine. If we connect to a remote system using VNC, on say DISPLAY 5, it works and we can run our applications. If another person wants to view this session, they can also connect to DISPLAY 5, and it is fine.
However, if you are just sitting at your own system, without using VNC, and someone connects to your system using VNC to DISPLAY 0, so you can show them what you are doing, they do not see your session, they see a plain startup session, not the session in which you are running your applications... How do you let VNC users see your normal non-VNC session? Have I configured something wrongly? We are new to VNC!

However, what the solutions I found until now offer me, is the possibility to create a new desktop session and view that one (or run an application an view that one). Mar 19, 2011Ubuntu 10.10 x64.It's been a little over a week since I *rebuilt my system after a gdm or gnome issue and now I'm having an issue with the guest session not working and I'm unable to add a new user. It says "incorrect data" or something like that. This is more than annoying. Why is my system decaying so rapidly? I'm not adding anything to the system that isn't approved by Ubuntu. it's virtually a stock build, minus some changes to the look and feel category. Is this possibly a security issue? My routers up and running and I turned on UFW.

Feb 4, 2010I have two linux laptops. Currently, I'm using both of them at work, side-by-side. Now the problem is, I'm connected to a wireless router, but the wireless only works on one of the laptops. So I'm stuck with one laptop that has no access to the internet. Both machines do, however, have working ethernet nic cards. So, I was wondering if I could use the laptop with the wireless connection to share the internet connection with my other linux machine and access the internet on both of them. Or as an alternative, just use the internet on the machine without wireless and be able to switch back and forth, that would increase my productivity like 30 fold.
